Brooks Berry And Scrapper Blackwell - How Long
Imagine being a farmer who stopped playing and recording having being sought out to go on the university circuit decades later during the sixties . A man with a great smile and warm heart . Classic country blues .
I got the worried blues 'cause I'll never sound so good...
Yea ya can...... get that rollin tempo on lock so youre not thinking about guit THEN worry about vocals later 🫡 Done.
I have this on vinyl, its great. Its the library of congress session, it includes music performances as well and he does interviews in-between. Really interesting insight on his life.
Nice footage of Woody and his Southern Jumbo!
❤
Amazing. First time Im listening to this. Thanks for sharing

a bonafide genius.
thank you
Lomax was a democrat
And a bit of a simpleton.
So what if he was a Democrat? I swear, some people wouldn't go to the bathroom if the toilet had the wrong label.

These great musicians who have died their not gone forever they are all awaiting. Love the photo
Absolutely love it
I can't imagine how John Lomax appeared to be so naive at this interview. He was a Texas Southerner who saw first hand how destructive racism was, and McTell lived in the south. I believe Lomax was focused upon wanting to show the evils of racism, but didn't connect with any possiblity for retribution by speaking out publicly which would have been highly likely at the time.
Thanks.
Man this is incredible!
Nice walk into the past.
Loved ❤❤
Lovely
Priceless! Southern Can Is Mine. McTell could play like nobody else. Had a real, joyous musical gift. Lomax pushes him to say bitter things he doesn't want to say, but Willie keeps showing he's too smart to be cornered or quantified.
This is freaking awesome. Lomax's serious pushing for Blind Willie to sing and play a "complainin' song" started to make me feel a little uncomfortable, though.
my favorite mctell recording

This is great. Does anybody know what year?
Hi Andrew, There is more info in the description. Recording date is October 15, 1936.
@@WeenieCampbell Thank you This is really great stuff. Would the original recording be on wire - or possibly wax? Certainly, your copy has survived the years really well. And thank you again for posting. A.
@@andrewelliott4436 Wax. We just transcribed the lyrics. Great stuff indeed.
In very loving memory of Mr. J.W. Warren (1920 - 2003 R.I.P. Gone but NOT forgotten).
Certainly not forgotten. Thanks for your comment.
