Why does the train blow it's horn when there are no railraod crossings in sight? Is it because the engineer spotted the tourists and yourself filming and gave a horn salute?

My son likes the timber trestle at 8:44 and judging by the bell in the nose he believes that WAMX 5012 used to be a Chicago and Northwestern locomotive. He also wonders what railroad this is?
