Agree, if you have the budget for large TB SSDs. Currently, for storage, HDD (spinners) still offers a significantly lower cost per gigabyte compared to solid-state drives (SSD).

The RTX 4060 requires a power supply unit minimum 550 watts, this unit only has 400 watts. Note: that the motherboard and psu in this computer are proprietary. If you change the power supply with aftermarket psu, you will need to have adapters for the motherboard.

Hi. You are limited on video cards on this. Make sure gpu is low profile, no 6/8 pin requirement, and it can only support up to 200 watts gpu requirements.

I'm not really sure. It supports lga 1150, but hp only shows - celeron, i3 - i7 does not mention xeon.

The 1650 super requires a PSU of 350w or above, the OptiPlex 5040 has only 240w - you will need to change the PSU. FYI ... Dell and HP make their PSU proprietary. Make sure the new PSU fits - Apevia/Corsair 500w should fit - plus 24pin to 8pin adapter. The new PSU should have 6/8 pin GPU connectors already. @@jose-ec3co I believe this is a used/refurbished PC, they should have updated everything already. Put your RAM in, should work fine. If not, connect to the internet and type update in the search bar and click on "check for updates." Update everything including additional update. If bios was not updated, it will reboot and will update the bios - do not turn off your PC - let it do its thing. After that, your all set, install your 32GB RAM.

Yes, it's a really good PC - great for rendering Adobe After Effects and Premiere, for gaming - I don't game. I used it for a while until I got the Dell XPS 8940. Just be aware concerning GPU upgrade - this PC has only 350W Power Supply Unit (PSU). Make sure you check PSU requirements for your GPU. To replace the PSU is going to be difficult because HP uses proprietary PSU.

@@marcprebende8090 I don't have that PC anymore - it quickly sold. I never tried upgrading the PSU. If you try it and it does not work - return to Amazon. That's the beauty of Amazon Prime - return no questions asked. Don't forget to order the power connector adapters as well.

Sorry, I don't have this PC anymore. As I remember there are plastic clip/s holding the fan, then you disconnect the fan power and take the fan out for cleaning.

Push the front button in the front to open the tray, if it does not work (no lights/power) - you might need to open the computer and re-plug the SATA power and data cables inside.

Nice. Get a couple of NVMe install them in each PC. You have 2 very fast working computer/s. Just FYI ... will not support Windows 11, because Win 11 requires 8 generation and above, but there are work-around to bypass requirements - google how to .... Windows 10 support/updates will end October 2025.

@@MICROCHIPFLIP yep! There is a kind of Win 10 extension: 0 Patch. Think there is a small annual fee, but it's for.. 5 years. There is a kind of Microsoft plan, where you can keep Win 10 for about 3 more years, but it's kind of pricey! As a kind of hobby I look for electronics in dumpsters and curbside stuff!

@@j.lietka9406 Yes, I read about the Win 10 extension ... that's great - but if costly, it's not worth it. I sold a few of these computers not meeting Win 11 requirements but installed Win 11 bypass the CPU and TPM requirements - of course I inform the buyers. All of them don't really care bec it still does all the updates anyways. I do some dumpster and curbside too, but mostly I buy them from offerup and/or craigslist. I upgrade and do videos and sell them. I don't make much money, it's a hobby (I'm retired - and keeps the brain active) - and I just like messing around with computers - it's fun.

If it doesn't sell, I donate it the Goodwill, as I can't keep holding on to them! Found a couple of older Macintosh computers, they work, but haven't listed them on CL.
