CSXT 7247 Eastbound by East End Of Dock in St. Albans
As I was out running some errands this morning, the sound of a fantastic Nathan K5H caught my attention. CSXT 7247 brought loads east to Dock Siding where it cut off and then began the runaround process to take the loads in to the John Amos power plant. I couldn’t tell you how long it’s been since I’ve heard a good K5H on CSX, so this was a most pleasant surprise. The 7247 is a newly rebuilt CM44AC, originally delivered to CSX in the 90’s as a CW44AC numbered 283.

N&W M-19 #65014 on Indiana Northeastern 2024

A couple short clips that my wife took of me running out Norfolk & Western Fairmont M-19 #65014 on the Indiana Northeastern this past weekend. The INE is a gorgeous railroad with excellent track, and I’m very thankful for being able to attend this run two years in a row, now. Our little M-19 has done so well on this 150 mile run.

Here's a "Part 2" to my analog audio recordings taken at Riverbend, just outside of St. Albans, WV. I took most of these recordings between 2004-2006, nearly 20 years ago now. Most of these horns, as well as engines have been replaced and or rebuilt - and some even retired. Occasionally, if you're lucky, you'll hear a nice older K5LA like these on CSX today.

Hadn’t gotten around to waking up the 2-Cycle Fairmonts yet this year until today. Both of them woke up on the first few cranks, can’t beat that! Will get around to lubing them up and inspections next week.

Here’s my $20 Facebook Marketplace find of the day, a 1906 patent date Victrola Model 111 Victor Talking Machine. Fully functional, but a little cosmetically rough. Someone attempted some plywood repairs on it in recent times to shore it up, to which I commend them on. Ex Conrail units maybe? Sure sounds familiar...1999 was the split you know.
Two of the recordings in this video were -Ex Conrail engines. They do have that distinctive sound.

Never heard of this horn, before! Sounds almost like a Nathan M series at times; and like a Nathan K5LA most of the time!
This horn was the predecessor to the M series, which came long before the K series. This was the 44th multi-chime locomotive horn ever made.

If you would paint this Leslie RS3LR horn other colors other than CSX, that horn + the horn sound fits on an EMD E8 with crimson & canary yellow.
