My god does this sticker album take me back.
Steve Harkness would probably be the most well known player from that obscure list of players.
Jamie Forrester, Darren Caskey and Darren Eadie were fantastic for my legendary Newcastle team in Championship Manager.
Background music ruins this video
Darren Pitcher - not obscure to any Wolves fan that saw him score a screamer against us in the quarter final 😢 Adrian Paz is a belter.
Great video! Brings back some memories and must admit, some there we don't remember
Appreciate the comment 👍🏻
Great video, this was when my interest in football peaked, really not bothered about it these days. Can honestly say the only one I have no memory of is Peter Whiston. Some classic shirts as well!
Up until 2023 man united had 5 goalkeepers David De gea £375000, Dean Henderson £100000, Tom Heston £57000 and Lee Grant £30000 Plus highly rated under 21 goalkeeper Nathan Bishop on £2500!! £565000 per week! There was absolutely no need to have that many keepers.
Nil Lamptey was a champ manager legend!
City have just been very lucky that they were the club chosen to be state owned by the U.A.E, whether you agree with that fact or not. Any number of big or moderately sized clubs would have had the same success with the backing City have got, transforming them overnght, just like Chelsea a few years prior. In fact, they were a bit like chelsea before Roman came long, just a bit worse. A middling club. It could have been Villa, Spurs, Everton. They picked City and that's why their flying. Have they achieved great things in that context? Not really. They've done what's expected. Apart from in Europe, where overall they have been a disappointment.
Overall they’ve been a disappointment ? I could have agreed with you on what you were saying until you said they had not achieved great things ? I think they’ve been phenomenal and the football they’ve played certainly under Guardiola has been the best football arguably that England has seen.
@@WatchItDrinkItIn Well, that is entirely subjective, isn't it? It depends what your taste is. I'm sure there are fans who would claim their club played better football by some degree because, for example, it was more exciting. I happen to agree with you that City have probably played the best football this country has seen, but I'm minded that way. My question to you would be, why is that so impressive? They have a bottomless pit of cash and play in the league that attracts the very best players. They've acted accordingly on recruitment and brought in the best manager etc. They are basically playing Football Manager with a cheat code. Frankly they should be playing some of the best football this country has ever seen! What's to stop them?
@@WatchItDrinkItIn And yes, their record in Europe under the UAE ownership has been a disappointment. They should have got to more finals, won more, undoubtedly.
Leigh Jenkinson was a super player for Hull City, he was lightning fast and had his own shuffle trick where he would beat players all ends up. I think going to Coventry was a bad move for him I think with the right team or manager he could have become a really great player
Robbie Slater? One of the most famous Aussie players of all time, when you could have had Nicky Marker? Lee Makel and Frank Talia would be other options but I cannae remember if they had stickers.
It’s a fair comment. However Marker played more than double of the amount of games that Slater played for Blackburn, he was also a well known Football League player before and after he left Rovers in 1997. Slater although remaining in the Premiership (other than maybe at Southampton) he never really played all that much in England. The bulk of his appearances were in Australia and France which made him still fairly obscure. You’re right about Makel and Talia neither of them had a sticker.
Norwich City are a big team in East Anglia. 💛💚
And which club is the biggest in the ceremonial county and which club isn’t. 🤷♂️
I had about half a dozen stickers of Rob Newman for Norwich, it became a bit of a joke that every time I got a packet of stickers from the newsagents I'd somehow get Rob Newman again, haha.
I had the same with Hans Segers 🤣
Amazing video ! Amazing memories
chelsea bigger then arsenal, arsenal cant be a bigger club when weve one 2 champions leagues and 2 europa leagues and they have none , simple as that.
This is relevant to my interests. Great stuff. May we have a 96 one please?
Eddie mcgoldrick goes down as one of stockport's worst ever players. First game gave away a penalty v crewe. Second game played terribly away at city whilst applauding the city fans.
The West Midlands is not an historical county. Wolverhampton is in Staffordshire, Birmingham (Villa, Blues) is in Warwickshire etc. London is also split up by historical countys Essex, Kent, Middlesex etc..
Historically yes. But we were going off current ceremonial counties. 🤙🏻
@@WatchItDrinkItIn I'll check some more videos. Regional rivalries e.g. East Midlands, NW etc. might make more sense in a geographical sense. Also, the Welsh clubs may deserve to put in aswell, seeing as they are in the football league. Probably a seperate video!! :) I'll shut-up now!! Enjoyable video non-the-less.
Great vid but I cannot see Kingsley Black as being the least obscure. I had this set, no idea where it is now but Robbie Slater was the double sticker man for Blackburn.
There were definitely a few teams who didn’t really have anyone who was massively obscure. Other stickers that season was Mark Crossley Tommy Wright Steve Chettle Des Lyttle Colin Cooper Stuart Pearce Carl Tiler David Phillips Scott Gemmil Lars Bohinen Steve Stone Ian Woan Alfie Haaland Jason Lee Stan Collymore Bryan Roy Robert Rosario Having looked at all of them and their careers we thought Black, maybe Rosario? The rest I’d say were more notable either for Forest or others in their career.
2 passed away RIP😢
I still can’t get the Magic Eye at the back of this sticker album to work 😬
At least that’s two of us mate. The big player stickers on the front team page were meant to be 3D? 🤷🏻♂️🤣
@@WatchItDrinkItIn somebody should organise a football style Comic-Con expo……I remember going to something at the NEC in Birmingham, probably around ‘97……..I used to collect autographs (as a Chelsea ST Holder, which I still am) and I vividly remember chatting with Gary Ablett whilst he went through my book, commenting which players were good
That’s amazing mate, what a memory. I never did the swap shops that Merlin put on. Always begged my parents though
Never heard of Paz or Whiston. Heard of all the others, mainly through playing Championship manager.
Harkness was a steady performer, was there not any other oddities in thd liverpool ranks?
Just looked at the merlin list online, turns out there isn't. Well done you!
Haha yeah there was a few teams that were jam packed. There will be some proper obscurity in future videos I’m sure. Wonder if Sean Dundee or Erik Meijer had stickers 🤣
Great video
Good video for fans of Culverhouse
Remember Eddie Mc , am a blue he was shit, but was great times.
Best video ive seen in ages , Briilliant 👍
I would say this many times. "Who the heck is that?"
Why don't you do history of sticker albums ? From late sixties to now . I have the 1970 world cup album . Complete 74 world cup complete. And both 1982 world cup. Can't understand why coop. Issues this . Can't find any info on line . Few ideas mate and subbed. 😍
Love this channel
Can't wait until you do 97/98 so you get to say the name Paul Mahorn several times
In 96 Charlton were still Ground Sharing with Palace, Darren Pitcher just changed strips.
Nope - Charlton moved back to The Valley a few years before that. By 1996 though, Wimbledon were groundsharing at Selhurst.
@@cpfc4prem Yeah, now you say that, Ive shuffled the Charlton Memory around, Ive got their promotion to the prem and there return to the Valley, swapped around I do think at one point in the early 90s , 91/92 all 3 were sharing Selhurst Park at the same time.
Simply brilliant!
Thank you for the love 🙏🏻
Enjoyed that, should do it for other years
Yeah, definetly! 96 was the first one I remember well
@andycuthbert4413 The 96 edition is my Mastermind subject! So many factoids shoehorned in that I was like Rain Man at the age of 9... 96 has the 4 photos of the players on the overleaf of each team who mostly are in the latter stages of their careers (like Mark Walters and Grobbelaar from memory) or potential breakthrough hitters
Ian Butterworth, Norwich City, had about 50 of them. As did my mates.
GLORY GLORY MAN UNITED!
MANNYS BLUE !!!
@@Alfie-in1t it's always been red mate.
@@nisarafsar8839 its blue pal
@@Alfie-in1t how old are you? according to stats, you are most likely a 10 year old. So real with it MANCHESTER IS RED!
1st place Croydon - Crystal Palace 2nd place - bromley fc
Remember adie mike at pools, really nice guy but wasnt great sadly struggled to get into the team.
Well, this confirms Merlin didn't have the slightest clue what they were on about
Kings lynn are bigger than Narwich
🤣😂😂
Great video. Right up my street. I remember this sticker album well.
What a great video. The 1994 album was the closest I got to completing an album. I believe I was 23 stickers away. Got, got, need!
I'll always remember Ian Selley. He was the last player I needed to complete the book. It felt so amazing to finally complete it. Fast forward 10 years and i saw him score for Woking against Barnet.

Life fucking sucks when you cannot find missing stuff. For example, my very own Merlins 1993/94 Premier League Sticker Album.I have the 1994/95 album but for the life of me I don't know what happened to the 93/94. It's at times like this that I absolutely do NOT care for family members. The amount of my stuff those assholes have thrown away good grief.
