    I was scared to wear my hearing aids outside ever since I lost one in a taxi. I had no idea these retention tails existed. This will improve everything. Especially communication! Thank you for this helpful video

      You are welcome. We fit all our over-the-ear style hearing aids with retention tails unless the client cannot manage it or their ear shape doesn’t hold it in.

    thank you for this video, I didnt have any information on the procedure and silly me thought I was supposed to insert the retention tail straight into my ear, that would have been a hurtful mess. Anyways thank you now Im much informed on how to use it.

      You are welcome. We fit all our BTE and RIC hearing aids with the retention tail unless the client cannot manage it or the concha area (bowl of the ear) cannot support it. The retention tail often needs to be trimmed but I suggest your audiologist checks this so you don't cut too much off it. They should also be replaced annually as they loosen up over time and discolour.

    I have a Samsung Android Smartphone with the Phonak Tap Control feature and in sync with Google Assistant. I especially like the feature where I can receive and make phones calls while driving. However, I receive text messages and do not want to check them out while driving. Now I know I can send text messages using the Tap Control with Google Assistant, but I was wondering if there is a hidden gem where I can tap and have Google Assistant or another app read a received text message to me? Does anybody have any experience with this?

      Hello. You would need to contact Samsung to see if this is a feature on your phone. The Bluetooth in your hearing aid is simply allowing any sound from your phone to stream to your hearing aids. Thank you

      Hearing aids can be rechargeable or non-rechargeable. Either way, a battery is inside the hearing aid in order to operate the device. The advantage of rechargeable hearing aids is convenience of use, easier for individuals to use with manual dexterity issues and no battery waste.

    Wonderful video. I have had issues using this on my Phonak Audeo Paradise P90R hearing aids. I find the smaller wax guards much more difficult to fit

    • @AudioLogicHearing
      @AudioLogicHearing 4 месяца назад

      Thank you for your feedback. We have a video showing how to change the Phonak cerushield wax filter. It can be fiddly but at present there are no other options if you have a new Phonak hearing aid. Sometimes the wax filter gets stuck inside the receiver and you will need to return to your audiologist to have the receiver replaced.

    • @gldnrtrvr1

      @@AudioLogicHearing I use a sports lock on each receiver. Changing wax guards is terrible for me. Sonova recently announced that the old style wax guards will soon be used. New receivers will be issued. I’ll get them when I can. I m impressed with your knowledge and videos

    • @AudioLogicHearing
      @AudioLogicHearing 3 месяца назад

      We always fit the retention tails unless the wearer cannot manage it. We have spoken to Phonak Australia and they are not aware of a change to their wax filter system. Their current receivers 4.0 are only compatible with the cerushields.

    • @AudioLogicHearing
      @AudioLogicHearing 3 месяца назад

      We have just received confirmation from Sonova Australia that a new receiver kit/system has been released for Unitron and Phonak hearing aids from 15th April 2024. SDS 5.0 receivers are backwards compatible (Phonak Marvel, Paradise & Lumity) so you can ask your audiologist to swap the receivers if need be. Sonova will be phasing out the existing SDS 4.0 receivers with CeruShields. CeruShield discs will continue to be available.

    The SoundClip-A is a Bluetooth wireless device supplied by the hearing aid manufacturer Bernafon and a similar product is supplied by Oticon. It is used to connect between your hearing aids and mobile phones to enable a hands free experience. It also has a remote mic feature, which provides benefit for 1:1 conversations from a distance. To see if the SoundClip-A is compatible with your computer, you would need to find the compatible USB dongle to connect into your computer that will communicate with the SoundClip-A. It won’t directly connect. I suggest you return to your audiologist for further support.

      The SoundClip-A is compatible with Bernafon and Oticon hearing aids. A Bluetooth dongle is required to allow for the connection between the SoundClip-A and your computer. I find tap control a mixed bag. It doesn't seem totally consistent. Some times I have to whack myself fairly hard to get it to function. And I'm never quite certain it worked. Nice idea, but appears it still needs some work.

      The tap control feature may be affected by glasses and size/shape of the ear, however, reliability has improved with new software updates so I suggest you ensure your audiologist has updated your hearing aids. My clients have received more success with their latest hearing aid platform, Lumity. If all else fails, you can use the volume button on the hearing aid to answer, reject and end calls.

      Hello. If you have a Phonak Paradise or Lumity rechargeable hearing aid from the 70 or 90 technology levels, you can select the tap on feature through the myPhonak app. Please make sure you have updated the app. Go to Device Options at the bottom of the main app screen then select ON for tap on feature. The tap on feature is not available with the 30 and 50 levels or with Marvel generation of hearing aids.

    I cannot stand it! I am a Boomer so that might be the problem, but every time I am on the phone talking to someone, if I yawn too wide or even touch the top of my head, the tap control disconnects the call. I have to stand there or lay down like a corpse with my hands under my butt to make sure I don't accidently set off the tap control and end an ongoing call. HOW CAN I TURN THIS STUPID FEATURE OFF?????

    • @AudioLogicHearing
      @AudioLogicHearing Год назад

      Hello. The retention tail should not be very visible. It sounds like your husband is not inserting it properly. If the wearer cannot manage the tail then sometimes we cut it off; however, the hearing aid may not stay in as well. We suggest your husband returns to his audiologist to ensure he is inserting it correctly. If we can be of any further help, please contact us on 03 9754 4162.
