BICENTENNIAL RESTORATION (The Beginning of AFT#1's Cosmetic Restoration)
Can’t wait for the return
I was told by a Delaware River Railroad Volunteer Tier that 142 might be up and running on a Day Out With Thomas in August. Keyword (Might Be)
It's always a speculation with Steam Restorations, so it's always advised to wait until you see it.
Nice, I'd like to say about 1309. Its the 4-6-6-2
Is this locomotives be repaired and put back in service
The locomotive (1309) was repaired and placed back into service in 2020. However, the locomotive has spent a significant amount of time since then, out of service for additional unforeseen repairs.
Waving the flags too, nice!
The flags, and the line side telegraph poles add to the uniqueness of the shot we think.
I've riden on 2102 before it was one of the best steam excursions I've been on
We're glad you enjoyed your ride, and we'll agree with you on it being one of the best steam excursions.
Hi I think this is the only resotored Hudson? AND I think it is the only Hudson left anywhere???
Yes, it is the only restored "Hudson", it however isn't the only surviving one.
@@APSL2018 hi, and thanks for your reply. Where are there other hudsons?
Definitely the best voice for the narration.
We're glad you enjoyed the program and the narrator choice!
very nice video
We're glad you enjoyed it!
At 16:31, my photo taken Summer, 1978, @ McKenzie, MD. from the old road overpass. Warren Jenkins
Thanks to a small number of people like you, we have wonderful photos that documented the changes of our local Railroad's over the years, so we would like to Thank You!
It's crazy to think that 558 and 561 are now about the same age that 501 and 502 were when they joined the WMSR. How time does fly. I'm glad some 80s/90s GE has been preserved.
Oh the warmth in my heart hearing Danny
We're glad you enjoyed the narrator choice.
Great video! I love learning about places I've heard of, but didn't know much about.
We're glad you enjoyed it! 😊
Nice,0:10
Those old Chessie cabooses are pretty cool. I know Virginia Ave & Industrial Blvd pretty well.
3:26 is RARE cause you never usually see 5 Locomotives as Rear-DPU’s. Great catches btw!
Thanks!
It feels better watching this at 1.25x-2x speed. Wish the WMSR would actually run 1309 and 734 at those track speeds
A few of us can second your comment on operating at a higher track speed, but as your aware, money and manpower are always a issue.
734 is slowing being restored
Actual restoration has not commenced (to the best of our knowledge) and fundraising is still ongoing.
Very cool racing the locomotive. Was this done with an e-bike? I can't wait until 734 is back in service. Wheel slip around 10:21.
No, this was recorded in the bed of a pick-up truck about a year before the trail was completed to Cumberland.
@@APSL2018 wow that’s interesting that this was the last year to film on the secondary road bed before it became a trail I did not know that the trail was actually completed in 2007 very cool
Before the GAP Trail, the Railroad really was a photographers dream.
What was the serious failure 734 suffered in her final run special? Trying to find anything even videos and nothing showed or explained it.
The serious failure took place during a photo charter in early April of 2016 where 734 lost an undisclosed number of tubes during a run-by around Brush Tunnel.
@@APSL2018 Is there video of this flue failure?
Thanks for this video! Always nice to see updates of our railroad. Im usually on train crew, mostly only in the shops during the winter season. Nice to see them using the crane.
Thanks for watching!
I sincerely hope that the Georges Creek division still owns Alco FA-2 number 303 I think that locomotive and another engine that operates on the Durban and Greenbriar Valley Railroad in West Virginia are the only two survivors of the four FA-2 locomotives that were operated by the Western Maryland Railroad
Unfortunately, the George's Creek Railway does not own the #303 anymore. The 303 is also the same engine that you were thinking of that operated on the Durbin and Greenbrier Valley Railroad.
@@APSL2018 that’s sad
Awesome elevated commuter rail.
Indeed!
Very cool double elevated rails.
Absolutely!
Very nice! And happy to see the victorious crustacean strutting his stuff around the shop...
Thank You very much! You should definitely keep an eye on "Figment", as I'm sure he'll be around in the next update.
I live in martinsburg I love all this local history!
We're glad that you enjoy our content.
I volunteered n this system from 1993-1995 and actually havephotos of #734's initial run and a montage of photos and audio when Green Frog came down to film #734and the FA's on site at that time. I am proud of volunteering as a helper, brakeman and fireman with a smattering of runnning the engine. It is a jewel and so are those involved, past and present.
Please send us a private message through our website as we would like to talk to you!
👊 'promosm'
After years of watching RUclips I recently found your channel, and I love it. I lived the first 20 years of my life in Cumberland (1960 - 1980) and wouldn't trade it for the world. I didn't realize the historical significance of the Tri-State area until I move away (my dad worked for PPG and was transferred in 1980, to an office in Char. NC) .. A sincere Thank You to everyone who helps make this channel what it is. I'll do what I can to help support the APSL.
We're glad you like our channel! And we're glad that you had such kind things to say about it. We will do our best to bring you the content you like to see.
Thank you for posting this great and informative video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
1:43 3:25; NKP #765's Nathan 6 chime whistle sounds good.
Interesting to see the new US219 being built under the Salisbury viaduct..
Awesome video, and very up to date with the Georges Creek Valley segment. The only thing that could've made that segment better would have been to have Danny Harmon narrate that part as well. Danny Harmon was a great choice to narrate this documentary.
It was a true last minute decision to add the last segment in, but as your aware, we also wanted to be up to date. Maybe Danny would do another project? 🤔 Only time will tell.
So , 734 should be back on the rails in 2031?
Who knows? 🤔
The more donations made to 734, the sooner it will return.
This documentary is a little bit more special to me because I rode behind 734 in it's last days. I was invited by the crew that day to come down to the shops and help restore 1309 back to operation. Unfortunately at the time I didn't have reliable transportation to make the 3-hour trip every other weekend to help with the volunteer restoration. Glad to see it's up and running though! It's really one of my favorite little railroads.
Glad that you enjoyed the piece!
Great video. I live in the area, so it was good to hear some local railroad history. Nice having Danny Harmon as the narrator too.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Love it! Thank you!
Glad you like it!
I wonder if there are any surviving WMRY Tenders used for the railroad’s 700 series of 2-8-0s. There is a surviving 4-6-2 Pacific from the railroad that is on display.
To the best of our knowledge, there are no WM tenders left from their Steam fleet.
I recognized Danny Harmons voice immediately!
No way that’s Danny Harmon’s voice!
Isn’t 734 getting a 1472 done?
Visit www.wmsr.com for information pertaining to the restoration of WMSR 734.
1238 is coming to Waterloo Central Railroad to be restored in Ontario
Just click on your video and already I'm delighted to hear Danny Harmon's voice. Great narrator choice!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video!
We're glad you enjoyed it!
This kinda feels something like an old History Channel documentary(or at least ones they used to run) when they were good. Neat, even more because it's talking about Maryland.
Thank You for those kind words!
Fantastic video! I rode behind 734 when I was in Cumberland back in 98 for engineer school with Csx. Also, we chased 1309 in 21 when she returned to service and rode behind her in 22. Very class act operation!!
Very cool!
Love our local railroads. Can't wait till the George's Creek Division is fully realized.
I'm detecting Danny Harmon's voice...
You would be correct.
dude is a legend.
Same!
@@APSL2018hello again railfans
Very nicely done - enjoyable and informative!
Thank you kindly!
