What's up?
I play percussive, folky fingerstyle guitar with rhythmic elements. I used to listen to a lot of Daft Punk, which still influences my taste today I think. I now share my progress on RUclips as a kind of diary and make new contacts.

John was hard as nails,. deep as the ocean. and hilarious. and brilliant.
boy can sing innit
I never tire of listening to and watching this genius. Saw him several times in Stirling, Strasbourg and Glasgow, including during his final tour, which was of course wonderful but sad.
First of all, a huge thank you for all your comments! In memory of John, I would love to find a radio station that would play his songs for two hours and bring him back into the spotlight of today's world. If you have any ideas, let me know! 😊
A spliff n John Martin completely chills me out after a stressful day .n I'm totally blissfully happy.. Rip John .
I can't believe I just discovered John Martyn, in 2025, thanks to listener supported radio station KCME, Colorado Springs. Dreams by the Sea instantly captivated me. I look forward to opening his treasure trove of amazing music. Thanks for posting this beautiful concert!
Love him, a true f musical genius
who the hell is iu??
God how I miss this genius….im forever grateful I saw him live in Sussex University back in the 1970s ….talent doesn’t get better than this, still adore this man x
36:11 If you need a good sob.
❤️ love this till I die
Saw him on numerous occasions including the Nov before he died. Great
I saw him many times...my first was 1981, but wish I'd been here too...genius
Saw him many times back in the day, one specific time he was so drunk he just couldn’t do it. That was an awful night. But my overwhelming memories of him are those of wonderment.
I can’t even. Guy was incredible. Unbelievable talent. Trifecta: amazing songwriter, move on to tears vocalist, spectacular guitarist. Miss him.
Never seen this. Wonderful. Much appreciated for sharing.
Love him, a true one off musical genius, and a whirlwind lifestyle to match.❤
I am sad that musical genius ‘John Martyn’ died very young (at 60yrs). I love the sounds coming up from his guitar and his lyrics alongside beautiful vocals. John is still a massive loss but his beautiful songs, video’s plus guitar work and lyrics live on, which I’m thankful for. 😢
Wow! This is peak John Martyn. Saw him live many times going back to 1970 and this equals the best I ever saw. Absolute bloody genius. (See also Nick Drake)
What a virtuoso on the guitar... and on top of that his unique style of singing - amazing guy - thanks Rockpalast, especially Alan Bangs!
That guitar sound parallels a little what Larry Carlton did on "Hejira"
Loved Hejira also one of my favorites
love it. thanks for uploading!
Thanks, thats interesting....
this was way before the edge in a tea cosy bought his shimmering zimmer frame to hide his lack of playing ability....
You mustn't let U2 upset you so
At the 9:23 mark we can clearly hear the "signature" guitar sound of U2's The Edge who nicked it from John Martyn 😁
I think Gilmour also took inspiration for 'Run Like Hell'. But I recall Brian May playing with the delay in a similar fashion before that
Mindblowing, mesmerizing performance!
Johnny too bad .-a true genius -love his music -who cares about E.S ? i am shure he is sitting at a bar in heaven with a pint- R.I.P John and thank you for your beautiful songs
If you look at Ed Sheeran with a loop pedal - JM did it years before, I wonder if Mr Sheeran saw him and thought I can do this....
i don't know if they are two different worlds. john didn't have a loop pedal. he played between the delays, which is really an art. with loop pedals you layer the individual parts on top of each other.
Just wow, apologies i not very original @@ThomasK931
Sheeran copied his act wholesale from KT Tunstal
one of the all time greats joss waterford ireland
As good a summary of this man's genius and sad demise as any other on RUclips. Thank you.
This version of "Solid Air" has become my favorite!
Thanks so much for uploading this tremendous concert from my favorite artist!
THE GENIUS IN HIS FULL GLORY 🙏 Thank you for this upload. Keep it there!
You know that feeling when you're totally "IN THE ZONE", John MArtyn is always in it, shows us all what it's like.
Well put!!

Jimi Hendrix the greatest? Don't think so
I am 95% confident John would have admitted to still being Nervous immediately before performing many larger Venues solo like here at the Audimax that seats 1674 then add knowing its being recorded live. The Audimax isnt a very cosy Venue being a lecture hall located on the University of Hamburg campus in Rotherbaum but was and remains a popular Music Venue and I remember seeing Robert Palmer, Rickie Lee Jones & Big Country perform there but missed this Martyn performance but not several others in the Fabriek & Markthalle that are better Music Venues and where I got to spend some time in his company thru a mutual friend. RIP and danke J.M.
I saw him on this tour, at the Uni of Essex. All the local hippies brought their children and nearly 1,000 people sat on the floor. Transcendent music.
I was there ! Changed everything
I saw him at Sussex University, changed my whole life !
The German audience has no sense of humor at all.
They're German
May no speak English..and to be fair he isn't very funny
@@stevenmurphy9225He 100% is
When a string breaks, his way of keeping the audience with him is incredible. He stays cool, and once the problem solved, he takes the people Into a superb version of Solid Air.
@@gillesserrigny6324 that's such a cool and classic moment
He gives absolutely everything when he plays/sings, nothing is held back 💯
Seriously. So little distance between the man and his art. A rare thing.
This man is now one of my total favorite musicians who ever lived. Found thanks to Transatlantic Sessions, did some digging, found his incredible everything.
@jazzlehazzke Agreed! He was a walking musical genius. RIP Big man…
Legend. He is for like a secret escape.
Thank you for the upload! This has just been released on Spotify, minus Singin' in the rain for some reason :( Bless the weather is a real treasure!
Probably copyright
unexpected performance after his banter, lol, the true art of downplay. Being way more original and proficient than expected.
i am glad that john was a person who stands in the shadow of many artists yesterday as well as today. you don't expect much when you see him like this and then you are surprised with a lot of depth.
@@ThomasK931He was a man of Shadow and Light.
Awesome, a full concert I haven't seen before, nice upload !
