I want to see more good or interesting commens and r. Like dragon energie order.
This rideline looks REALLY fun
Gramgrace, Undercover, Houndraizer, anyone else sensing a trend?
Bushi design team really puttin they creativity caps on for these not-Resael decks
@ mfw i need to design a keter deck that sting from back row with 1 drive check or use keter pile
I'm glad this was in my recommendations. Had the same experience looking through High Beasts.
Preach, as someone who has spinomarques build i love seeing every dinodragon be for everyone or terrible. When am i gonna get the dinodragon that comes back on retire bushi?!
true that, I'm tired of seeing one new dinodragon every three sets that doesn't work with spino. luckily, I stumbled upon a rumor that we may get a rideline for him sometime in the future. Hoping against hope bushiroad doesn't manage to mess up though...
I agree with a lot things in this video, except stuff like giving decks all gifts, because it’s will make same issue as D having, but even worse due to clan locking. It’s seems like when Vanguard makes new mechanic, they make 1 step forward…just for execution to make many steps backwards, potentially, feeling like they didn’t make new steps at all. Vanguard introduces ride lines, just for them to be designed like clones, blitz orders, which are mostly just bigger shields, then overtriggers and lowering defence value of triggers, while keeping 10k power gain.I think other issue Vanguard has which is overlooked,is the way they make control decks,it’s feels like they want them being control at first, just for 2nd wave turn into midrange deck or make them as obnoxious to play against as possible.
Undercover tigris is pretty good. Use g0 undercover starter in rideline you guarantee an undercover in drop. there also isn't much energy usage in the deck so can round out extra energy to bounce back to hand. this also means you can just use it early to rush and if really need shield can bounce back later. it is additional 10k shield so that there are eight 10k shields in the deck (4 tigris 4 regaon). it also is good ride pitch fodder since future copies you draw then become 10k shields.
Discount Valkyrion, now with dogs
Secret tech is running the undercover starter and soulblasting it so tigris becomes live early.
The new Brandt gate man will be him
I think you are short changing Yell Gaon here. The new dog that can SC1/EC1 only gains power on back center which you always want to be filling with the guard restrict dog so you need other rear boosters besides cerrgaon and yell fits nicely. The decks crit rear is a G3 and needs your opp to be on G3 so going second you could make a column of G3 + Yell on G3 turn for 41k with a crit (13K G3 + 5k/Crit from its own effect + 8k from Yell + 10k Yell effect + 5k from Aoi). If you run the warriors rest order it can be 51k with a crit. Just from seeing the extra power on the G2 and the crit on the G3 both requiring your opp to be on G3 I feel like this is probably a solid going second deck since you can throw the dogs down for G1 turn aggro then continue to commit on G2 and G3 turns while hitting solid numbers.
@@cxpetri47 I don’t believe in going second decks, those are just decks that don’t mind losing the die role
ngl the rest order name thing that when play eb 2 give units that gets boosted plus 10k and if you have 4 or more rearguards draw a card thing is good on the deck
Bro Argo Sirens exemplifies how much of a MISTAKE Rotovisor was. I had the displeasure of borrowing a Roto deck for a tournament and I was suffering. Fast forward to Wednesday of this week and Argo Sirens feel comfortable to play. It has potential as a budget deck and Im sure as hell getting it
the undercover dog is ok since it goes to hand which is good
Y'know, i didn't really think about the implication before but dammit yeah this is a good point lmao. We need more good doggos bushi (preferably generic and cheap)
This deck sounds like fun, can’t wait to play this. However I feel like is missing a lot of pieces since most of the high beast in standard has, you guessed it! name locking, yay… and idk if Cerrgaon will work here mainly because of lack of orders and removals, unless you use some generic orders that could help you out with the consistency and power to give to your back row rearguard (because that doggo will definitely be extremely weak, specially at T4, you’re literally would be using that rear just to check triggers). But TLDR; cute deck, but it needs more direct support, SPECIALLY more high beast support for the deck.
always fun to learn about a meta from a rant video :D best of luck with high beasts!
Man, if I had a nickel for everytime Bushiroad made a unit in Standard that allows Drive checks from a unit attacking from the backrow center, I'd have 3 nickels. Why is it 3 nickels man?
@@godsman00 and I’m sure there’s plenty more nickels to come
The main G3 being called Aoi which means blue and Akane meaning red or also as Aka(ne) so red big sister is so funny 😂
Another thing to consider with Tigris if you want to play it (albeit not being anything game changing for the deck) is that since nothing requires you to play the Houndrazer starter, you could play the Undercover starter instead and SB it out with Aoi to secure a name in drop for its skill.
@@-ZRG- Big brain
Keter does have some busted orders. They have one that just says CB1 to pot of greed as long as you have two units in hand you want to play.
Also we have one that energy blasts 2, gives 2 units 10k and can draw 1
@@Jrpg_guy it has to be boosted so front row gets more power but yeah its a really good order i think id prefer it over the cb1 greed of pot
I really like your rants lmao
As long as Bushi keeps printing things for me to yell about, I'll keep it comin
@@BaconSaver Bushi honestly prints too many "useless" cards. Like, they waste so much good art just so they can sell the higher rarities.
@ I swear all the best arts in the worst cards
Yeah, terrible execution has followed this game since I started playing it, at the end of the Limit Break era... I outright stopped having hopes for anything new the game introduced, since I know they'll mess it up in some way. ...And then I broke that rule and got myself hyped at the idea of Gifts, since I could build my Dark Irregulars in any kind of way, be that defensive to slowly build my Soul for a big play like I did with Blade Wing, or extremely aggresive to end my opponent quickly like with Demagogue, and getting a Force Gift would make almost any version of my Tachikaze terrifying...! ...Until I got slapped with the revelation taht each Clan was locked with a specific Gift XD. I really loved this game, and wanted to have fun with it, regardless of the bad decisions and the "Build the deck with the cards we tell you to" style of cards, so I reached the point where, at the end of the G era, I developed a Mod for the Cardfight Area, the fanmade online simulator, to play with friends. A Mod that balanced all the cards in the game and removed a lot of Name requirements, so there could be real Deck Building going on. And I had GREAT games with friends with it! ...And like a month later Bushi announced the Reboot, and my friends didn't want to play anymore because they were moving to the new format XD. Each time Bushi does something with this game, I end hurt...
So true bestie
Personally, I don't think they COULD have done it the way you'd hope...without running into a new problem. Namely if any card from the same nation could be splashed in without restriction...you might have a lot of freedom, but then you'll end up making potentially busted decks that would result in a Yu-Gi-Oh situation, and possibly lead to a lot more banning compared to the current state. Sure, it would have been nice in theory...but as someone who's had to play against decks that make ridiculous combos in some games...I can't say the limiter is inherently a bad thing.
Vanguards actually a fun case cuz it’s all pretty self contained, as long as you keep an eye out for infinite combos and problematic loops, the only thing that can really end up “broken” is the number of attacks you can do and how big those attacks are. Balancing Vangaurd cards would be a heck of a lot easier than balancing a game like Yugs which has a 20+ year card pool with interactive cards that can lock you out of game.
@@BaconSaver Fair enough. Yugioh's biggest problem is also that nowadays the gameplay is basically stopping the opponent from playing. Vanguard at least never had that problem. Especially in the D era, its literally impossible to brick
We need more largely self contained Vanguards like Claudine who open you up to a lot of experimentation imo
Bushi didn't only make almost all staples high rarity, but also doubled the amount of different high rarity cards in a set without modifying ratios, so pulling a specific RRR is harder or at least as hard as getting a VR back in V even when those were only 1 per box. Outright disgusting if you ask me. I'm a premium player with 8+ decks and a Luard player in D, I haven't bought a single new card since DBTZ-2 and I didn't even need those either lol. I would like more direct support for the format but I'm not too mad because of the sheer amount of cards at our disposal, but if you are a Standard enthusiast it looks pretty bad right now pricing and deck building wise.
I haven't played Vanguard since 2018, so just a bit after V Series. I've since moved on to play other TCGs, but it's sad to hear that Vanguard is having these issues. The thing that made Vanguard enjoyable to me was the fact that you could buy a case, split it with friends, and play at the highest level. While I enjoy the idea of generic cards, seeing how it's implemented isn't really encouraging me to come back. I'll just continue to watch from the sideline, collecting anything Granblue related lol.
Happy to be your sideline reporter 🫡
Umm....did you just say the gift was a good idea? To be honest, no because they were clearly not balanced and it became a lot worse with the introduction of two....*cough cough* Accel 2 spam. It is just one of the reasons why they had to do a second reboot because of how broken and unbalanced gifts are with some being objectively better than others.
When I refer to my excitement about gifts, at the time we only had the trailer for the new anime and a reveal stream
I feel your pain in every single way
me and my friends play premium with proxy cards not only we can mix anything, its cheap too
Honestly, despite how much flak people give Yugioh, cards and archetypes being generic enough to allow people to be creative with their deck building and staples being reprinted not even a year into its lifespan is what makes the game great. I love vanguard just as much as I do yugioh but how the game is handled makes it so difficult to continue playing.
Saw the title and thought this would be a completley different video essay lmao
I have been saying I dislike aspects of Standard and you have summed it up rather eloquently in how you summarised that instead of 5 nations we actually have 100 plus ridelines. I like the clan system as by the end of G they felt unique and while clans may be similar to each other jn aspects, their style of working felt unique and in a game, feeling cool is one of the aspects you want. Whilst D has a lot of cool feeling decks, you can't bank on them getting long term support (minus some cases like Zorga), even if they kept making support, there needs to be much more aggressive reprinting to enable older cards to remain accessible.
Namelocking rideline is a mistake. It's clan again but with extra text. Staple RRR is also a mistake. Before I only had to fight with other players in the same clan to get them, now demand goes quadruple thanks to nation but supply stays the same, if not lower. Now I'm just chilling with Bang Dream nation.
@@hngtuong I agree, I have played Zorga from the first D set so luckily I have been able to avoid the fighting over generic cards, however, seeing everyone else get priced out due to lack of cards around I can empathise heavily for people, it feels like a mess.
I would like they "associate" ridelines with similar themes like they did Gandeeva and Eugene maybe keep it at a lower rarity rather than have to chase for a card like the dual nations that are WAY out of my budget. I've been theorizing that they have a different design team for each nation and I really like in a vacuum what they do with Dragon Empire (shotouts to Lyrical because some of the most interesting mechanics are trapped in my least fav nation) but the card design of Stoicheia and Keter Sanctuary simply tends to become broken EVERY TIME unless you bring the extrictly broken (Nubatama memes of dominate and handlooping) they ALWAYS reign supreme (Stoicheia and Keter spam has made any other strat in DE literally pointless, you cannot even attempt control when all the decks come back from a single card). If I am correct then I'm 70% sure they are going to next print a DE card that is Eugene/Aelquilibria support.
im so glad to find someone who has the same complaints as me. the state of D design made me leave standard. Unironically i wish they design generics like Rezael, powerful cards that fill a very specific niche. thanks for this video loved it
Name locking AND rotation is the worst of both worlds! I hope one day Japanese game designeds will consider draft-then I'll get to playing Magic entirely and be free. It improves so many elements of gameplay for everyone.
Btw, I would love this to become a series.
Before standard: Oh look, the decks I play only get support once a year if even then (*cries in Genesis witches*). After standard: Oh look the decks I play only get support once or twice a year if I'm lucky (*cries in Feltyrosa*) I don't even get to play the physical card game any more (except against myself) since the local scene died a couple years back and I've migrated to Grand Archive (which is it's own can of worms). Even then, I hardly feel the desire to even look at the newly revealed cards because I know my desire to buy cards to just own in the some misplaced hope that I may someday get to play again thanks to the fact I know I'm probably going to be disappointed.
What is that theme in the background from 2:50?
Uhhh some song from Danganronpa
I feel your woes with the Nation system as when I first heard of it I thought we'd be getting a more reined in Extreme Fight (AKA the format we had until the concept of someone having more than 2 legions in their deck being too much) with more cohesion and instead we got effectively even more clans with Lyrical maybe being the most freeform because of both generics and incidental synergies such as the Wings units functioning even if you don't run their ride line. But in writing this I realize the other less talked about issue with this system, Persona Rides; A cool mechanic that rewards you for running more copies of your vanguard in the main...and utterly discourages running off-Vanguards further crippling deckbuilding creativity. One of my fav cards is Time Stamping Dragon, as its versatile and can imitate time leap which I find fun but why would I throw it in as a tech piece when just running another copy of my VG gives me way more pressure?
I could make a video and a half on persona ride lol
It’s always admirable to see videos like this that see what could be done more with what something does, as it shows the hopes of what could be for people to enjoy that thing more. Though as complacent as it sounds, I’m more inclined to simply enjoy something for what it already is and stick around if it’s doing enough for me to stay engaged with it. It’s not that I don’t want better out of what is being done now for Vanguard or “insert X thing here”, but as a product, I know that I can simply divert my attention elsewhere to something that does engage or even respect me more to warrant my consideration. At the end of the day, money and attention talks, so I’ve more or less chosen to stick to what I like and ignore what I don’t. For Vanguard, I do like some new stuff here and there like new decks and especially what’s going on in the anime, but I don’t care enough about it to go out of my way for locals that tend to have conflicting schedules with my day to day, as fun as it is for me to play online now and then. Of course I would love for Vanguard to do better, but until it does enough for me to be more than just a distant occasional bystander like this, I’m not going to regard it any more than just a nicety of a pastime here and there.
This is exactly why I haven’t kept playing standard… every deck building choice is made for you. Name locking drives me crazy. It’s such a lazy way to balance the game. There isn’t any creativity or variance in this format, all the games feel exactly the same. When you’ve played your deck once you’ve played it 1000 times.
Not sure why this is popping into my recommended as a non-Vanguard player but I'm seeing similar issues in Yugioh over the last few years. The game has been trending towards high-rarity generic staples for a long time, but for a long time YGO did something that somewhat alleviated the rarity issue. Limiting generic staples to 1 copy each per deck allowed for a surprisingly good situation with deckbuilders having to make choices as to what generics they include (like Dust Tornado being a consideration in many decks in older formats as additional weaker copies of Mystical Space Typhoon), and preventing players from feeling totally priced-out if they lacked the big staples (as they can theoretically use an extra copy of the lesser equivalents for reasonably similar effect), while also allowing these powerful staples to be valuable chase cards that could sell sets. Obviously it has the caveat that it can make games way more sacky, but imo this sort of method creates a pretty good middle ground that makes everyone from casuals to tournament grinders feel like there's something worth pursuing in a new set, without making it mandatory to own a playset in order to compete at a base level. It also requires that the rest of the set still be at least somewhat interesting, else you get situations where the set's value is entirely concentrated in the big chase card and everything else is draft chaff even at the top rarities.
Hopefully you enjoyed the video anyway lol I got a buddy at locals that really likes TroopDupe format so we play that a lot haha and I enjoy the one of staples in that format
Ok, so now what? Stop playing?
Ok I obviously never said that lol, if you don’t like carrots and your mom keeps packing them in your lunch and 3 months later you say “Mommy, I don’t like carrots”, she’s gonna say, “oh, I’m sorry sweaty, you never said anything so I figured you liked them.”
@BaconSaver sorry I wasn't clear either. My bad bro. Your arguments do hold water. Bushitroll keeps fumbling the ball over and over. The question is: will bushi listen to his player base or ignore us completely since they seem to be doing super well even the constant ball fumbling?
Probably not in all actuality, but saying nothing guarantees nothing will happen. Plus I just like talking about stuff like this Also I swear Vanguard players will put up with anything so bushi has 0 reason to listen to us at all. We can’t have all the content creators be glazers lol
@@BaconSaver lol fair enough! And your arguments do hold water. Vermillion main here for 12 years now. I am super disappointed how BLOOD is back in D (in Japan and by Feb 28, 2024 here in the states and seeing him how bad they fumbled him compared to Glory, I have no words to describe how empty I feel
Crazy cuz I love/loved vangaurd. its battle system is so interactive with the back & forth attack/guard and anticipating with the trigger system. Which is what I was looking for coming from yugioh. But this; along with the vanilla starter decks + the crazy amount of fan service I’ve been drifting from the game:/. Digimons been the best game for me tbh (has fan service too obv but not quite as much or in the same way as vangaurd and very less frequently does it make it harder to immerse myself like vangaurd). The memory system is really fun and not nearly as costly as vangaurd. And actually GOOD starter decks lol a lot of early cards still see play. It’s so fun.
okay, your first negative point doesn't make sense. you basically want a game which is as broken as legacy MTG, or Force of will. Limitations are there to allow design space to be more open, because the more open cards get released the more broken stuff happens, or, as many people know it, it turns into YGO. If you want broken combos all the day that's the game for you, for everyone who wants to have a proper game, it isn't. also no, I will vehemently argue against YGO being strategic. The game is a broken mess which turned into solitaire. There is no argument to be made here, ygo has as much to do with proper skill as just rolling dice. also supporting the clans was a hassle, because so many people had to wait and there was no set date for when who would get support. The notions of what would end up being nations was a thing since mid-G era when certain design problems arose in particular thanks to how clans got their support. Point 2 also is a lie. a pretty flagrant one, too. Some decks can work by just going "it mentions the boss unit", but there are now many generic cards which are not "tailor-made" for a specific deck but can provide a good tool for the deck. Plus, we have deck now like the Bat which is basically doing kinda what you want decks to do, yet you ignore it. also no, you are literally making an argument up about match-up or situation bound cards not being a thing. we have heal triggers with very specific skills which can give you a lot of defense in certain situations. we got orders of whose type we can only play 1 off which cann severely change how you tackle defense, there is choice there.
I’m sorry but saying Yugioh has no strategy means I can’t take anything you say seriously
@@BaconSaver Hey, anything to not interact with the other player, that's the only way a ygo player knows how to play a game, right? ;)
Have you even looked at the game since postlockdown. A deck just won a ycs that plays extremely low to the ground and wins off of knowing how to interact
Yeah the clans were better
I kinda just look at this at VG doing what Yugioh does with most modern archetypes since most modern archetypes also name lock themselves
NGL i don’t think YGO does name locking to this level of card xenophobia outside of a few select archetypes. This one here feels way more excessive than the usual attribute/type locks YGO has got.
Because name locking in YGO is even more important than in VG,Tearlaments is best example of why name locking is important, otherwise this game will become even bigger mess than it’s already is and even then, you still have different variations of decks, like Runick had tons of deck variants which didn’t play the same.
Speaking of LCG, that how Thai version of Vanguard works, sort of.
I understand the whole comparing it to MtG, but this isnt like MTG, its more like comparing generics in YGO and they both suck BUT since they are JP card games you can see why they do it
B-Hero players watching everyone else replace their entire decks: "I am the exception. Also give me a new vanguard." Also good video
