    Hello sir. Thanks for sharing. I had an EMG done roughly 3 weeks ago to investigate muscle twitching in my right arm. ( not sure if that was recommended ). The emg was uncomfortable. I jumped at one point during the exam during the NVC part. The examiner apologised. It was over my ulnar nerve. I was told my EMG was normal. Apart from a mild ulnar neuropathy ( velocity 40) I was unaware nor did I have symptoms of neuropathy prior to the exam ever . Now 3 weeks later and i am still having excruciating burning in my palm 5th and 4th digit and shocky feelings in my arm after the EMG, all of which is new to me. Is this normal? Can the emg cause nerve damage ? If so how can I find out? I was told by a colleague that during the needle portion no needles was placed near my ulnar or elbow region. Can the volts during NVC cause nerve damage or irritation that lasts this long ? Are EMG standardised so that the examiner cannot exceed unsafe voltage? And is any of this temporary from your experience? Thank you kindly for any input you may have.

    I had a hip replacement 5 years ago. The first ortho I saw said the MRI showed that I wasn't "ready" for a replacement as he said I was not yet "bone on bone". But I was in excruciating pain. I was 46 years old and couldn't even stand up without a cane or crutches. No amount of Ibuprofen would even touch the pain and that's all he would prescribe. So I went to anoher doc who examined me and read the MRI report. He got a confused look on his face and said he'd be back in a few. After about 10 minutes he came back into the exam room. He said I needed a new hip and hat the MRI had been read incorrectly. I was, in fact, bone on bone. Months of suffering for NO reason. 2 weeks later I had a new hip and was recovering. Now I'm back to running and doing martial arts like there was never a problem.

    My hip pain 1 Effect my sleep if i dont do exercise. If i dont exercises for the hip the night tightness will be worse. Pain is 2-3/10 but tightness of the muscles. Even if I do exercise (recomended by physio) the hip pain is also there but less. Applying heat oil is also good. 2 Not much range of motion problem if i warm up or do daily exercises. 3 Cannot play golf or badminton or run much. Pain of hip if i do. Mainly sleep problem. Level of pain is as describe above. 4 I brisk walk 3 times a week. But not too much the hip dont like it, so I do your hip joint exercises. So I walk only about 3km instead of 5km. Do I need a hip replacement?

    I'm in tears right now, my hip has been hurting since 2016, I was with Kaiser and had a Dr. who said my X-rays looked fine, then continued to tell me how there were patients with their femur practically popping out and not complaining of pain. He then proceeded to write in my record that I was fine, I asked for a second opinion, I ended up getting his colleague who who didn't even evaluate me, he said he spoke to my Dr. and read his notes and agreed w/him. Because of that note on my record every Dr. I went to in Kaiser made up their mind that I was fine. Finally in 2019 I went to a different Kaiser in a different city, and begged him to be that Dr. that thinks for himself and actually evaluate me rather than going off of another Dr.s notes. He saw tears streaming down my face and said ok lets see what's going on. He prodded several areas until he got to my hip and my legs shot in the air in pain. He then took a closer look at the X-ray and referred me to an orthopedic Dr. where they finally found the torn labrum. I had my first surgery in 2019, but I was still not able to do normal activities. I spent 4 years of Thanksgiving alone because of the pain. Surgeon said we were going to do a hip replacement. I was so excited because I heard so many good things about hip replacements. On the day of the hip replacement surgery my surgeon came to me and said they weren't going to do the replacement, instead they were going to repair it one more time, and if it didn't work he promised he would do the replacement. The second surgery was in late 2020, and here I am living a completely different life than my injury. I can't drive to work anymore so I had to take a leave of absence, I use to love cooking for my family but I can't stand long enough to make a decent meal. My house is a wreck because It hurts to walk for more than 15 minutes bending over to pick up toys. I can't drive my girls to school. I'm a complete hermit now. Before this I was always active, I feel so alone in my pain and suffering. We just changed insurance to try to get the help I need. I feel like I'm slowly dying on my couch. Do you have an office in LA or Long Beach California?

    I'm 60 years old . 39 days out from total left hip replacement operation anterior . I still have to use my cane and crutches everyday all day . I've had 1 post op appointment and 4 physical therapy visits . After expressing my concerns to the doctor I was told that I was healing and there were no visible signs of infection and everything looks good . My hip ( outer side of leg ) , groin , thigh , knee , shin bone are painful to the touch and movement . My pain level is always 10 out of 100 and has to be addressed with pain management medication . Standing up straight and walking are painful . I don't see any closeness to a change in my quality of life getting any better .

      I'm very sorry to hear that; all surgeries have risks associated with them. It is very important to find the correct surgeon. Before going into a major operation, you should always ask friends, family members and search the surgeon's online reputation. I recommend finding a doctor in your area for a second opinion.

    Just had mine done today to diagnose an issue that was first diagnosed as costochondritis (now they believe it's something else since 8 months of PT did absolutely nothing for it). They found small nerve damage in my forearm. However, the test was quite excruciating for me. The first 10-15 shocks had my arms flailing uncontrollably and my body was reacting extremely negatively (e.g. sweating). Is this a sign of the doctor's inexperience or is this just the nature of the test? I'd like to know because mast likely I'll be needing a wider EMG done in the future as per the results. Thus I'd like to know if I should get it done somewhere else.

    • @AzaleaOrthopedics
      @AzaleaOrthopedics 2 года назад

      Costochondritis is inflammation where the ribs connect to the sternum . EMG’s aren’t often performed for such a condition, possibly you are referring to epicondylitis or another condition . Regarding your response to the test. Patients' experiences may vary depending on who is doing the test , & patient’s tolerance of the test varies, but it is unusual for the electrical impulses to cause one’s arm to flail uncontrollably & the test is rarely described as excruciating. I’m sorry it was so uncomfortable for you .Possibly a high amount of stimulation was being applied, though if a person is anxious it can affect the tolerance of the test . It’s difficult to know of the physicians experience level. If you need another emg , it is your choice if you want to go to the same doctor or see what the experience would be like with another . Best of luck with your difficulty .

    I am eventually going to have one of these tests done for what I believe is carpal tunnel in my left hand and I was worried because on a carpal tunnel release video everyone was saying how painful this test is. Doesn't look as though the patient here is experiencing any pain or overt discomfort so that gives me some hope that I won't. I have the classic numbness between my ring and middle fingers with some slight tingling going on at my finger tips, especially the middle finger and thumb. Pinky finger is unaffected and the half of my ring finger next to the pinky finger is fine, too, so that seems like cts to me.

    • @AzaleaOrthopedics
      @AzaleaOrthopedics 2 года назад

      I'm sorry to hear about the pain in your hand. We have a Carpal Tunnel Quiz on the Azalea Orthopedics Website: copy and paste the URL into your search browser. form.jotform.com/211366802622046 I recommend seeing an orthopedic hand surgeon. Carpal Tunnel surgery is a relatively short and easy procedure for a trained specialist. As for the "pain" associated with an EMG test, most people would describe it as uncomfortable and not painful. I hope this helps you!

      My X-rays showed bone on bone contact. I had no cartilage left. X-rays can show arthritis which is the main cause for the need of a hip replacement. Just had my hip replaced last week on Nov 4 2021. Hurts like hell now but I’m sure my recovery will be quick. MRIs cost thousands and unless the pain is caused by an injury I don’t see the need for the additional costs.

      Well guys..had my left hip replaced Nov 1st 2021. Spent two day in hospital and all went well. No actual hip osteoarthritis pain as I had before but obviously a little sore from the scar. Was fascinating tbh..after they gave me a spinal block they passed me through a "window" into theatre and clamped my leg with a big steel clamp. Took 2 hours and I watched most of it..dozed a bit as was a early start for me that morning and my op was at 1pm. Two hours in recovery and then ward. My xray also showed bone and bone and my consultant said it should have been done years ago..

    1/3 of My right hand index finger is cutoff by motorcycle chain sprocket . I am going to be crazy 😭😭 . Please suggest me something that helps to regrow my tip with nail 😭😭😭😭

      Unfortunately, we don’t have the ability to regrow fingers. Most people actually seem to function very well if the index finger is shortened significantly by simply using the middle finger to pinch the thumb against. Thank you for the comment.

      @@AzaleaOrthopedicsI've heard your fingertip can regrow if you have some nail left on it?

    Hello, can this powder regenerate an half amputated hand without fingers??

    • @AzaleaOrthopedics
      @AzaleaOrthopedics 3 года назад

      Hi JoyWa, thank you for the question. It doesn't generate anything. It acts as a scaffolding to allow the patients own cells to lay down new healthy layers of tissue over an open wound and speeds the healing process. It won't regenerate fingers or lost fingernails.

    Could you do a video doctor about how you would approach a wheelchair-bound man or woman with severe rotator cuff tears? I'm going through this right now on both sides with massive tears. On the other hand I wanted to ask if you have heard of the doctor and seeing since he's supposed to be world-renowned. His name is Tyson Cobb. Without going to Mayo Clinic I feel won't maybe this guy is my best shot at getting back to somewhat normal shoulders. I have my MRI and shoulder fluoroscopy in a week and a half and then we scheduling surgery. But I was just curious being wheelchair bound is that going to change how you as a doctor we'll approach this. I've already had like five injections therapy all that fun stuff and nothing has helped. So from using my arms my whole life as my legs and my arms I guess that I've just wore him out. And I'm praying they fix the tears. I just can't see myself at the age of 48 having to have my shoulders replaced and looking at as they were out having it done several more times before my life is over. I just wanted to run this by another doctor and I'm curious how you would approach someone in my position
