Car fire, was curious about it, cop flexed on me just for being curious. It was innocent enough. Skip to 4 minute point to see all the action. (Shout out to Kenny Rogers and First Edition Somethings Burning)

Saturday 3 of 6: Gal Chat And Chase Down Rider
Просмотров 533 месяца назад
Bumped into a gal on an ebike. She was surprised to hear that regular riders don't hate people on ebikes. Not at all. It's all good. Just want everyone to ride responsibly and she was doing just fine. Then I chased a fellow rider down just for fun, even though I'm saving myself for tomorrow.

Not my fastest time, actually somewhat slow because it's more than 11 MPH slower than my fastest descent. Always fun to soar.

Positive Support For Gal Jogging Uphill

Coming back from my Tuesday Night Ride bike ride in Irvine, I came across this gal (20 years old?) jogging and I could tell she was struggling, running uphill at a 15 minute pace. I felt sorry for her but also admired her for making an effort to push, even though it was obviously difficult for her. Turns out we all need to push all the time, even though it can be uncomfortable. And we should tr...

Serious Bicycle Crash On Group Ride Today

Jump to 4:00 minute point to see when our pace line came to a halt with a bad crash. Rider behind me got tangled up with a teammate who was merging in. Normally this doesn't happen. Poor rider got more injuries from his 24 MPH bicycle crash than some 100 MPH motorcycle crashes. My teammate has a brain hemorrhage, intubated, pneumothorax, multiple fractures and lots of road rash. 13 hours later ...

Yes, of course. Feel free to use it as you please. Thanks!
Training on a bike path.
In between agonizing groans....you're ok Eric...you're ok 😳
This is so stupid! Who the f does rotating pace line on a bike path! Dumb!
The answer is literally thousands and thousands of riders do rotating pacelines on this bike trail each year. On any given Saturday you will find at least 20 different groups with 15-30 riders doing a rotating paceline precisely like this one with many of them going faster than this. That doesn't count the 100+ smaller groups of 3-10 riders doing pacelines just like this one. Same thing is true on Sundays. Same things is true most weekdays, morning and afternoon and evening although mornings are the most common times to see this. It's amazing to me that people like you can pass such harsh judgement based on a snapshot in time of a mishap. Crashes are an inherent part of bike riding and bike racing. There are crashes in at the Rose Bowl training rides in Pasadena. Crashes in all training rides from time to time. Crashes in all bike races including the Tour de France. Ride on the street you say? Ride solo to be safe? Obey all traffic laws and ride safely in the bike lane with no pacelines, no other riders?? And get hit from behind by a distracted driver on their cellphone and get a broken neck, collar bone, ribs and ankle, like what happened to a female teammate 3 months before this video was made. You should get a clue. You're the one who is dumb. BTW, the guy in this video who crashed here has made a full recovery and he is now... riding his bike... in a paceline again... on this trail. To be truly safe we should wrap ourselves in bubble wrap and lock ourselves in our homes and never venture outside, ever.
@@deanhough8993 Still, just because others do it does not mean you should follow like sheep! That is why he is lying on the ground moaning! But you do, you tough guy! It's about right vs. wrong, and you and all of you who are doing this on the bike path are WRONG!
Love to see it Dean!
I love it 😂 saved yourself thousands here

midlife crisis. Literally!
Any update on your buddy? We hope he is doing ok!
Yes, after being in a coma for 2.5 weeks, he came out of it and struggled for a few days. Then he rapidly got better and now for the past 2+ weeks he goes for hikes and is riding on his stationary bike. Looks like a full recovery. Also, thanks for asking. Thoughtful of you.
@@deanhough8993 Thank you for the great news!
How is your friend healing up after the crash?
Thoughtful of you to ask. He was in a coma for 2.5 weeks which is a very long time but then he snapped out of it. He was slow to regain the ability to walk properly and talk properly but after about 2 weeks of being awake he began to rapidly improve. After another 3 weeks he was fully normal and resumed riding in a cautious and controlled manner. He's basically back to normal and fine and doesn't seem to have any lasting impairment. That was a lot more than he had bargained for.
@@deanhough8993 Glad to hear. I was really hoping he would get better. Thank goodness. Also, thank you for your reply.
@@deanhough8993 So glad to hear. Thank you for your response.
Guess the firemen there are keeping busy😂🤦

Thanks!
Maybe these clowns will slow down now 😮
There was another crash today from this group. Hope that guy is ok.
Fred activities. Hope he makes a full recovery.
Imagine riding a bicycle
and people complain about ebikes
Nice ride😊🏆🏆
That bike path is too small for rotating. I hope that the rider recovers. Cycling is still awesome, but yall need to look at where you are being safe. Lessons learned here.
pathletes. smh
Bunch of karens & Democrats....
✌🏼💪
That state of yours is always on fire. He's just jealous because he can't pick up a bike and walk up a hill.
🙏
Thank you for your kindness and support. The poor guy was in a coma for 3 weeks and was just woke up and is able to walk a little starting a week ago. He's got a long road to recovery. Bike riding is dangerous stuff. A gal teammate was hit from behind 4 months ago by a woman driving while looking at her cellphone. My friend suffered a broken neck, broken back, broken ankle and some other stuff. My friend was riding straight in the bike lane. Fortunately she is recovering and able to mountain bike now. But a month ago a nearby mountain biker crashed and died on a dirt trail. There are easily 100 different groups riding on this trail at high speeds each day of the weekend. I'm often at 28 MPH or 30 MPH on this trial. This was a "slow" ride. Crazy how arm chair quarterbacks have all the answers when they know so little. Some people say go to the track. Really? I raced on the track for 5 years as a 1-2 and raced against pros and I won about 70 races, not to mention coming in top 3 at least 300 times. I raced a lot. There are many crashes on the track too. Most riders can't handle the demands of riding on a track. And then there's the fact that there are only 3 tracks in all of Southern California and maybe one track up toward San Francisco. There must be at least 100,000 serious bike riders in California and we're going to make them drive to one of those 4 tracks and squeeze onto them somehow? Brilliant. But again, thank you for your kindness and lack of passing judgement. And to all the know-it-alls shooting their mouths off about having Tour de France fever and attributing that for any kind of recklessness... I tried out for the 1984 Olympics to do the points race and missed making the Olympic team by one place, beaten by a guy that I beat half the time. Four years ago I bumped into 3 fast riders on this BIKE trail and one of them was extra strong. I rode with them for 10 miles and they couldn't drop me, even though they tried their hardest. We were going 31 MPH the whole way. Turns out he was a pro Tour de France racer (Kevin Vermaerke), we became casual friends on Strava and he said he was impressed that I was able to hang with them. Even more impressing that I was 62 years old when that happened. I also raced with Greg LeMond back in the day, so I must have something going on. But it seems that I could learn a thing or two from all these experts here in RUclips land.
I’m sorry your day was dampered and your enthusiasm was deflated?

Ain't gonna lie. That was some serious Bro logic someone's been feeding you. 🤦♀️ Just glance at your personal and professional resume. You are beyond any "Bro" gibberish spit out by a guy who cosplays as a Goat 🐐. This average to small breasted women, with average looks, experience very similar struggles. And I'm not white. No offense 😂 I need cycling stories! STAT!

Bro you guys are not in tour de France. Just slow down man it's not that serious.
I know what happened,, a UFO came down and hit the rider,, what the F do you think that happened??? 😂😂😂
Good thing it didn't happen on a street😂
He got me when he said,Its so much fun till it isnt 😂😂😂. Shouldnt have been riding like that in the first place on a bike path where others are also riding.. Hopefully he learned a hard lesson, and his pals will follow suit..
Your post-crash commentary was idiotically unhelpful. Standing there stating how “fucking bad” the situation was did nothing to help your groaning “buddy” feel better.
I thought the same. I wish he had just shut up! The other guy telling the groaning victim you're ok was equally annoying 😅
Lol buncha goofballs 😂

Thoughts And Prayers To The Fallen Cyclists!!!! Where Was This Taken Looks Familiar
jeez, any updates on the riders? Hope they recovered.
I've held off with update requests because there wasn't any positive news until recently. After 2+ weeks in a comma and breathing tube in ICU, he regained consciousness after 2.5 weeks and is able to walk slowly at 3 weeks after the crash. He's got significant impairment of all kinds right now. He's able to communicate sort of but wow, what a bad situation. Meanwhile a buddy crashed in the Manhattan Beach Criterium a week ago. That guy broke his clavicle, hip, ribs and other bones, punctured lung, not good. 4 months ago gal friend on my team was rear-ended by a car where driver was looking at their cellphone. She was in the bike lane, minding her own business, broken neck, broken back, broken ankle, but she is making a good recovery after long stint in hospital. Bike riding is dangerous.
@@deanhough8993 : man, it’s good to hear he’s on the recovery path. Thanks for the update. Sorry for your other friends. It is definitely a dangerous sport that at the same time, we love doing it. Be safe.
So sorry to hear the extent of his injuries, wishing him a full recovery ❤🙏🏻@@deanhough8993
There are a lot of these a$$holes on the bike path in Sanremo Italy, too. Most with no lights. One guy passing me clipped my handlebars. He went down hard he got fucked up. Blood everywhere. I only ride with 3 others. And we are not racing. One guy is faster so we just let him go ahead.
Let’s go Dean 🤙🏽
