UK South West Based Film business just looking to show off some footage and have fun with some cameras. We use Sony Cameras in our work although as a previous Canon Camera user and having fun with everything from MAMIYA to Hasselblad in the past is always welcome.
Hohem iSteady V3 The Perfect Smartphone Gimbal?
This is the Hohem iSteady V3. This Smartphone gimbal not only uses AI tracking and can take a payload exceeding that of an IPhone 15 pro Max. This also seems to be a better choice for a phone gimbal when compared to the DJI Osmo Mobile. So me and my friend decided to go out to Haynes breakfast club and shoot some cars to see what we could capture with the iSteady V3 Foldable Smartphone AI Gimbal Stabilizer | Hohem.

Today I was inspired by Thomas J McClure's Sony ZVE10 Cinema Rig FOR Under $500! This is a Sony a6700 Camera Rig for Less than $500. When we start out we are on a budget... I am starting out on a budget for sure, I found a few clients were laughing at my rather small camera. With this cinema camera rig for less than $500, they will be laughing no more. which iphone cover is that?
Before watching the video, i can tell you, it is a pretty low bar to set. The osmo mobile 6 is a terrible gimbal. The motors aren’t strong enough, and it has micro jitters all the time. I have the hohem mt2 as well, and it is just on another level to the osmo mobile. Granted that thing is designed to also take a mirrorless camera, but even the lower model holds a phone much better than the osmo mobile.

Great video ordered majority this stuff the other day after watching, quick question can you have someone with the dji mic and use the shotgun mic at the same time to capture background audio from say people without mics ?
You’d need splitters but I don’t see why not. Never tried

I rarely need to switch batteries, so I don't need any bulky battery solution, as I don't do hour long takes. As for the i-Phone: Since the A6700 doesn't have two memory card slots, I use a ninja 5 monitor, that makes sure I am recording a second track of everything.
Said the a6700 camera rig 10 minutes later: high temperature warning ‼️ 🔥 🫠
I only ever overheated once. We were stuck in a padded studio filming a drummer and we had turned the heating on so we could get the sweat flying off him and was filming at 120fps 🤣 still lasted over 30 minutes before the warning came up
Good to know your personal experience. There’s been so much inconsistency around the A6700’s overheating threshold.

You definitely should use the 6700 for video and the 6400 for pictures. The 10 bit video out of 6700 will be much more flexible in post compared to the 8bit video coming out of the 6400.

Great video, and great tip on the Monitor+ app, as I just tried it on my 6700 and it is a game changer! How are you finding the heat management on that camera, when on the rig like that?
not too bad I have had a few overheats but I was stuck in a studio with 5 1000w lights and the heating stuck on
i'm glad there's someone mention Monitor+ app but the only sad thing for me, i can't make use Wireless feature because i had old sony cam and now i really frustated can charge phone and camera at same time because charging/data port occupied #wipetears

Does this smallrig cage also fit on the a6000. It’s not advertised as such but I can’t figure out why it wouldn’t
I don’t think so as there are slight changes to the grip and thickness there is a good a6000 small rig cage I think it’s smallrig number 3164

Do you have a dummy battery in the camera with the K&F battery doing the powering?
Nope. I just have the battery powering the camera via usb type c

This looks like a serious bit of kit!! Do you know if there is a full frame version of this at all that I can set up on my video rig?
Sony do a 16-35mm but it’s 2 grand, there is a a Gmaster 12-24mm but it’s just as expensive. I would recommend the sigma 14-24mm DGDN art. Half the price but an awesome lens

What is the latency like for the camera signal to your iPhone? Reviews of Monitor+ on the app store are less than stellar, and a lot of people are noting too much lag to be used as a real time monitor.

Tbh this was a nice first video, audio quality sounds good and video quality looks good. Maybe the white background is just too white 😂 but it could be just me having horrible eyes 😂 Recently i bought a field monitor, however I'm not enjoying it as much as i thought. Does the monitor plus app lag? If yes, how much? I was thinking of returning the monitor and buying a new phone (i have an old android). The main drawback of the monitor is that i use a Sony ecm-b10 mic, and it records the monitor noise, which dedeats the purpose of having an on camera mic.
Hello thank you for the kind words, I am working on the too white bg by wrapping a desk, this was recording with a tv screen behind me as a temp solution, So monitor plus has a small amount of lag when used wirelessly, but its no more than .3 ms so very useable. there is no lag when using it in wired mode to the camera (if the camera supports it. which camera do you have? To remove humming I would suggest learning about reverse audio to remove background noise. I would search, “how to remove humming with audacity” there are some really good RUclips guides
