    I have the exact boat. Did not have a demo before hand. pretty new to it. I had the boat full with 10 adults on there and was surfing 11-11.5 (2500 elevation) )with no real issues with the m5 I think I was around 3800 Rpm. i did factory settings at first but had some people sitting up front. if I couldn't run at those higher speeds I would add weight to the front tank or take some out of the rear. wedge at 3. My camera was always usuable. I will say I did have a good amount of bow rise but not enough to require standing. I have my seat pretty high up. The bimini top isnt the best but mine slides pretty well especially if I dont slide more on one side or the other. Hope that helps. I dont think you are needing to add any weight. I think it might just more finicky settings on a 22. I did 12.2 hours the first weekend and used around 5 gallons an hour roughly. I dont know if thats good or not but that was basically under surf conditions for at least 11 of those hours because we live on the lake so I start filling as soon as I push off. but also its my first surf boat so I may not be the most efficient with it. Lastly The only real issue I did have is one of my back bags come unclamped and the bilges kept coming on but I thought it was rain water from the night before. But after the problem persisting for about 5-10 min and the back right bag kept trying to fill I decided to trouble shoot and I opened that middle hatch and there was about 8-10 inches of water in there. I say that because with 10 adults plus equipment. If I had 1000 lbs of lead it could of been more of an issue. I will say the boat handled it well. besides the bilges I just noticed the speed slowing dropping off lost about .2 -.4. Cheers P.S im not a professional or an expert so dont shoot the messenger. Im still learning myself

    Malibu/Axis dealer from Europe. Without the torque prop the m5di is too underpowered for this boat, your dealer should tell you this. We have an axis T220 and even with the m6di we are running with the torque prop and you need it, especially if you have plug and play. Your engine with this prop is struggle to get up to speed and keep it thats the reason it burning so much fuel. If you load the boat anywhere near under the camera, or even around that back grab handle you way overloading it!!!! The back platform should only be under some centimeter of water, and wave should be good. We doesnt even use the wedge for surfing maybe using it on setting 1. If you properly set the boat it should be enough. So all in all. You should drain a little bit of water out, more if you have more people. Dont use too big wedge setting, tricks are easier to do with more mellow and long wave, and you should buy another prop! It will help 100%.

    The price of these boats has gotten insane. You should have done a test ride which would have given you info about the engine power, bow rise, camera. My 2014 Mastercraft with gen 2 surfs fantastic. We add an extra bag in the center and can surf it for as long as my legs hold out. I went out on their top boat and found the wave to be longer but no more enjoyable. If you have a nearby dealer, mastercraft is a great option. You do have valid points, for the money the bow rise should be better for shorter drivers, the Bimini is a joke for all these boats….there will be a point where these companies have priced out of the market, because it just becomes stupid to spend this type of money….

    I spent $10,000 on a nine-year-old tournament ski boat in 2006. Fuel consumption is about 2 1/2 gallons per hour. I do all the maintenance myself, but have never had a serious issue. Obviously, it will not hold 10 or 15 people. But, it has been a wonderful boat that my family has really enjoyed. All our kids are grown, But we still enjoy taking the grandkids and others. It’s probably not worth very much now, but it still runs great and is a lot of fun.

    Sounds like you needed the bow tank. Plus if you add the ballast in the back you need to add bow weight. You will always be tail heavy without that. What motor did you buy? If you got an m5 yeah it’s going to be underpowered. Camera problem sounds like you have way too much weight. Wakesurfing costs a lot. Welcome to owning a boat and doing wakesurfing. The more weight you add the more it will drink fuel. It’s pretty simple. And if you can only afford a 3 days a month on the water maybe you shouldn’t have purchased a 200+k boat and gotten something used and been able to use it more.

  • @Memphisboatcenter
    @Memphisboatcenter Месяц назад

    We are Malibu dealers. You do not need to fill the boat ballast that full for the perfect wave. I am sorry Malibu pre-sets led you to believe that you need 100% full ballast to get the best wave. Dump weight and you'll find that you get an even better wave. I can't imagine it is pristine at this rate. The wedge and all that ballast is too much combined. Also I have fit four 50lb lead bags around the batteries. You don't have any storage there because of the ballast tank under the seats. You wouldn't need so much weight in the bow if you decreased your rear ballast. Surfing at 11.5 is fast which is what you're having to do with all that weight. Decrease the weight and I promise you all your problems will be resolved. The water should just be right over the swim platform. You can increase your tower speaker volume and decrease your interior speaker volume so you can still hear while surfing without having to relocate your speakers. Also the bimini arms have locks on them where they mount. You turn a tiny lever half a turn to lock them in place. I have been a delivery captain for our dealership for 6 years and have never needed to grease the bimini. Hopefully the frame isn't bent if you're having so much trouble. You really do need the dealership to take you back out on the water bud. I have had people boating for 30+ years who still use the key in the malibu and drive around all day with their nav lights on. This boat is so much better then you gave it credit for.

    Wow! I was following along until you said you sink your boat to the camera line and that answered almost 100% of your own questions. What you need to do is go back to your dealer and get one of the people to come out and show you how to properly use the boat - not joking, or trying to be insulting, actually go back and ask them to demo you in your own boat so you can nail it down. Right now you are drastically over weighting your boat and honestly you are risking flooding the engine and ballast bays and sinking your boat. The best wave in a Malibu is always found by starting with the factory ballast full - and then taking the rear ballast down as you add passengers and weight to the boat. Small riders might need half of the rear ballast or less. That will solve the power you feel you are missing (you have over 400 ftlbs of torque - that is the same as an older 6.2L), you will get better gas mileage, and you will not be throwing the bow in the air so high your wife can't see over it. I see so many people on so many boats who don't understand the boat - this isn't 2008, adding lead is not the answer. Tip - the power wedge and your speed act together to get each rider the best wave and push they need. Hardly anyone goes past wedge 3 in a Malibu or Axis - that is the longest most predictable wave. Ramping up to Wedge 4,5,6 is adding up to 1500lbs of down force that is not necessary. Two weeks is a short time - but it sounds like an awful two weeks because if the way you are using your LSV. The bimini ... I agree 100%, Malibu needs to re-invent that thing! They have a power swim step, so why not a power bimini? The Soft Grip...in the lighest grey, you are going to have to keep cleaning it. Next time get a darker floor. Go back to your dealer and start over. You have a great boat...arguably the best 22 foot surf boat on the market.

    Sorry you are having a tough go with the new boat. You have to be careful not to overload the boat. We have a 23 foot MXZ and the power wedge works really well but most of the time we have on 1 or lift. If you have too much weight in the back of your boat, then you do require more weight upfront. You may consider running the boat with less power wedge. They can be a little finicky to figure out right out of the gate. I do agree with you with the engine. We have an M6 with our 23 foot boat and it works perfectly. We had an older Malibu that had the raptor version of the M5 and it was way under powered. What elevation are you at? I agree that a new prop will most likely fix your issue. We found this cleaner called skipps hit the deck. Order some of that in and I bet it gets the stains out of your sea deck. I wish I had some pointers for you on your stereo and Bimini. We live in Arizona and it is hot and sunny pretty much all of the time. We have four speakers and it works really well. We have not had issues with the Bimini. Lastly, was your Boat 200 K? Who is your dealer? That seems high for what you got. I hope this helps and good luck.

    If the water line is near your camera you are waaay overloading the boat. I have an Axis T220 (basically the same boat) and make a great wave w/ stock tanks and front and rear PNP bags. Your swim platform should be just at the water when surfing. You don't want it submerged. We have the PW3 but hardly ever use it as the ballast wave alone is great. We also don't have a problem with bow rise. Keep playing around with different weight configs. Sounds like you are overloading the boat.

    No way it was $200k for a 22 LSV with M5. Should be more like $130k-ish. Still expensive, but $100k less than a G23 or Ri230. And if you are at any sort of elevation, shame on your dealer for letting you order with only M5. I went with the LT4 on my 23 LSV and love it. The shorter Malibu's are very sensitive to fore/aft weight distribution. Try running with no wedge and/or shifting people forward. Also if you want to hide the lead you can put it in the observer compartment and fore of the helm (pull the plastic tray behind the flip up seat and there is a huge empty space). Lastly, it's way easier to slide the bimini with the boot off.
