never again. Featuring failed attempts at connecting Dina's super, not-Nakoruru having annoying inputs, and the fine tradition of spamming what was 96's Mai slow fan attack. Do you ever plan to do a Super Mario Land 2 or Wario Land 1/2/3 hack with multiple levels? I think you could make a pretty good one.
Not currently in my plans, sorry. If I were to make a real "finished" hack it would absolutely be a WL1 one, since I know how the game works and I'd be able to add custom code. Making real custom levels is kind of annoying unfortunately, since it requires a separate ROM the WL editor can edit, and then extracting the edited level data for use into the disassembly, but it can be done.

This (really long) unused theme is thought to be intended for The Machine, mainly because it sounds similar to The Machine's theme in the final game but also because The Machine uses The Showdown's music in the August 1993 prototype.

This lost media masterpiece is better than the Nettou KOF games it was based on. I played the hell out of Nettou KOF 95 when I was a kid. It's the game I learned special moves on. I could go back and play it at any time, thanks to emulation, but this takes that game and blows it right out of the water.
One thing I do wish this game had is at least some sort of small impact animation when hits land. Like just a tiny spark or smash sprite at the point of impact, so you know exactly where your shots are landing. I know that would take extra memory & whatnot but yeah.
Watch this video in 480p30FPS & then watch in 720p60FPS or above. This shows why ALL games should be at least 60FPS. Even today, for modern 3D titles. 30FPS is just a joke.
Lol what was the glitched out nonsense @ 10:25? Seems this one didn't quite come out of the copy protection removal unscathed. Also gets buggy @ the beginning of rounds.
At 10:25 I show off the frame advance feature (pressing SELECT when the game is paused), which can be done on any fighting game running on this engine. I did it because it looks silly when kicking Geer out of the "invisible" frames. The glitched out sprites when the round starts are also there with the original ROM and can be seen on real hardware. It seems to be a problem they introduced in Super Fighters S, where in GBC mode the game loads the palettes and shows the screen before the sprite graphics load. This doesn't happen when playing on a monochrome GB.

While I like the nice big sprites, I gotta say that I think I would prefer the smaller sprites w more fluid animation. Both styles look nice tho, just the smaller sprites w more fluid animation is a bit more fun to play, & a bit more intuitive. Just my personal preference tho.
The quality is absolutely insane of these games! The music, the game itself, the animations, the fighting engine, everything is as good if not better than any other legit commercial fighting game release on the system! Am very impressed.
The game was built on the same engine as Nettou King of Fighters '96, but everything else is Vast Fame's work, which is quite impressive.

Friend, you need to see GAL FIGHTERS made by the SNK for the neogeo pocket color, it has an amazing quality for 8 bits... on the youtube itself there are videos of the gameplay and playthroughs. Queen of fighters is a low-quality reimagining of the SNK title.

Normally I would have posted the RAM cheat (set RAM address C1AB to 1F), but some time later I made a hack of this which restored/fixed Nakoruru. It turned out that everything except her name on the HUD was still in the ROM, except unused. Because that was the sprite style for all of the previous games in the "series".
