I mean. I think the problem is not that these items require you to take damage; to me it's more of their effect. You cannot argue against tough times being good item, but it does, actually, exact opposite of what you wanted to show in this video: instead of doing something when you take damage, it helps you to NOT take damage, which is, exactly, option for "I'd rather avoid taking damage at all" about which you talked in the very beginning; Armored plate is basically the same: "I want to avoid taking more damage"; then, I see razorwire to be an absolutely enormously strong item if you can proc it often by yourself, and Rex is very strong for them. Hellfire tonic too. And you can notice that your run was basically carried by those items only, while other "on damage" items did help, most likely, but wasn't really giving you anything meaningful. Not to undermine video but still.

Idea (Il try it later) if you have a warped echo charged, and you can heal it fast enough, than you may be able to use void cradles/shrines of blood, taking 25% instant and 25% after, just heal a bit b4 the next damage tick
