Dr Gareth Somers: Acting Coach
Великобритания
Добавлен 31 окт 2007
I want to give people the opportunity to look at actor training processes in the kind of depth we employ at Drama School.
There may be some 'tip' style videos but the Stanislavski and Michael Chekhov series' aim to offer a sense of the traditional backbone of the work in detail.
The Playlist videos should be watched in sequence and probably many times!

I Know I say adjective but also mean Adverb and give adverbial examples...
Your explanation of Stanislavsky’s method of physical actions was perfect and to the point. To think that some acting books will take over 200 pages to explain what took you less than 5 minutes is amazing to me. So simple, yet we as actors make it so difficult for whatever reason. I like your style!
Thanks, that means a lot :)
I just discovered your channel, thanks for doing this. I get so much value from your videos, how generous of you 🌸

Wow
Wooooooooooooooooo
Thank you
Wow
I should clarify that discovering feeling with the magic if is essential; because our actions emerge from feeling, we do not though, hold on to the feeling to "play it". We then try to effect some change in the world, our partners, or in ones self through action.
Just wanted to leave a comment. Aspiring actor from Germany here and I am very grateful for your approach to rectify the original ideas of Stanislavski and your helpful explanation of his intentions :)
thanks Daniel
Omg more of these videos please (: they help so much to understand it
I will as soon as I can, currently directing a show, and often busy!
Is Michael Chekhov basically just Laban? Can one use Michael Chekhov instead for movement/voice training?
A. no he is nothing like Laban, this is a senistisation exercise, and B. yes but it is an actor training technique.
@@DrGarethSomersActingCoach ahh gotcha, thanks!! I had a follow up question for that, how would you say an actor should train to “physicalise” via voice/face/body what’s happening inside so that the audience can see. Is there someway we can learn it like movement classes?
Hi from Turkey. Thank you very much for all of your videos. Thats a great project.

so there is actually connections with meisners method? in the fact that you let the natural feeling in you come out
there are many connections; both emerge from the Stanislavsky system in different ways,
