The End Of The Day With Ray! Kicking Off My OEM Printer Security Award Program!
They have completely forgotten how to take care of their customers and employees!!! They have become obsolete in the office environment!!
Well at 6 billion in revenues I don’t think they are obsolete. They do have a tough road ahead in reinvention. The next year will be interesting to see the development of the reinvention’s foundation
Obsolete? Of course not. That said, they’ve been shedding a billion dollars of top line revenue per year for the last few years. My best guess is that their top line revenues will fall to $5.3 to $5.5 billion in 2025.
As an old 30 year service technician, I have seen how the new generation of copier technicians like to take a hands off approach to service. I couldn't wrap my mind around this concept. So I got the hell out of the way and retired. Good luck to the new generation of service techs. 🤣🤣
@@cozmicchaos6400 it will be about equipment not needing near the service as the past equipment. Lots less parts as well!
@RayStasieczko Yeah, that's what sales would like to think. But service is here for the long haul. 😁😁
@ service will always be around it will just be completely different
As a current employee of POA I can tell you they have yet to address any of this to their staff, like how to respond to questions, etc. I found out by putting two and two together and googling why Doug stepped away... not resign, just take a break... when I shared one of the articles with some coworkers I was simply reprimanded with no further guidance. I understand them not wanting to advertise this to customers but to not advise its employees on how to address this is very strange but honestly par for the course. I'll check back in if they're monitoring these comments and I get terminated for sharing my concerns...
@davevansickle8498 id be interested in an update from the inside perspective
I work for Ricoh. 👀
Thanks Ray, nice job. Xerox acquiring more revenue, to offset the declining print. I'm thinking it will be in the execution to see if they can grow a 400 million dollar company to a billion or multibillion dollar segment, in a highly fragmented it services industry. As you stated time will tell.
@@joshuaeuceda4635 thanks for commenting my friend
It makes you wonder who did what for promotions or additional accounts... The CEO seems like he is a master manipulator.
Matt very disturbing for sure
Never seen a print company succeed in IT. Every acquisition I have seen gets devalued through poor management and loss of customers. Confluence bought and sold. It’s all ground hog day.
I agree regarding the OEMs that have gone down this path. The only difference regarding Xerox is they are not an OEM of print equipment and are not managed through a manufacturing PnL. In saying that it will not be easy by any stretch of imagination. Xerox will quickly have to define its intentions and detailed deliverable.
Yes starting with Ikon . Only Marco has pulled it off

The printing industry knew there would be a decline for more than 20 years. They captured the market in many instances with a fine product. Management downsized the "IKON" marketing machine. Covid came along and they eliminated the entire service sector expense. Their business model in North America collapsing. Their digital footprint is largely supported by foreign entities. They still make a fine product and are likely looking for a North American vendor.
They have all kinds of dealers in U.S. Ricoh's issues are they seem terrible at integrating alternative deliverables into their sales infrastructure. In Europe they bought a lot of IT & software and services companies and it seems they struggle at actually implementing these services profitably. Ricoh is one of the worst operating profit producers of the all the OEMs. It seems Konica Minolta and Ricoh are in a contest to be recognized as the worst financially run OEM in the industry.
It looks like the ban is on Ninestar imports. If Lexmark manufactures state-side is that OK? It reminds me of how knife companies like CRKT started importing Chinese made parts and doing final assembly in the US for the sake of labelling. It fells too early to call for a Lexmark boycott.
thanks for commenting! I believe that Lexmark being the largest subsidiary of Ninestar the people in America should have stopped doing business with them the day the Ninestar banned went into effect. Too many focused on the American workers and took their focus of the atrocities of Lexmark's owners a PRC banned over forced and slave labor. American consumers and dealers have great power to shut these ruthless PRC entities down. Unfortunately the CCP bets every day that Americans who work at the American subsidiaries these PRC's own will pull the emotions away from the CCP's and the dictator who rules them.
Epson made terrible desicion.
They sure did!!
The stuff that happens behind closed doors at POA has been widely known in the industry for many years.

Ray. Canon has its own DFE called PRISMA SYNC. It’s a solid front end that is being used by both toner and inkjet. Customers are very happy with it and it has a long track record going back to the oce days. Keep up the good work sir.

Toshiba Tec gave up on Fiery many years ago. Has not been much of a problem in the SMB and light production space. Toshiba Tec does not really compete in the overcrowded Production space.
I am wondering why KM didn't buy Fiery 🤣
@@Matthias_Wagner Funny same reason Ricoh didn’t neither has the financial discipline or ability
KM has a RIP. They also own Dots Software who make a usable AccurioPro Flux.
@@georgemaniatis4673 in a short time KM will be liquidated and absorbed by Fujifilm
@@RayStasieczko This was more a rhetorical question ... because of KMs acquisition behavior.
within a year or longer? @@RayStasieczko
Xerox had a great DFE platform and sold it to EFI some years ago ... FreeFlow Print Server aka DocuSP ... and EFI killed it.
Sold DocuSP, Fiery (even splash back in the days) for decades ... Developing DFEs are not that easy...Fiery did become a defacto standard in many printing companies..operators familiarity does matter. EPSON is virtually non existent in the toner space ... Fujifilm on the other hand have already developed its own DFE..revoriaflow... it's powerful! Interesting space to watch
@@nilsur365 Fujifilm's Revoria (GX Printserver) front end is VERY good. Easily a challenger to Fiery. But it's surpising that it's not very well promoted outside of Asia Pacific.
One of the strangest acquisitions ever
AMEN!
I am really wondering, what's in for Epson to buy Fiery ... 🤔
Thanks for commenting!I am guessing EPSON acted on a dream. Now they will find themselves awakened by a nightmare
At first I was worried but then I looked at how many laser based oems sell Fiery solutions on their midrange MFPs. Sure there will be a disruption but for most companies the impact will be small. I also think this will push more companies to further develop their own solutions.
Thanks for commenting! I am thinking the OEMs will speed up their DFE development and run from EPSON! Most already have been positioning to do this. The disruption will be at EPSON as they deal with this terrible acquisition!
Great insight Ray… FujiFilm certainly aim to disrupt the industry! I for one would look forward to this prophecy being fulfilled!!

Thanks Joshua. It is extremely disturbing how inept our industry’s analyst and so called industry consultants are. Their dysfunctions give me great purpose. Have a fantastic week my friend
Mr. Ray, many thanks for those insights which are the answers to my last week's question to you. What's coming tomorrow? Fiery acquisition by Epson? Really waiting for that to hear from you Sir🙏🏽
Tomorrow’s episode is regarding Epson/Fiery A hint I believe it will be determined as the worse acquisition in the industry’s history!
@@RayStasieczko precisely Mr. Ray. I was so displeased to see that update as I woke on last Tuesday morning. Looking forward for tomorrow's vlog from you 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
A solid theory, but I wouldn't spend the money on Marco when I can on-board even more of KM's dealers, choke KM further, and make the KM acquisition even fewer pennies on the dollar... all while my new dealers are just cranking out boxes. However, in KM fashion, Marco could expand by picking up some of the direct branches. Marco has grown quite a bit by acquisition. Everyone wins.
Fuji will buy KM before the end of the year more than likely! Getting all the dealers. MARCO gives fuji an avenue to absorb the KM direct mess regarding All Covered and It would make sense for FUJI to control distribution in U.S. through an ownership stake in a large mega dealer as MARCO and any others that merge with MARCO. Interesting times ahead
I do believe it's time you also put a Fujifilm Coffee cup on your display...seems to be missing
Marcel I believe FUJI is definitely playing to win and I do like the bold ones who play to win!
Just a crazy thought... Fiery owns FreeFlow PS.... Fiery drives the lion share of the industry... Now Epson owns Fiery.

Amen! Jason it seems many of our industry's so called analyst and consultants are lost! Copy and Pasted press releases won't help the industry!
Saw Katun launching office color machines. Looked like Fuji Xerox engines. Is it true Mr. Ray?
@@simbatheking77 episode coming Monday stay tuned my friend
@@RayStasieczko looking forward for it Sir🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thanks Ray, it is fantastic to see you interacting with the OEM's and asking good questions. In addition, conversation does surface great insight; for instance, the case study of the printer, whose print jobs have doubled, but volumes dropped off a bit in the last 6 years, and at the same time his operating and labor costs increased, to manage the shorter runs. Automation has to be the answer to a more efficient workflow to reign in the operating and labor costs and meet production and profitability objectives. Looking forward to more industry insight in future episodes.
Thanks Joshua as the industry continues to go through disruption it will be interesting to see how the OEMs adjust to capitalize on the changes. Many possibilities and I will do my best to highlight what I see coming.
Very interesting!

This was entertaining on a Sunday Afternoon, and of course data security is important: however, on a more serious note, customers are not interested in how many awards you claim. They are looking for innovation, insight, value and problems solved in a very complex, interconnected and fast evolving digital business environment; the OEM's need to focus on delivering this to the market place, to make themselves more relevant, when there are so many substitute products to print-in a very mature market. In short, after a nice run of 50 years, print OEM's and the dealers they partner with, need another Chester Carlson Xerox 914 moment, to start a new growth cycle. The question is, which of all the OEM's has the courage to really disrupt themselves and the industry or will they end up like: Sears, Blockbuster and Kodak? Quite frankly, I think the dealers are in a better position to adapt and deliver a better experience, not necessarily led with print, to the B2B market place, then the printer OEM's do.
@@joshuaeuceda4635 thanks for commenting! Well said my friend
I hate to break it to you, there will be no future growth cycle for copiers. The impression counts will continue to decline until it reaches some point of stability, where it will remain. The average copier sale could be made by an employee of Best Buy and the average reps understanding of the technology is about the same level. The best way to win a sale is do a better job of story telling than your competitor. The dealers could help themselves a lot by demonstrating competency in delivery, setup and billing. The only thing keeping copier sales out of Best Buy, is the logistics tail for delivery of equipment, maintenance and supplies. Copier technology hasn't really changed that much. There are some edge case scanning things that can be done but I have to wonder how many of those are actually working in the field. Regarding cyber security, I work in IT, after thirty years in the copier industry. I feel like I can confidently tell you what most IT departments think of printing. They don't, it's mostly a nuisance. If you want to demonstrate a products security to an IT security professional, have the product PEN tested. IT Security involves a whole lot more than dealing with printers. Generally speaking, they have far bigger fish to fry. If you do happen to encounter someone from IT Security in a meeting and you're looking to impress them, ask them how they want the machines configured on delivery. Do they want the webpage enabled? Can you turn off unused ports when the machine gets delivered. Can you ensure wireless is disabled on the device? Good Luck!

I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that to happen. IMHO I've always thought all third party endorsements were the best thing money can buy.
@@brianowens8276 wasn’t intended to be salty. I appreciate your input! The industry will fade into something new and the status quo will fade away. Interesting times ahead for sure.
