This is (my first) video explaining how to repair Bower and Wilkinson speakers (CM9). I hope it helps you to do the same.

    I was unable to remove my 'CM Centre 2' tweeter that had a dent as it involved prying it out and I could not figure how to do that without scratching it all up. but I used hair dryer and packing tape and pulled the dent out. Looks almost perfect. You have to get within a few feet to see slight discoloration where the dent was but the dent is 100% gone. If YT had a way I would post a pic here.

    Hello thanks for the great video and guidance. Do you know if it’s the same process to replace a tweeter from the cm8 and where can I buy the replacement. Thanks

    I need to replace both left and right tweeters on my CM5 speakers. My children loves to push those in. I might have to put them away for a few more years until my kids are older. :(

      How did you do replacing your CM5 tweeters, was it easy enough?

    Thanks. I can get the baffle plate fully lifted (by which I mean 360 degrees), but only about about 1/2 or 3/4 of an inch -- not enough to get my fingers in. It feels like either the wire leads are short and holding it back, or perhaps the element sits firmly in a housing inside the speaker. I can lift the baffle plate as you show -- loosen it all around and pull it forward or "out" a bit -- but it seems to take a lot of effort -- more force than I have been willing to use -- to lift if "all the way" out. I re-inquired of B&W but it merely resent me the instruction sheet.

      Oh now I understand. I remember that the foam/glue was sticking for quite some distance. One one half it was stuck to the wood and on the other half of the circumference it was stuck to the baffle. In the video I am only showing the second attempt. The first one required much more force. Once the sticky part is overcome then the cable length was pretty short. I could maybe get it out 2 inch at the most. Not sure this helps. Good luck!

    This was a very helpful video, thank you for posting. I am attempting the same repair. After removing the bolts, I am meeting a lot of resistance in pulling the baffle plate forward (out) -- it does not come out freely -- I can peek beneath it to see the leads but not reach in. Your video does not actually show you removing the baffle plate -- only the bolts, and then the element is in your hand. Does it require some force? What is holding tight -- the leads? Any further tips? Thank you!

      Thank you! Have a look at minute 1.14 There I am kind of preying out the baffle. I am using the wrench as a lever. That step is pretty hard and it requires some force. It is only sticking together, no additional screw or anything. Just be very careful not to damage the wood, the rest can be replaced. Good luck.

    Why the f*ck would you replace it. You could have easily pulled out the dent if the tweeter was working. Pointless repair and a waste of money in my opinion.

      I've tried without success! I tried sticky tape, it just wouldn't stick well enough to pull, I tried suction, no success. Any ideas?

    • @0410paddy
      @0410paddy 7 лет назад

      First of all, the dent does not affect the sound. Second, what did you suck it with?

    • @91pastor
      @91pastor 7 лет назад

      A small suction pad like the one you use to stick something to glass, I was afraid that it would pull the silver dome from the rubber surround. Any suggestions?

      It turned out to be so easy, I found a video on B&W website showing exactly how to replace the tweeter. I took out the tweeter and low and behold from the back I was able to put a small artist's paintbrush through and managed to get the crease out of the dome, wallah!Here is what it looks like from the back, click on link...www.google.ie/search?q=b%26W+CM1+tweeter+replacement&tbm=isch&imgil=ZbuN_ldVO6yFvM%253A%253BYJxvKge_hw-OBM%253Bhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.hifigear.co.uk%25252Freplacement-b-w-cm5-cm9-original-tweeter.html&source=iu&pf=m&fir=ZbuN_ldVO6yFvM%253A%252CYJxvKge_hw-OBM%252C_&usg=__X1fYKowvEcl5sZSE2F_Lfi717As%3D&biw=1536&bih=729&dpr=1.25&ved=0ahUKEwjRzICMnsDTAhVrCcAKHQE0C4sQyjcIaw&ei=JJX_WNGqLuuSgAaB6KzYCA#imgrc=tz0d48R7YPUPUM:&spf=241

    Yes, I did. I think it will avoid any resonance between the tweeter and the case. It comes with the new tweeter.

    did you use that adhesive ring sticker that came with the new tweeter? just found out my cleaning lady damaged my tweeter
