Interesting voice. Her vibrato sounds like she's a bird, which sounds great. And she has a crazy high range. Very unfamiliar with her songs, but I can't say her style, or song choices resonate with me.

Karen Carpenter’s vocal range is actually B2-Bb5. The B2 can be heard in an impromptu acapella version of “Top of the World” from an interview where she is telling a story about a live performance of the song in which a fly was buzzing around her drum set and she destroyed the tune.

In the highest register , In the Studio they almost always double track her voice o put some strong backing vocals. She had an amazing range, It´s difficult to define ,some say Alto (Richard Carpenter himself sayd that in a few Documentals, Contra Alto, and here in the description (witch I don´t agree) says <Metzzo Soprano>, It´s a similar case as Paul MC Carteney in his young to 50´s, he had such and amazing range that couldn´t be specified. From this video I would say she is between Contra Alto in the lower range, and alto o Mezzo in the highest range in with she didn´t sound confortable IMHO. Anyway an amazing voice, and a sad life, she could be alive today with the right doctors and less demand from record labels and Richard Himself, in 1980 It was in Pathology books Anorexia Nerviosa. They say they didn´t know , at the time, what was her diagnosis, come on..a woman that spends 6 or 7 years starving, I mean nobody saw he was skipping meals, they live togheter till 1978 in the same house (odd) , Her mother found Diuretics and Laxatives in the closet many times, nobody love her enough to put her in a serious treatment, It´s a real shame. They used her to make money and didn´t care, or when they did care It was way too late, she died of Hert Failure at the age off 32. RIP

I think her highest notes were more work for her. She seemed to hit the low D3 easily. She probably had a couple notes lower than that in her.

Paul McCartney, for one, said that she has "the best female voice in the world: melodic, tuneful and distinctive." "I just want to tell you love, that I think you've got a fabulous voice " - John Lennon to Karen Carpenter. It was in the seventy's. Nothing had change since.

Cool true Karen story: She and a friend were going into a restaurant in L.A. and John Lennon was coming out. When he saw Karen he stopped, turned around and said “Love, you have a fabulous voice.” Well! Karen couldn’t move. She turned to her friend & said “Do you think he really meant that? Do you?” She was so bowled over by his words. The friend said “Yes, Karen, he really meant it.” Karen repeated the same question “Do you think he meant that?” The friend was exasperated! Everybody knew about John’s razor sharp wit & temper. He did not suffer fools gladly & wasn’t the type to say something he didn’t mean. I think she repeated the question yet again! Can you imagine the humility of this girl? That humility you sense with every note that came out of her. No, there will never be another voice, never be another temperament, never be another heart like hers. Karen Carpenter, we loved you so much. We always will.
