Building a mid century modern king bed
Building a king sized, mid century modern bed
My wife and I bought a new bed and decided to upgrade to a king size. That meant we needed a new frame as well. After doing some research, we found that similar bed frames retail for over $2k. We did not have a budget for that so my wife and I decided that we would try to make our own instead. I designed the bed on SketchUp.
I bought about 20 board ft of beech, 1 sheet of 1/2” plywood, high density foam (1”), and fabric. I had dowels and pocket screws and wood glue on hand. Overall cost was between $400-500.
I wanted to document the process so we could look back on this sometime down the road.

Building a scrap wood guitar

I built a guitar out of scrap/repurposed wood. I used an old maple fireplace mantle for the neck, some bits and pieces of leftover hardwood for the back and sides (B grade New Guinea Rosewood I believe). Poplar bracing and cedar lining. I built this guitar alongside a similar guitar using high quality material and wanted to see what the quality difference was. The result was certainly better th...

Nice bearclaw in that top and it sounds great! Nice work!
Amazing Guitar build and great inlays ! I’ve made a few kit and scrap builds but all electric guitars - acoustics just seem way more complicated, maybe one day I’ll do one
Maple is a good tonewood!
Great job on the build Mr.Friesen! What kind of wood came with the Timeless Instruments kit and what skill kit number did you buy?
Thank you! It is the skill level 5 kit (rough lumber) with a Sitka spruce top and Tasmanian Blackwood back and sides. I actually got to go visit in person and select each piece of wood I wanted.
@@FriesenMade cool thanks!
I am amazed at the homemade jigs, templates, and clamps that luthiers come up with to build a guitar! The video makes building a guitar look so easy. It can't replicate the hours and hours of delicate steps it takes to get a fine finished product, though.
Named this finished oil brother
Great sound sustain volume excellent ...
I scroll the video it is done in 2mins.
Great work! Like the shape. Looks like a cross between a jumbo and a 000.
Saludos desde Colombia
