A320 LFMT To LFKC Landing challenge, mountains, and very short final must see
I've been excited about 2024 for a while but in most compare video that I watch, I prefer the 2020 look
*sigh* What you are looking at is a test build to test telemetry, it was only 9GB.
This airport (NZMF) is a fantastic place to go glider flying in MSFS 2020, LOWZ being another. If you haven’t tried gliding in the mountains you should try it. Very different experience compared to flying a GA plane in the same locations.
well done brother
Thanks
The 2020 version is more true to life, around the airport at Milford having visited in real life :)
I do not have any expertise or familiarity on Canada. I do am an enthusiast on both flight sim and weather/fluid dynamics. Just don't know about msfs 2024. Just from a European point of view. Few things. Msfs seems to be unable to distinguish altitude with seasons. Temperature decreases as a very rough rule of thumb usually 1degree celsius per 300 feet or 100 metres. Idfk about Fahrenheit, no one uses Fahrenheit. In the alps, it is therefore possible to get snow at 6000 feet as early as August or as late as June. It has snowed in the alps at 2000 feet in all months. In Alberta, I think Alberta is generally colder in summer, but its close, it might ever so slightly therefore be a year-round thing. Snow at 6000 feet is unlikely in Summer. Apart from that, and I know Alberta isn't like ya average tropics, you can easily get snow in October, easily. I actually think even where you live, everywhere in Canada snow is possible half October. This to be everywhere in Canada. To bring home my point, I think Montreal is the last place in Canada where, apart from Vancouver (very specific climate there in Canada), where it snows, historically, the earliest date seems to be there the 25th of September. In a land climate, typically from half October is when you can expect the earliest snow. However, this time is also very polarising. You can get 25 degrees celsius one day, 3 days after, or 6 hours later it snowed/snows. On altitude however, not even a question. This isn't snow though. This is baked in sattelite data. Msfs doesn't distinguish between altitude. The only thing is that in summer "snow" exists on mountaintops because satellite imagery has made these, and there does not exist data for Microsoft bing without snow. The terrain therefore always has snow.
The thing what I would hope for for msfs is that seasons act on altitude. Makes huge difference. That you can see a snowline really brings home the appearance of altitude
True however i think its important to realize this is not Real Life but a simulation and as such they have made great strides and yet still a lot to do. Thanks for your input
Those fake aircrafts from Asobo still exist in 2024. That’s bad.
Not sure i would see that bad the sim needs to have aircraft and i think MSFS 2020 has come a long way when it comes to there aircraft
The big difference to me is at 2:50 where you see the pavement differences- much better in 2020 imo
I tend to agree i did not look at this that closely. Also at 3:01
The textures were not all there in the 2024 ALPHA. It was like a 9GB tech demo. This is giving so many people the wrong idea, please wait until release.
I'm hoping 2024 runs well in VR..nice video btw,keep up the good work 👏 I'm subscribed 👍
Thanks for the sub!
2024 doesn't look good it looks very washed out
Thanks you for your comments :)
Irrespective of the graphics, unless VR has undergone a better optimisation I’ll be sticking with 2020 for the time being.
I see, i was thinking i was going to do the same but since i did the alpha it changed my mind and re ordered MSFS 2024. I do respect everyone's decision.
I was here yesterday in an R22. Amazing scenery in 2020
Yeah i think so as well, now i do have addon scenery for Millford sound as the default is not as good
Keep in mind that it is 2024 Alpha which means it is not done and will have bugs
True da
This is the alpha, it’s like everyone has completely ignored that. The alpha doesn’t represent the final sim.
Yup
What about Madeira Cristiano Ronaldo airport? Nice video
We only only had Alpha for 3 days now we need to wait for it to come out
Checked photos of the second field, trees have been cleared on approach like 2024 but its a grass strip, no money here for a sealed/concreted strip out in the backcountry. So 2020 is more accurate. Btw there is another strip West of Milford airfield up a valley near a rather nice looking camping lodge. That would be a challenge to get into I think. Thanks. Laurie. NZ. 😊
Where is this place do you have coordinates for it? i fly around Milford a fair amount and not sure i have ever seen one west of Milford
It was a 9GB test build, it should not be compared with 2020, it was an alpha to test online telemetry.
Checked on native trees in the area, so 2020 on the second airfield looks correct as they get to 30 plus m tall and 50 plus m tall up around 300 years old. Laurie. NZ. 😊
Thanks for the info
its alpha more updates will be better
Yeah, I don't think people should be comparing graphics just yet. No one has played a finished version of the game, that was just a very unfinished tech alpha.
Yup lets wait for the full release to come out and then compare. For me i also know what we need to expect a learning curvy in switch to a new sim.
I've been through it in a helicopter (this was a VERY long time ago--1986), and it seems that the colors IRL are a bit more vibrant. This could be due to weather, air quality, any number of things. However, as far as the texture and scale, your video captures a lot of it, given that the Grand Canyon is one of those places that is barely even captured in IMAX. You simply have to be there.
yeah i would agree . Being there IRL is the preferred
The colors and cliffs look way better in 24 overall to me. 2020 is just overwhelmingly an oversaturated green to me. Also, I had the chance to fly in the Midwest US during the alpha and what they have done with farm fields is super compared to the grainy satellite imagery from before
Yeah i agree with you about the mountains in Milford Sound
the terrain colours in 2024 are so wrong which is really weird. Even if you load up bing maps the colors in Milford sound are way more accurate. I am excited around 2024 but they need to get some consistency and realism in texture color toning. Im sure all of this will just be semantics in the end though. Milford airport has mostly small trees and shrubs surrounding it. 2020 gets the representation much better than 2024.
yes a friend of mine that has been there and lives on the north island says the same thing about the trees
2024 'looks' better, but is actually very inferior to 2020. 2020 is about 80% like real life, but needs some reduction on the green tint. Also, the topography in 2024 is really messed up. The mountains look 'squat' and far away, when in reality they are towering all around the airport. 2020 is much better!
@@Sergeant898 This is why comparing a finished product with a very unfinished tech alpha is not a good idea, it's not a representation of the final product, and it gives people the wrong idea.
2020 looks more accurate and has correct tree types. 2024 is still a work in progress so I wouldn’t expect it to be up with 2020. I assume 2020 gets transferred over any way? I double checked photos via Google. 2024 trees look like Aussie gum trees which is incorrect btw. Also the chap who does 16:9 cinematic videos/films with 2020 has a video on how he makes them and notes in the graphics section the washed out scenery colours and shows how he increases some settings to look more natural. Sorry cant recall his channel name at the moment. Laurie NZ. 😊
Fyi Milford Sound has 7m (22.96 feet) average rainfall each year hence the type of trees shown accurately in 2020. It is apparently one of the wetest places on Earth. Lol lucky you got a sunny day! 😅. Laurie. NZ 😊
Very exited for this beautiful new simulator
I know what you mean
Agreed. I'm super impressed
Ty for you comment
4 years +hundred of bucks to REPAY FOR SAME STUFF + BLU HAZE FILTER that the dumbest programmer create in 5min and xPlane use from 3 years on mobile app + MISSIONS + an add-on system that Is NOT a Total Nightmare - the necessity to STAY ALWAYS ONLINE and preying that fiber connection could grant a decente graphics MICROSOFT IS ALWAYS MICROSOFT 😂😂
Excellent video as always, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Just curious if there will be regular 'world updates' similar to msfs 2020 to add photogrammetry to cities etc?
I believe there will be but we will not need to download them. they are going to be on the cloud
Oh, if only someone (hint hint) could fly a helicopter over Fulham, London and do some aerial footage over the streets near the football ground. Great videos btw, many thanks.
Thank you , however the Alpha test is over now and i do not have access to it now. But when it goes live we will all be able to :)
on rough uneven places like a beach - I would normally do a stall-landing - reduce speed until a few knots about stall speed and then flare enough to lose the few knots - the aircraft winges but touches down at minimum speed then I do not press too hard on the brakes but with a balanced pressure to discourage skidding. ground roll can get loner in this condition but remains smooth.
Thanks for the pointers
You have nade a comparison with the payware Milford Sound expansion of NZA on. Despite this MSFS 2024 is much better, look even at haze that now is easily visible and those tree .... they look really like real.
Thanks for your comment. yeah i wished i had seen the haze and corrected it. however alpha test is over and cant correct it now
I was watching the following real life video about the mountains at Milford Sound airport: ruclips.net/video/ielylawXHF4/видео.html , and those mountains at timestamp: 3:19 on your video do not look correct for MSFS 2024 Alpha, but more accurate in MSFS 2020. What happened to that big mountain on the right? Why has MSFS 2024 made that mountain less imposing and seemingly further away? This is not the same as real-life, so they have messed up somewhere. What do you think?
I think some of the distance differences are do to how i set my camera. i show this video to a friend of my that lives there and the only thing he said is he does not believe the trees are correct. the mountains he says are more correct than in MSFS 2020
That was a great comparison. Keep at it. Practice makes perfect . I am pleased how much more natural the lighting looks in 2024. 2 weeks to go ! (Hopefully)
Thank you!
I was a passener in a 6 seater single engine flight from Queenstown to Milford Sound in 2002. Truly epic scenery.
Wow that does sound amazing
Very nice 😊 greetings from Norway ❤🇳🇴❤🇳🇴
Welcome and happy to have you here from Norway
it looks amazing. Reminds me of the impression i had last time being their. Thanks for the nice video!
Yes its very nice we have had the chance to be their or in that area a few time. When were you there?
@@streamgamerz6542 one of my best holidays i ever had. It was 2017 when we drove all the way up from Vancouver to Canmore.
great video: but please next video about wind water and trees animation thx❤
I would be happy to do that but the Alpha test is over and when i was recording videos i did not focus on the so i have no footage on it sorry
ok
Why render a 21:9 video in 16:9? Us 21:9 people now have hugh black bars all around instead of using the whole monitor
Sorry i do recording in 2k not 4K. Also i am not sure if i full understand what you that means i am new to this and learning. So if you have further advice i am all ears. Discord is discord.gg/s7s6Mw9F
Great Video! Would like to see British Columbia footage!
Thank you.i will put it up in a few days. i need get it ready
Good Lord, never seen so many cruise ships in Milford!
Yeah i have a friend that lives in New Zealand and he says its not correct. Maybe its do to the alpha release and they will fix it in final release
the clipping around objects with water behind them is still attrocious if not worse than in 2020
Yeah i agree I hope when they do the release and nod alpha they will fix it
Just so you know that is as far from what NZMF actually looks like than you can get. FS2020 has a few awesome versions available for that airport.
Yes there is but i believe my version of MSFS 2020 is with out mods
I cant believe they still havent sorted the live weather for Milford Sound, thank you for the video though.
You are welcome. Here is hoping they will
Milford Sound <3
:)
Dude, when you use outside view of plane, either turn your microphone up or the sim sound down because your very hard to hear.
Thanks... i think i corrected that on my last video i did
No worries. I typed before I watched the whole video. 👍
MESH is still borked sadly.
Yeah it seems as thou it is. Keep in mind this is still Alpha. I hope they will correct it
I flew the tech alpha as well and did some of the same canyon flying. The jump in fidelity between 2020 and 2024 is nothing short of amazing. The small details really jump out as well, like have species correct trees and shrubs in the canyons instead of generic trees. I can't wait!!!
Thanks for you comment, i could not agree more with you on all points :)
Your scale changes when you scale something.
oh i did not know that thanks for the info
Hi, Phil from the UK… re the monitor, I have a 4K but find when trying to run graphics at Ultra, things slow down a lot. (I have a good spec PC btw). However, as soon as I go to 2K, frame rates climb significantly, without any noticeable degradation of the image. We have always been told, Flight sim is a balance or trade-off, and so it seems. Hope this helps….
Thank you for you view, it is kind of the same view i have had for some time.
I can’t believe how good those canyon walls look. Makes me pumped for release!
yeah me as well
Environmental shadow clipping still a problem that has plagued 2020 as well. Still not resolved
Yeah... although keep in mind this is a Alpha not finally release
What i miss is real fog or adjustable fog/haze fs2020 doesn't have fog does fs24 have it ??
Sorry i did not play around with the weather stuff
Idk if 2024 has options for that but whenever i wanted to fly with fog in 2020 i just created a cloud layer on ground level and played around with density. looks just like fog in my oppinion😊
Fog is just a cloud layer with a base of 0 ft. above ground level.
The fact you can do drive your plane on the beach like this proves that there's still some lacking realism, lol. Try that beach drive in real life and you would probably regret it. 🤣🤣 Seriously though, some incredible graphics, and I'll be excited to pop in and see it when the game launches! I've always been super casual - but just being able to putt around is an enjoyable escape once in a while. If you fly like you would in real life, we're getting close to a point where the game is indistinguishable from reality... which is downright breathtaking.
agreed you should not be able to do it. however they are getting closer and close to the realism.
