    My favorite 318 engine along with the LA is the Magnum too they should make around 400 plus horsepower with better internal parts for a reasonable price

    Where i live i can't find power steering fluid. You mentioned about ATF. Would any multi-vehicle ATF work (motul, havoline, mobil... for instance) or do i have to use ATF+4 specifically (like Valvoline ATF+4 fully synthetic)? Thanks

    how do you get the key hole out though. im finding it impossible

    • @lokiryder5235
      @lokiryder5235 12 дней назад

      There should be a C shaped spring clip on the inside of the door. Remove that and it should come out. Some have a plastic retainer with 2 screws above the door latch actuator, remove the screws to remove the plastic retainer and possibly a pin/clip might hold the plastic to the key cylinder, disengage it and it should come out.

    Why do you want to reduce the plenum volume?

    • @lokiryder5235
      @lokiryder5235 12 дней назад

      I feel like it’s wasted space and compromises air flow efficiency. I could be totally wrong but I want to try and see if reducing it makes a difference.

    how many vehicle do you own? i still got the 98 XJ i never gong to get rid of it but as you go through your videos you have uncanny knack of doing great fabrication, slow and methodical and putting metal where the factory should of done, but you do it better i do appreciate your videos because i can always go back and review them at a later time when im in need of them, is it possible you could do a back bumper fab with a movable rack so its able to get at the back door with a tire at the back? i really need one lol. thank you for your videos and i see your channel is growing good on you!!

      Thanks, I have rear bumper plans and will have one in the future, just don’t know when. The answer is I have I have 13 and a half vehicles because I cut one in half and 13 is unlucky….

      @lokiryder5235 12 дней назад

      I ordered exhaust pipes from rock auto a couple years ago for the dual exhaust but it didn’t fit as expected so I had to cut and fabricate it to fit.

      @@lokiryder5235I’ve seen it, can’t recall if it was hypotek, or Beyer..: but I do recall seeing that manifold. Only issue is why ? Stock throttle body flows around 635cfm more than enough for stock, and aftermarket throttle body’s flow as much as 1,200cfm so what’s really gained with multiple TB’s 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @RustyChapman

    First of all, your automatic \6 didn't come from the factory with a pilot bushing for the input shaft of a gearbox. Also, many of the automatics didn't have a hole long enough to accept the entire input shaft. The '68 D300 pictured behind me originally had the \6, and '68 was the last year for the 10-spline, hydraulic clutch in the 100 to 300 trucks. I believe you are using the hydraulic flywheel that has a stand off to clear the hydraulic bell housing that has both the \6 and 318 bolt patterns. If so, that bell probably won't work for your app. I would pull the other eng/trans that you have and see if that would be a better fit. The throw-out bearing for the hydraulic clutch is also a larger diameter, so actually, nothing from the hydraulic setup will swap over to mech clutch setup.

      Thanks, I’m still getting information and parts to try and make this work but realistically I have to admit I probably won’t be able to use this engine with a manual transmission. It is always welcome and appreciated to have others comment and share their knowledge, thanks again.

    A problem with the leaking plenum is the bolts are too long and don't hold it tight enough. Shorter bolts will fix a leaking plenum plate along with a new gasket. Please let us know how your engine responds to the modifications.

    For those who find this late, the non-start with "TRANS OVER TEMP" displayed is typically caused by a loose starter connector. Locate the starter and disconnect the yellow positive wire from it. It's a spade connector that comes loose or corroded over time. Clean, tighten or upgrade to a better connector to fix.

    my 72 b100 had this issue and it turned out to be the actual light switch that turns the headlights on. I noticed when turning it to dim that the lights would flash on for just a second. Changed it and the lights worked again. Great video though. made sense of a lot of things, thanks.

    What would be next step if it also starts clattering in valve train? Can the sensor cause that also?

    • @lokiryder5235
      @lokiryder5235 12 дней назад

      No, the sensor doesn’t cause any noise. It reads the oil pressure.

    • @jparker936
      @jparker936 12 дней назад

      @lokiryder5235 yea that's kind of what I thought also. I've changed everything on my snd it still keeps losing actual oil pressure and will clatter in the valves. Turn it off wait a min and back to normal. I'm at my wits end with my 5.0

    I own a 94 XJ. I had been using a dash cam at the mirror bracket. 12v power supply by a lighter plug in. What happened is that the cig lighter adapter fell apart and the metal insert at tip fell within the socket while driving. An amazing and ugly bit of happen chance. A lot of smoke and burning wires until I could pu|| over and dig out the metal end clip. So at the bezel cover removal, I was removing and discarding the power supply wire to lighter socket and checking all the fuse elements. What I like as to your install is the well thought out pigtail set with heat shrink. My lesson was as the 12v supply, to use an in line fuse. A protection as where any fault will be shown to the fuse and not as a full power to wire allowing a melt down and hazard. What I really like as to your project is the larger precision to gauges. And where I notice a big difference as 4.0 engine, in my XJ (30 to 40 lbs, as compared to my WJ 4.0- 40 to 50 lbs oil reading at idle. I replaced the idle control activator and found much smoother, stead idle as 750 RPM. As the XJ models have aged, there are natural wear to stock components in vibration to seals, wiring as ground, and moving components. But in the end, I like my XJ best. For the visibility, simplicity and amazing 4x4 traction. As well as the tight turn radius. Great for parking. The huge costs at a new 4x4 make the trade off as an older unit requiring upgrade a good investment. Especially at the known fail points of the XJ. Driver door boot. Heater intake at cowl. Bushings and the like. All types of aftermarket parts can be fitted. But as you show in assembly, real care is needed to electrical 12 v supply. The planning and care of upgrades is fun.
