Keep on keeping on ! love the build!
Yaaay I’m a Honda head 😂
awesome
Why is your engine backwards
goddamn, 40 thousand dollars. people really have no idea how much these projects cost you. i respect the excel sheet breakdown. i have a sheet for every project ive ever done and i'm currently at about 17k for my ep3 track build and i just cant bring myself to spend anymore. its literally just throwing money in the garbage. i totally understand its about the journey and having something meaningful to accomplish but at a certain point i have to just pump the brakes. i'd rather have that money in savings or just save up for a 911
At some point it's a game of diminishing returns.
Did not expect to see DCTC track footage on a random youtube video in my recommended lol Great job on the build man!
Didn’t expect so many locals to show up in the comments lol.
I mean yeah if the diff in the back is open you won’t get any rotation from it.
peachy 👌
Your a cool dude, so I subscribed lol great video 👍
BORING!
Appreciate that!
I'm not a honda head but your content and your presentation had a good pace and easy watching. Nice work and have a good one!
Sweet work man, just got this on my feed. subbed !
Damn, that's inspiring!
If this is a track build and you "drive like a maniac", why isn't the AWD system from an SH-AWD TL?
I spy DCTC..
The one and only.
I want to awd my ep3 so bad. One day... Great build, dude.
Maybe a better rear diff could help with understeer? Probably a bad idea but you might be able to get away with a welded diff, go karts are setup to lift the rear inside tire because they have a solid rear axle so as long ad you tripod the car you're fine lol.
Sure as hell not gonna weld this diff. Looking into lsd options though.
@ I look forward to seeing the results. Very cool to see AWD Hondas on a road course
Feels like a four eyes video nice work!
Just went and watched one of his and you're totally right lol.
🏆
clean detailed build sir, would you consider decreasing the wheel base length to solve your understeer? sometimes the answer lies already infront of you, just solved it directly without any mods after sales market parts installed in mind though ..
Dude I just got an EK hatch (EJ6) and I've been brainstorming what I really want out of the build. A K swap is obviously what I want powertrain bc I'm a big Honda NA Vtec fan and I don't want to do boost. So I was thinking what could be done afterwards and I was curious about an NA AWD build, like a 2.5RS Subi which I see all over in the NE. I'm subbed and gonna watch all your vids now !
Amazing car, video and attention to detail. I dig your vibe. Sub'd! Keep having fun and sharing the knowledge. We appreciate you.
Dude, awesome build! As for the understeer treat it like a front wheel drive car you wanna loosen up the rear to make it rotate more. Try lesser rear spring rates and lesser shock rebound to promote better weight transfer, but combine it with a stiffer rear sway bar and maybe only a factory front sway bar (You can increase the front spring rate if you’re worried about excess body roll) to force the front suspension to have equal force exerted on the ground left and right. On my Focus ST I’ve had great results with having a little extra rear toe in. And lastly, run an extra 5 pounds of pressure in your rear tires over your front.
Appreciate that my friend. But walk me through this, I've always understood that a stiffer rear end works better to get it to rotate in a fwd car, and that was certainly my experience when it was fwd. How does a looser rear end and more toe in for this awd configuration result in more rotation? I would expect the opposite to be true...
Dude this build is beautiful!! Super clean and nicely put together!💯💯
Please make a video of your ice racing! Have you tested the response of your rear driveshaft viscous coupler? Put the front wheels on ice, and the rears on pavement, and floor it? How long does it take for power to get to the rear? Any perceptible delay?
I’ve already filmed a little of my first iceX event but my GoPro didn’t like the cold, so not much usable footage from outside the car. I’ll be posting it up anyway though. As for the awd testing, I’m keeping my eyes peeled for a spot with those conditions as we speak. It’s coming!
I picked this thing out of the crowd IMMEDIATELY at IceCross the other weekend, so it's odd to see all this footage from MAC events. How did I never notice y'all out there? See you Sunday, and maybe hit a crossover episode at Knock Off The Rust next month?
Yo! I only did one MAC event last season, those noise restrictions man. I was mostly out at DCTC. I won’t be at iceX Sunday but I will be out on 2/22 for open track. Would love to make something happen.
Very detailed build! A video on the heater setup would be cool. Also maybe look into a filterwears sock to help avoid water getting sucked up by the intake
Your wish is my command. Appreciate the info.
@ look forward to it
I bet it would be good as a really car as well👍
Beautiful build! I feel like it would be a blast to have a not so nice version of this car as a winter beater here in Canada. At least it’s completely serviceable!
I know why are Hondas are out of control ...... because " it's a Honda-apocalypse " and no one is safe.
What is the precise acronym of this Civic model?
CX
Really nice build, one day just one day I'll have mine. God willing
Both cars need driver mods 😂
Prepare to blow up my dude. What an awesome, well produced, info filled video. I had an EG about 6 years go, and I miss it every day. Thanks for letting me live vicariously through this vid. Big ups man.
Recognized that brick wall at JWP immediately.
Would love to see that video on a custom heater core, ive got some tight clearances and might not be able to run a stock core however I might be able to make something work that way you have!
I DID A AWD DC2 INTEGRA IN 2004-2005..PEOPLE THOUGHT I DIDNT KNOW WTF I WAS TALKING ABOUT WHEN THEY WOULD ASK ABOUT THE CAR AND I WOULD TELL THEM ITS AWD. PEOPLE JUST DIDNT VALUE IT BACK THEN AND ONLY PLACE YOU COULD FIND INFO ABOUT IT WAS ON HONDATECH..THE GOOD OL DAYS 😂
I was in on the first H22 swap motor mounts group buy for 3rd gen preludes back in like '07......and that's as far as I got lol. Had the mounts for years and then just threw em out eventually.
just change the rear toe to get it to swing out.... will eat tires a bit faster but you can easily make it kick out with toe adjustment.... or change swaybar settings. or both.
Feeling all corners force your asscheeks forwards is quite a feeling, rwd and fwd are still great competitors. But AWD when properly done, irreplaceable feeling; launches so brutal you feel your CSF boil from the pressure, feel your balls try to catch up with the rest of your body from a stop 😈 no fucking around. Don’t forget to mention the awd systems that can deactivate individual diffs for goofy fun.
Amazing build brother. Great video, there's no annoying music or unnecessary information. Excellent explanations. Keep it coming!
Suppressors on 50cals are actually great
Nice build, I'm also from Minnesota building a 94 coupe for drag
AWD must be the greatest mod to our cars...
Indeed. To answer your og question, I sprayed all the steel parts with Fluid Film for the winter. Keeps the water off and rust away. Salty roads here in the Midwest.
@ yeah, after watching over again, admiring the work, I could tell it was just shiny paint, so I deleted the question 👍🏼 I used Fluid Film on internal rollers, etc, on my brake test platform in 2020, on rainy days the water from the cars dripped on it all day when doing inspections..just tore it out to scrap, cuz Texas eliminated safety inspections…anyway…those parts were still coated and nice…Fluid Film works!
@ I couldn’t handle those conditions, road salt, etc….what it does to cars is evil
So it's 3wd with the open rear diff? Three is still better than 1 or 2wd with the LSD in front.
Basically. For the drag guys it doesn't matter as much (most run open rear diffs) because there's so much grip on a prepped surface. Road racing is a different thing entirely I'm finding out.
So cool to see someone use their awd civic to go around a track! Nice man
Would you ever want to add more power through forced induction or keep it NA?
I definitely have power adder and/or forced induction plans, just a matter of time. Won't see a turbo on this one though.
Bro!!! Make a video on the heater install!!!
Great video. Some very good perspective sprinkled inside of tons of organized information. Also this build is worthy of a Larry Chen feature for sure, top notch!
That's a hell of a claim my friend, I appreciate that.
