Creigiau'r Eryri (The Eagle Rocks / The Rocks of Snowdon)
Another duet arranged from John Parry's 'British Harmony' collection of 1781. Edward Jones also has a version in his 1794 collection: 'Musical and poetical relicks of the Welsh bards' with the translation 'the eagle rocks / the rocks of Snowdon'.

Anhawdd Ymadael (Loath to Depart)
Просмотров 9914 дней назад
My third in the series of duets arranged from John Parry's 1781 collection entitled 'British harmony being a collection of ancient Welsh airs'. Once again, I've accompanied my Errington electric mandolin with my vintage Domenico Zanoni Neopolitan mandolin.
Hyd y Frwynen (length of the reed / the chestnut)

Another duet arrangement taken from the 1781 'British harmony' collection of John Parry'. I am very grateful to the viewer who pointed out the nonsensical mis-spelling. I have deleted the old vid and amended accordingly. As a Welsh learner, I currently have only basic working knowledge of the language and I always appreciate any help in this regard. Diolch yn fawr iawn!
Rali Twm Siôn / Pigau'r Dur (Twm Siôn's Rally / Spikes of Steel)
Просмотров 4821 день назад
A duet this time, arranged from the John Parry 'British harmony' 1781 collection. In the collection, it's called Pigau'r Dur, but it is also known as Rali Twm Sion as per the Ar Log and Cerys Matthews versions. I've overdubbed with my Domenico Zanoni Neopolitan mandolin. I'd recommend a trip to the legendary 'outlaw' Twm Sion Cati's cave if you're ever in mid Wales. There's a lovely walk around...

Another arrangement from the Edward Jones collection - 'Relicks of the Welsh Bards' with a variation thrown in for good measure.
Eryri Wen (White Snowdon)

Another arrangement taken from Edward Jones's - Musical and Poetical Relicks of the Welsh Bards (1784).
Ymadawiad y Brenin (The King's Departure).

My arrangement of Ymadawiad y Brenin (the King's Departure) from John Parry's 'British harmony' publication of 1781.
LLwyn Onn (The Ash Grove)
Просмотров 59Месяц назад
I thought I'd do another arrangement from my Grandfather's copy of 'The People's Welsh Songs' c.1927. This is the familiar tune of Llwyn Onn, otherwise known as 'The Ash Grove'. In the book though, it appears as 'All hail to thee Cambria' with some rousing patriotic lyrics. My father and my uncle once educated me in some other lyrics that they sang as rugby players. Those lyrics cannot be repea...

I originally did this as part of a 'Secret Santa' gift for a colleague. I had no intention of ever putting this on my channel, but we've had so much rain recently, that it crossed my mind . . .

You've been busy lately.
This sounds like the song i would play going into a battle!

Nice one. That knee looks sore. Not another carpet burn? 😂
Not sore at all. Thought I'd mentioned it before. I have a hole in my knee. No idea when or how. Doesn't affect my running!
@reesspieces1213 oh yes, I remember now.
Reminds me of an old rugby song. The gardens looking good.
Cheers!
Found this bit of music in a book on The Druids. Thanks for posting this.
My pleasure. I really should get round to learning more about the druids myself. Have just found a link from the Museum of Wales : museum.wales/articles/1016/Ancient-druids-of-Wales/ You've inspired me to learn more. Thanks!

Where do all these titles come from?
www.alawoncymru.com/alawon/Tunes/Tuneset.htm and a few other places . . . . . This is just the tip of the iceberg mate. The question is . . can you stomach much more?😊
A bit of bad weather might improve things 😄
Blimey, you're on a roll mate
I try my best . . . The weather forecast isn't good for tomorrow though. I think the wind and rain will scupper things.
Another beauty!
Thank you!
Another beauty. Hyfryd!
Thanks again matey. 👍
Mellifluous and delightful! Love the segue between the pieces too.
Why thank you. I'm always grateful for feedback, but especially when it has the word 'mellifluous' in it!🙂
Best one so far. 👍
Cheers Jim. 👍 I appreciate the feedback.
You're on roll mate. Lovely bit of playing. Do Ozzie plays War Pigs on the mandolin next.
Ozzy Rules!!
Nice one. Lovely garden too
Cheers mate. Thanks for the comment!
Love this my man. Was raised in Llanover as it happens, and remember our school performing to this when Eisteddfod rolled around!
Cheers Rhys. Glad you liked it!
