Aspen Plus: Simulation of Direct CO2 Conversion to Diethyl Carbonate, Kinetic Model
The capture and use of CO2 for the production of fuels and chemicals has become increasingly significant. Various methods have been developed to transform CO2 into valuable chemicals such as syngas, methanol, dimethyl carbonate, diethyl carbonate, and polymers. Diethyl carbonate stands out as a versatile compound with applications as a fuel additive, solvent, and reactive intermediate. This video demonstrates a process for direct converting CO₂ into diethyl carbonate.

Estimating the Properties of Chemical Compounds using the Joback Method and using it in Aspen Plus
Просмотров 53День назад
Physical properties have been extensively measured and documented for various chemical compounds in the literature. For properties that cannot be directly measured experimentally-such as enthalpy, entropy, and internal energy-researchers have developed equations of state and estimation methods based on fundamental thermodynamic. Conducting experiments for thousands of chemical compounds is ofte...

Aspen Plus 12 Simulation of the Syngas-to-Syncrude Process Based on a Kinetic Model; Fischer-Tropsch
Просмотров 17721 день назад
The syngas-to-syncrude process converts syngas into a wide range of hydrocarbons, with C5 being the target product. In this video, we simulate the syngas-to-syncrude process using Aspen Plus, employing a kinetic model tailored to a Fe-HZSM5 catalyst. For the C5 product, the empirical formula C6.05H12.36 is assumed. The Fischer-Tropsch reactor to be simulated is a multi-tube, shell-and-tube fix...

Two key reactions take place within the reactor: Reaction 1 (desired): Mesitylene H₂ → m-Xylene CH₄ Reaction 2 (undesired): m-Xylene H₂ → Toluene CH₄ Reaction 2 is undesirable because it consumes the desired product, m-xylene, to produce toluene. The reactor performance is analyzed by plotting the fractions of H₂, me...
Aspen Plus 12 Simulation of a Natural Gas to Methanol Process via Autothermal Reforming

The coupling of sub-stoichiometric exothermic oxidation with endothermic reforming reactions leads to a net reaction enthalpy of zero. The autothermal reforming unit includes two reactors: a pre-reformer and an autot...

Hello. Many thanks for the video. Would like to ask about changing the dimensions of the geometry with a constraint on the number of elements and shape of the mesh. I would not go to geometry and change the dimensions in every time; I would just enter a range for my scale or type different numbers for such dimensions and perform simulation. How can I do that?

Thanks for your video! I reckon you made a mistake inputting the Ki values. Referring the article sources there is a constant in the rate of reaction formula (0.278) that needs to be multiplied by Ki values in Table 5. For reaction 1 it should be 0.278 * 142583.8.

Ladies and gentlemen, "COMPONENT 'BIOMASS' IN SUBSTREAM 'NC' HAS ZERO FLOWRATE IN THE OUTLET STREAM. FRACTIONAL CONVERSION HAS BEEN MODIFIED BY A FACTOR OF '1.000000'" is just a warning. You and Aspen can calculate the decimals with very little difference. Perhaps the decimal point is 1.0000002 rather than 1. Ignore this error if it is 1.0000. This is just a warning you need to be check, not error to run. If the value is less than 1.000, such as 0.98 or 0.99, proceed with your stoichiometric calculations. You can close the toggle of warning on the flow sheet on the menu if you want.
