Who wins eBike Hill Climb Challenge? RadCity 5 Plus, Ride1Up 700, Aventon 500 or Ecotric Leopard

Great video! 🏡🌿
They all suck.
I was born in Kirkwood and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma the next day. I have never spent a day there but would like to live out the second half of my life in Kirkwood. It's only an 18-minute drive to Busch Stadium as I understand.
good job 👏
Hello, thank you so much for uploading this video! Really incredible footage. I am a college student from Sammamish, and I am putting together a video to announce a new local soccer team I am starting. I was wondering if you would be okay with me using a few clips from your video here in my trailer? It won't be monetized. I am happy to send it to you if you'd like to review it. I am happy to give you credit as well. Please let me know! Have a great day!
No problem. Good luck!
What a Beautiful place. Too bad the people there are inbreds!!
Do these bikes even put out full power on throttle only? Pretty sure pedal assist is the only way to know
Your video is more helpful to my life than all others. I'm on my third ebike, lastly a 1000w motor, advertised with 100nm torque. It's a huge disappointment, not much better than my 250w ebike. I'm going to take your advice and buy local if my wife ever let's me buy another one. 🥺
Thanks for watching. I ended up getting one online as I couldn't find one locally that I could see would meet my needs. If you can test one locally I really do still think that's the best way to go. I'm very happy with the one I have but it wasn't without its own pain dealing with adjustments needed by a local shop to make it shift correctly. I'm on a first name basis with a local shop. They don't sell eBikes but seem to be happy to work on the non-motor/electronics bits. Good luck!!!
This reminds me off Tahuya wa off-roading place
Good eye! That's exactly where this filmed. Thanks for watching!
@@gameofdronesvideo2254 haha I knew it I love it there, so much fun.
@@gameofdronesvideo2254 I didn’t see the intro of the description… im blind lol
I knew that Rad overstated their motor power. Didn't realize that Ride1Up did too. Just bought the Cafe Cruiser. Thought it was more powerful because of what they advertised. Haven't been able to test it on any hill yet. The Rad won, but the power differences weren't much. The Rad passed the others, but just barely. Thanks for performing and posting this test.
Thanks for watching. Yes the Rad did just barely make it up the hill. I ended up getting a mid-drive bike with a Bafang Ultra motor and it's great but nearly double the price. The hub motors just weren't able to handle the sizable hills and my weight.
Still with you?
You bet. A/C is acting up again but otherwise I love her. I thought I might regret getting the automagic but sport mode and auto-rev matching makes it a lot of fun. Thanks for watching!!!
@@gameofdronesvideo2254 😐 whats wrong with the A/C? Not cooling or not functioning? +ADD more videos, because you are great in making these videos 🤩
If your looking for climbing ability get a mid-drive
Expense and lack of throttle are why I'm not getting a mid drive.
@@Andrew-it7fb you can get a mid drive with a throttle as most come with it. And four cost I have a trek marlin seven that I put a mid drive kit on, even purchased new I think would be very close to the budget on one of these bikes. I also have an ecotric rocket which is the same as the leopard but with fat tires. While it is a lot of fun to ride, it’s not in the same category as the one I built. Take a look at the review on my trek bike and it does give the good and bad about mid drive.
@@southernebiking I've seen very few mid drives with a throttle and even the ones that don't have one tend to be more expensive. I don't have a bike worth putting a motor on and don't want to deal with the hassle of doing it myself. Also, a lot of bike shops wouldn't work on it. I have zero interest in an add on kit and buying a mid drive bike tends to be more expensive. It's not complicated.
@@Andrew-it7fb I ended up getting a mid-drive Biktrix (Ultra Duo 3) due to the hill climb needs I have. It has Bafang M620 Ultra mid-drive with throttle. So far it's working great (760mi). It was expensive though. Double the cost of the hub drive motor bikes. I still love my Ecotric 500W hub motor bike and use it in a different location where the hill climbing isn't as intense.
@@gameofdronesvideo2254 Yeah, if cost was no issue, I'd get a mid drive with throttle.
Thanks for a very honest review of each ebike company that few of them are consistent with there claim just because of the shrewd and sloppy China parts manufacturer. LOL ⚡ 1
I heard that the graphics cards that hp makes for NVidia are not that good
You could be right. I don't have anything to compare it to. It improved by video creation speed quite a bit so I'm happy.
@@gameofdronesvideo2254 Hey at least that is good to hear.

Yes, those are cannons. They are, I believe 11 inch Dahlgren naval cannons that had the cascabel (breech or rear) cut off.
Awesome video its beautiful
Thanks!!!!
The best test seen on RUclips but never shows weight on rider was he 250 lbs ?
I'm not about to share my exact weight. Let's just say it's half-way between 200 and 250 ;-)
Yes, weight is significant factor I've noticed re biking distance of my Aventon Level.
I have my Rad City 5 Plus and have now put it though some tests of my own here in Asheville NC which is a mountain city with many hills. I can say safely that it climbs hills MUCH better than my old E-Bike. To be fair though, my old E-Bike is an obsolete E-Zip TrailZ that's at least 8 years old by now. It never could climb the toughest hills here even when it was new but I think it only has a 250w motor so that's to be expected. I'm still very surprised by the hill climbing ability of the Rad City 5 though. Not sure if this helps but on one of the tougher hills here, I thought the bike was going to stop climbing but surprisingly it seemed to bottom out at about 6mph and keep grinding up the hill despite having a while to go before I reached the top. It may have to do with how the motor is geared on this model that allows it to steadily climb at slow speeds on steeper hills, I'm not sure. Maybe I can find a hill somewhere in the city that it can't climb though, I'm sure it has its limits.
Glad you're digging the Rad bike. I did a bunch of research (months) before ordering, my Ride1Up, receiving it damaged, getting replacement parts and assembling. My wife walked into the RadPower store, rode two bikes and walked out with an assembled Rad City 5 Plus that exceeds mine in power. I don't dislike the Ride1Up but I'd probably choose differently if I did it over again.
@@gameofdronesvideo2254 Thanks! I will say that problems with shipping may be universal to some extent. I'd recommend if you ever decide to get a Rad bike for yourself that you get it fully assembled like your wife did. I don't live close enough to a rad store so I had to have mine delivered disassembled. Rad did a good job packaging it but it did have a couple of minor chips in the body, probably from the long shipping process. It was also difficult for me to assemble the bike and the breaks weren't fully aligned which required a lot of tweaking and a steep learning curve to get right. Granted I'm not a bike mechanic but regardless It's just better to be able to see your bike when buying I think. 👍
900 now at costco
Good to know. Thanks for watching!!!! Costco website is showing a similar model for $949 so maybe it's a little less in store. I'm still happy with my purchase it's working fine.
I think the one they have on sale has an NVidia GTX graphic card
Great test on different ebikes. I've found many large reviewers to seem biased and only show the positives of any bikes they're reviewing. I'm surprised everything but the rad was able to get to the top. I always thought that all these companies more or less use the same hub motors from China so performance should be similar.
A lot of the reviewers get the bikes from the manufacturers and I suspect might be biased but who knows. These were all bought with hard earned money. I did this review because I kind of thought the same thing about motors. Manufacturers providing confusing power specs (nominal, peak or sustained) and some stating torque while others don’t is of limited decision making help. Then of course the latest bike I bought came with a different motor mfr than advertised. All the bikes are fine I just prefer to make more informed decisions on such a big purchase.
Looks like the Rad bike’s rider was sitting much lower, creating less drag. That could’ve made the difference.
😀 That’s my wife’s bike and yes the seat is almost as low as it can go.
I don't believe that is the case, for this hill climb test the bike was moving slowly up the hill for the majority of the test. The air drag wouldn't have had too much of an effect. Mainly motor power and hub motor gear ratio would have made the difference in the hill climbing performance.
This is a joke right? Please tell me this is a joke
Awesome video Great Job !
Thanks! Be back soon to cruise STL, well, 1.5 months.
Can you tell us in a few words?
If you mean what bike made it to the top it was the RadCity 5Plus. The others fell short. They all stopped pretty close, within ~12 feet.
You got some nice footage!!

Hi, the first house is my house (with tree and stop sign). Thanks for sharing. Any way I could get your full video of my damage?
Absolutely. I don't have more than what I put in the video on RUclips. If email me at gameofdronesvideo@gmail.com I can send you a link to download.
The Arch should be number one. I am guessing it is not the list because it is a national park and you are using a drone.
Correct. The Nat'l parks dept is VERY sensitive about drones flying around the Arch. That plus as you say it's not really a sign. It IS absolutely THE symbol of STL. Thanks for watching!!!!
Howling Cats! I am sorry for those that were driving in those areas when this was happening!
The storm hit early in the morning.
We lost power I think around 12;30AM and it didn't come back until 11AM or so.
I know people who have major tree branches in their yard. Thank God they are safe and there home did not suffer any damage.
We live over by the high school and several big branches came down but not big trees, that I know of, were uprooted. We were without power for about 9 hours but I know others were impacted much longer.
I live in the area and I cannot believe the amount of destruction, especially the tree that were uprooted roots and all!
Most of the uprooted trees were along Adams and Argonne east/west of Kirkwood Blvd. The wind in that area must have been stronger as it did seem concentrated in/around that area.
@@gameofdronesvideo2254 My church is in that area and we had large trees come down in our preschool’s playground. There was a nursing home across from the church that lost huge trees, thank goodness the residences were okay.
@@michellejacobcik4244 I think I have pictures of that. If you look at 1:07 - 1:24 in the video there's the tree in the tot lot of the pre-school and after that is the tree down at the Mary Culver Home across the street.
