Today we are doing a cell phone antenna swap on a monopole cell tower in Gulfport, MS. The crane I am running is a 2020 liebherr 1250 5.1.     I am a union operating engineer and I can honestly say I hate everything about cranes lol. I don’t see why so many people, especially those who aren’t operators, think they’re so cool. It’s insanely boring and slow moving. Give me dirt work or sewer and water any day!!

      I'm a crane op and I love my job.. very well paid and enjoy what I do. To each their own though, right? As long as you're paid very well and enjoy your job then can't ask for much more than that.

      I can’t remember. It was either the jib had to come off to get the axle weights right to go into Florida or it may have been my permit was only for an indivisible load only. Meaning everything that can be removed must be removed. One of the two.

      A lot... I'm a licensed crane operator in NJ/NY/PA tri state area and I get paid very very well. I'll leave it at that. Lots of liability on the line that you're responsible for as the crane op so comes with the territory

      Yeah we call them boom dollies. Have to have the extra 3 axles in some states. They are super common over here even on smaller cranes

      @@Reynoldscraneservice When you make a pick, you plan them with the fewest maneuvers and risk. The pick (lift) was not well thought out.

      @@bills6946 that’s how it is in taxi crane. We didn’t place the units where they were, we just set the crane up where we needed to be. That’s a pretty silly thing to get held up on. That’s a brand new LTM 1250. The machine is designed to swing 360* about a million times so that’s what we do when the job calls for it. 👍🏽

      They are middle of the road all around in my opinion. Nice machines. Way better than terex/zoom lion but not on the level of tadano/liebherr.

    Great vide,, in the uk, our cranes can't use two blocks together, we would be given a 15 ton+ chain block to pitch the panels, so time consuming and unnecessary hard work. Takes seconds to turn stand it up with two hook blocks. 🪝

      Clearly you’ve never done this kind of work. I was well within the engineered chart for walking with equipment in place. This was day 3 on the project and I didn’t have any assembly crew with me. 👍🏽👍🏽

    The block up front is supposed to be in its sling for transport.

      Says who?? It works phenomenally without the sling and there is one less step for assembly and disassembly. Absolutely no problem with it being out the sling. Get off the internet and go to work 👍🏽

    In the UK we're quite lucky and can carry 60,000kg (132,277lbs) of ballast, the tackle box, big hook block and 4 mats on one trailer, altogether weighs about 90,000kg (198,416lbs) inclcuding tractor and trailer

    How come you don't stack your weights on the trailer then land them on the deck? 3 part the block and run a pair of 30k endless and you only have to swing once per truckload of weights. I run a 1220-5.2 and it charts 68,000 with no counterweight far enough to load & unload trucks off the sides and rear.

      Waste of time to do all that. Putting a 3 part in then taking it right back out to one part for the job. Not to mention all of that is more work for the guys on the ground.

      As a crane op myself, I can tell you right now that no license or school will make you a good crane operator. It's all about seat time. The more experience you get under your belt then the better operator you will be. It comes with time. After a few years in the cab and getting experience with different types of jobs you'll be swinging the boom easily also. BOL bud.
