Alanvale and The Lazy Farmer

Alan is a retired Industrial Arts Teacher who has returned to West Arthur Shire to retire on the land close to where he first taught. He is trained in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering and as a child with the encouragement of his father, was laying bricks at the age of three. He believes if you want a job done properly, if possible, do it yourself and considers himself a little bit OCD (but not as much as his wife). In year 11 at school, he wrote in an essay to his English Teacher that he wanted to become a Teacher because he could do a better job. Teacher, Jillian Oakley read it out in class and dared him. He has served as Deacon and Elder in Protestant Churches, 12 years as City of Wanneroo and 2 years as Shire of West Arthur Councillor. He believes honesty and commitment are essential in any relationship including RUclips. He farms part time on Alanvale and supports his wife Bronwyn who works from home in the City of Perth, Western Australia.

They rang me for a "survey" asking about all my power requirements then said they are thinking of taking Farmers off the grid. I should have expected something with them closing down the coal fired power stations and all the power outages.

My last Doctor told me to exercise and lose weight. My new Doctor sent me for a stress ECG and I was told to go straight to hospital. (I went the next morning) The next day I was fitted with a pacemaker and home 24 hours after that. Exercise would have killed me! My pulse has now gone from 39 to 79 at rest. My oxygen is now in the normal range. In a few weeks I will be able to exercise and lose...

We had a drought year last year and my dam is empty but my water tanks are still full so it should be safe to use some on establishing a garden. First, we need a tap!

It can only just be seen with the naked eye but how exciting to find out that the World Meteor Network Sites in Western Australia were the first to see the newest exploding star. There was partial vision at Darkan, Bindoon and Toodyay and a good clear view at Pemberton.

We live in the wheatbelt massive house off grid and we also have a tesla car and electric ride on mower and all our tools are electric. Just go off grid yourself
You can put a 32 amp single phase plug on your power box instead for two 15 amp plugs. That's what I have done on my little cabin and it works a treat.
At the moment, the RCD switch is tripping out. I'm not sure if it's the generator or the switch riring.
@@alanvaleandthelazyfarmer1930 For the generator to function it will need a floating neutral, you'll need to make some adjustments. Both the switchboard and the generator typically come with a neutral-to-earth bond, but for a floating neutral setup, you'll need to disconnect the generator's neutral from its ground. This modification might be detailed in the generator's manual, or you could consult a qualified electrician to perform the adjustment safely. After removing the neutral-to-earth bond on the generator, it can still operate as a standalone unit, but it will not be safe to do so. The generator should only be used when connected to the switchboard to ensure safety. You might also be able to install an isolation transformer victron make them 3600w 7000w. And yes they are charging customers for excess solar its called a sun tax if you want to check it out.

Yes, we here in British Columbia I was forced to pay a $425 fee and write a 100 question exam before they would allow me to move forward with the permit process.
Supertanker Chief Engineer, an old Scotsman and very very skilled caught me using the side of the grinding wheel. Told me not to and why. Then a while later he caught me using the side of the grinding wheel again. He was good about it, not nasty but I did not do it again because the fellow took time out of his day to teach the next generation and I did not listen. I was a young Chief Officer at the time.
Normally I would use an oilstone for the polish but didn't have one on the farm. It wasn't really a grind. That surface has to be flat, not concave.
