Herbie Hancock Chameleon synth solo transcription (slow)

My attempt at transcribing the Arp solo on Herbie Hancock's Chameleon (at 4:03 in original track). I slowed it down and it's far from perfect but I think its pretty close in terms of notes for anyone interested in learning it.

    Man, I hear some noises crackling when you push on the sound in 15+- minutes, is it from synth?

    What the difference if you just will not choose the SAW in Algorithm, and just use it as Saw from scratch?

    It is the same arpeggiator as in the K2600 (asked above). It'd be worth getting a K2600 while they're still reasonably cheap if you're enjoying the K2500. If you can find one with the sampling option then the Live Mode, the Triple Mode and the KDFX all add up to a huge amount of depth for those who enjoy diving in. Thanks for the tuts, more please...

    I bought a new K2000 when I was 21 and really didn't know much about synthesis at the time except some very, very basics. I generally just used it for presets and sampling. It was too much synth for me then. Nearly 30 years later, I might go find it in storage and start noodling around with it again. Hopefully it'll boot. :)

    Amazing that 30 years after the making of the synth you still make videos for it. I have no space for it anymore so try to sell it, but videos like this make me want to put it on my desk again.

    This is the best introduction to VAST I have ever seen. Now I understand the basic principles of VAST: it's very similar to a classical subtractive synth, but instead of a fixed unique synth architecture, the user can choose the architecture of the synth (to a certain extent). And the UI has something in common with FM: with that small screen and the unfathomable menus it does not show the global picture of a patch clearly so the user must have it in his head in order to program it. Many thanks.

    • @yashnu
      @yashnu 7 месяцев назад

      You build synths inside of it. Subtractive is just one of the many Synthesis architectures it can do. It also has a Multi-Sample Keymap Section and that can be used on its own or be further processed by V.A.S.T. DSP blocks and controlled in real-time.

    I own a Kurzweil K2000 since release and it sits here under a cover, not being touched much. I always wanted to sound design on it and never got around to it, now with your videos and the knowledge I gathered from other synths I hope to do this finally. Could you make sure you normalize your audio so the videos are about as loud as others? Thanks for your effort of keeping V.A.S.T. alive!
