Leonardo x Stilo&Stile Momento Zero "Kintsugi" | New Pen Day #fountainpen
Hi friends, I'm so excited to own my first Leonardo fountain pen! When Stilo&Stile announced their collaboration Momento Zero with Leonardo Pens for Black Friday 2024, I fell in love. Not only is it my first Leonardo, it's also a birthday gift to myself for turning 40 this December.
The fountain pen is named Kintsugi ("kin" meaning gold and "tsugi" meaning a joining or mending). The Japanese kintsugi technique is a process of mending breaks in ceramic pieces with gold. I love the concept of fragile beauty that is representative of this pen. The material is transparent with gold leaf inside. The pen is a cartridge converter.

How Is My 2023 Planner & Journal Lineup Going? Feat. Hobonichi Weeks and Midori Hibino
I love it! I ordered one and mine is coming in January. Thanks for sharing the ink you paired. ❤️ This will be my 3rd Leonardo.
@@cindiflores559 yay, that’s good to know that you enjoy them so much. Enjoy!
Drooling!!! What a gorgeous pairing!
They’re great together aren’t they? Maybe next time I’ll go with a browner ink ink…
Gorgeous pen! I don’t have a Leonardo yet but it’s on my wishlist for 2025!
Yeah! I’ve wanted a Leonardo for a while, especially after I tried them in person. It’s definitely a well designed pen 🙌🏽
I bought one in July and just cleaned it and put it away a couple weeks ago. Wait til you find one that really speaks to you. I initially wanted a purple one and ended up with one that is a mixture of green yellow and orange.
Beautiful pen! And I love the philosophy behind it as well. I was tempted but don’t yet have a Leonardo and not yet decided which one I really want 😅 Happy holidays to you and your family!
I totally get that - I had to try one in person at a pen show before I decided to find the perfect design for me (none had spoken to me so strongly before). Happy Holidays to you as well! 🫶🏽
Are you bound to using only Plotter a5 refills or will Filfoax fit? Is Plotter paper fountain pen friendly?
I’m actually not sure for A5 specifically, but I’ve used Filofax Personal sized inserts in the PLOTTER Bible rings and they’re a perfect fit so I would take a look at the specs of Filofax A5 and compare to PLOTTER. PLOTTER DP paper is fountain pen friendly but just a note that their paper is a slight off-white compared to other brands (ie Filofax) white paper.
Sorry but I this video is basically worthless on helping me and probably most anybody else thinking about purchasing this pen and or nib or not. I would of loved to have seen you fill the pen with ink and write in cursive The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog aka the alphabet sentence along with wirting of numerals 0-9 and some X’s and some other scribbling to demonstrate the flow of the ink feed and nib. Sorry to be critical of your pen review and please consider as constructive criticism as opposed to mean spirited criticism which I did not intend it to be Hope you have a good day and a Happy and Safe Holidays
You are of course entitled to your opinion. I purposefully didn't include the word "review" in my title or description, rather it was just me sharing my excitement for this pen (new to me) as well as a sample of writing and drawing. If I were to review this pen, I'm aware that it would need to be more in-depth (and I would have wanted to have played around with it for a little while to really get an accurate feel for it). Sorry that this video didn't enable you to buy the pen - though it really is a nice pen. Perhaps there are other review-based videos that would be more useful to you. Happy Holidays to you as well.
Can anyone help me? I have a boyfriend who wants to start a collection. I dont know the first thing about these!!! He has a sofisticated/ industrial type taste. Can anyone make recommendations?
Hi! I would suggest going to a physical stationery shop where they sell fine writing pens and see what catches your eye. Some fountain pens that are great to try at first are PILOT Metropolitan or Kakuno, PLATINUM Preppy, TWSBI Eco, LAMY Safari etc. Depending on budget, you can go up in price from there. Hope that helps!
What's a button fill 1:35
A button piston filler (you press a button down to fill the pen). Here’s my video about it in more detail: “Esterbrook Estie Raven with Button Piston Filler” ruclips.net/video/PLIJyempER0/видео.html
Love the lineup, Carola! I have not used Chou Kuro but loveee how dark it is. :)
Thanks Julia! This is my first time inking a pen with Chou Kuro and I have to admit that I’m impressed - it’s even darker than my Tombow Fudenosuke (like how is that possible?!)
@@FromCarola whoaaaa!! darker than the fudenosuke?! that makes me excited.
Thank you for this! I’m interested in having different nibs; I did a google research and the first thing was your Instagram account, and now here I am. Glad I found you, your work is amazing 🤩 💯☺️❤
that ultra extra fine nib is amazing
Isn't it?! At first I was nervous to use it because it's really really thin but the nib just writes so beautifully that I got used to a gentle hold. Do you have one?
@ nah, i wish i did though. also you have great handwriting.
I love Chou Kuro, it is the only black I use now. Great lineup for December.
I have to admit that it's worth the hype - it definitely is the blackest ink and something about it is so satisfactory! Thanks!
beautiful collection thanks for sharing
What's up Carola! Yep I have that Chou Kuro ink and I enjoy it. I have not found a pen that I want to mess up and permanently ink with it yet. Have you?💜
Hi Rob! I typically use these types of inks in my Preppy or Kakuno (or similiar) and dedicate the pen to the ink. In this case though, I decided to use Chou Kuro in my Skogsy pocket pen because it's easy to disassemble and clean if necessary and it suits the pen perfectly.
I have the Eggplant Eco with medium nib. I inked it with Poison Envy by FerrisWheelPress & am surprised at how lovely a shimmer ink flows through the nib. I love mine ☺️
That's awesome! The TWSBI Ecos definitely know how to handle shimmer inks (for the most part)!
I just received my first Twisbi Eco today! I wanted to figure it out so I dismantled the piston. I DO NOT recommend doing that! It took me over 2 hrs & watching 6 videos to finally get it put together just right so it would ink properly, but now I love it & wonder why I waited so long to buy one!
haha and now you know the inner workings of an Eco! I haven't dismantled one and based on your experience, probably will not attempt it lol. So glad you enjoy it!
@ it was definitely a BAD idea! I’m really enjoying the pen. $42 including postage. So economical!
What's up Carola. I have so many Galen covers you'd think I have my own store. 😁 I have the smoky colored cover for the weeks, but it's not the zippered one. I love this zippered one, but if I got it, I'd be carrying around way too much stuff. So I didn't get that one. But since I am so easily distracted, now I want the one you have. 😆Wish me luck on not buying it. Or at least waiting til 2025 right? 💜
LOL your comment made me laugh - "you'd think I have my own store". Although I have quite a few Galen Leather products so I'm probably up there with you haha. I find that I switch back and forth between zippered and slim covers just based on portability and mood I'm in (minimalist vs maximalist) so maybe there's room for both in your collection. JK don't let me enable you.
@@FromCarola Dang Carola it's too late. 🥲I just went over my annual goals with my manager and the whole time I am thinking, if I track these in my weeks planners, I can then keep all my notes and whatever extras I need in the "ZIPPERED" weeks cover. 🥰 So even though it's my fault, I am not taking accountability til 2025, so I'm blaming you. 🤣But on the real, I think the zippered ones will really work for me this year for my work goals tracking.
haha! Well in that case, I’m excited for you to use a zippered cover and hope it’ll bring you joy. I’ll take the blame for that 😅
Great, inspirational video! Just discovered you! So lovely to see different ways to use inks.
Aw hi, welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed it 💕
Really appreciate the video! Might have to check out a Scythe now!
Yes!! If you have a chance to try the Scythe, you can decide the stock nib size for Kirk to grind 🙌🏽
Thanks for this helpful little video! I actually just got my first TWSBI Stub recently (same color as your coincidently 💜) and I love it, it is so surprisingly smooth! I always thought as a left hander I could not work with a stub, but it is really lovely and I think TWSBI does a great job with their stock stubs.
@@jannahlyonthat’s awesome! Thanks for sharing your thoughts as a left hander - my daughter is left handed so I’ll keep this in mind. I agree - the TWSBI stub is actually a great nib right out of the box! Enjoy your pen 💜
Thanks so much! Very informative, and beautiful.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
Loving these videos!
Yay, that makes me happy!
Awesome demo. What are your thoughts on the zoom nib?
tbh, I haven't tried a Sailor Zoom nib yet but would love to. My understanding is that it gives you varying line widths depending on the angle you hold it. I'd love to compare it to a Naginata style nib...
@FromCarola The Good Blue has a much more affordable version. You can buy the nib separately.
@ thanks for the tip! I’ll look into it 🙌🏽
Great demo, Carola! Do you happen to recall the first blue ink used in the Franklin Cristoph broad cursive italic?
Thanks for asking! It's Pilot Iroshizuku "kon peki" (I've now updated the description with all the inks and links to nib specialists). I think it's a great blue to test nibs/pens!
@FromCarola should've known! It's one of my favorite inks, but it looked a little more vibrant on my phone screen. That's the trouble with technology. It can slightly skew colors - I know I'm not the only one that's bought a bottle of ink based on a video, only to be disappointed (or at least surprised) by the color on person! 😅 Thanks for the reply! Kon-peki is always a winner!
@ so true! It could also depend on how long the ink has been in the pen to come out so vibrant and saturated 😅
This was my first pen show, lots of fun :D
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great lineup!✍️💕
Thanks! 🫶🏽
great collection
Great video as always! -- I'll be getting a beak nib from Matthew Chen on 12/14. Do you think you could make an in-depth video about your pen and your experiences with it?
Nice, enjoy! Which pen are you wanting to see an in-depth video about? If you mean the Beak Point, I have this video: “The Coolest Nib I Have: Beak Point” ruclips.net/video/JMfao2aiPD0/видео.html
@FromCarola Yes! I did watch that video, and have been enjoying the different grind videos you have been posting lately. I guess I was just hoping to see more of it in use. Maybe showing off the different line variations achievable on the beak side? Did the modification greatly alter the original writing experience from the regular writing side? Did he have to modify the tipping material to make it useable for regular writing? Maybe I just have too many questions, lol.
@@kvetchingdingo haha I totally get it! My reco is to sample this nib at the pen show if possible (I got to try it at the Hinze Pen Co table and they gave me a discount on a custom grind from Matthew after I purchased one of their pens!) You can choose the stock nib size to get a Beak Point so that the regular writing angle will give you a regular writing experience. I'll put this on my list of things to possibly film in-depth - thank you for the suggestion!
Love seeing your collection! It’s so fun to see how and why we all pick the ones we do
I agree, it is! Thanks for watching 🫶🏽
You have such a soothing voice and presentation. Thank you for showing us your notebooks!
Thank you for watching and for your kind comment 🫶🏽
Thank you for sharing! So many great uses, I love the idea of trying to use pencils more.
It’s an exciting project for me! 🙌🏽
Lovely video! I have two TNs but getting to the point I'll need three I think! 😂
Awesome! Do you like covers with designs or plain? I like both haha.
Ah so you're rich
😂😂😂 I’m just a stationery collector. But if you’d like to support me on my journey to getting rich (so I can buy even more stationery), I have affiliate codes you can use - and you save money too!
A full size traveler’s notebook is $55 USD. It’s not cheap for a notebook but if you have a job it’s not that expensive 😭
@@bucca2 You are very privileged if you can afford something of this standard. that much money is like food for just over a month. I really can't get it affordably.
This is so wonderful! I use a bunch of traveler’s notebooks too and it’s always interesting to see how other people are using theirs because any time I get bored with what I currently have set up, I can always move things around and try something new! Thank you for sharing how you use yours!
Aw thanks Lauren! I’m the same way - I love to see how others use theirs in case I want to move mine around. Love the TN versatility!
New subscriber. I love your collection of TNs. I have a growing collection of standard and passport sizes. I am currently in my olive green standard for personal journaling and creative writing and olive passport for tracking my hobbies and reading. I just got the camel standard and passport TNs and will be starting the new year with that set. I am definitely going to set up a little wine insert. I may add mocktail and cocktail recipes as well. Thanks for sharing!!
I just set up a hobbies TN passport size with 3 inserts. It’s been so much fun using it daily.
That’s an awesome collection! And love the mocktails/cocktails recipe insert idea! Enjoy 🙌🏽
Lovely setups! I definitely use my tns for a variety of different purposes but finding myself always leaning towards the larger standard size. So I am looking for more ideas that can fit in the smaller passport size!
I’ve used the passport size in the past and really enjoyed it, but same as you, I lean towards the standard size more. 💕
Very interesting! I use the smaller one.
The passport size is soooo cute! I’ve used it in the past and really enjoyed it too 🙌🏽
Seeeeeee this is why I love the 743. Super easy to refill and such. But totally agree about the writing experience, my 743 is still my holy grail pen. Absolutely my fav. I only have one, hoping for more slowly in the future
I would love to own more Customs and I agree that it's a grail pen!
You just blow my mind every time you paint!! A goal going into 2025 is to do this more!!
aww that's so sweet, thanks! Let's try and do it together next year!
Line up goals!! Love that you have so much room for creativity and possibilities!!!
I'm curious to see how my lineup evolves hee hee. Hope you enjoy yours as well!
Loving that RO Honey Bee! 🤩 I am loving ALL of your pens and the nib grinds 🤩 when I grow up, I want to be like you!
Honey Bee is one of my fave inks - it's such a nice burnt yellow! Hee hee, you're the one with all the bright and beautiful pens!
Lovely review! 🤓
Thanks Erick! 🤗
Really nice!
Really nice!
You can buy broader nib replacement for your Kaweco Sport. The metal sports have screw in replacement nibs. Very simple to replace.
Thanks for sharing! I may just do that!
The Pilot Custom 823 is my overall favorite fountain pen. I have them in three different nib sizes and looking to get a medium in the future but perhaps I need a signature nib.....lol. It is beautiful, thank you for sharing.
I get the attraction - what a great pen! 🙌🏽
Great hack for the pen loop! Although I love the lifter from plotter, I’m not a fan of the black leather pen holder or the fact that you can’t fit a fountain pen in it. This is an idea I will steal from you! 😂 Thanks for sharing!
Yesss! I like the lifter if you're using a standard pen but if you want to use a fountain pen or oversized pen, the XL pen loop from Leuchtturm is great!
thank u for uploading, great video, rly enjoyed it
So glad you enjoyed it! 🫶🏽
i would love to see some plan with me videos with these notebooks, but no pressure!
I’ll keep that in mind, thanks!
love that green ink
