(as therapy) is my attempt to bring complex subjects surrounding mental health and psychology to people who need them the most. Since I believe that anchoring new ideas in the familiar is the best way to learn, most videos will likely be centered on explaining and elucidating on these subjects as they're portrayed in popular media.

Mr. Robot As Therapy: Disconnection, Integration, and the Multiplicity of Self
A deep dive into the psychology and profound therapeutic concepts found within Mr. Robot; a meticulously crafted love-letter to my all-time favorite TV series; a look at the Self through the lens of Buddhism, Family Systems theory, and (ab)normal psych.

Amazing video, thanks so much for the love and care you put into it :)

This is hands down, one of the best RUclips videos I've watched in my life.
I have Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and I must say that Mr. Robot offers the most accurate portrayal of DID I've seen in Hollywood so far. It’s refreshing to see a media representation that handles the disorder with such care. DID is often misunderstood and rarely visible to those around us. In fact, most people with DID don’t show noticeable signs, and even close friends or family might not be aware when 'switching' between alters occurs. It takes trauma-informed therapists, who are specially trained, to truly identify and treat DID effectively. I'm grateful to the writers, actors, and creators of this show for their thoughtful work, which contributes to destigmatizing mental health conditions like DID. It’s important to approach this with nuance rather than the exaggerated portrayals often seen online. Let’s continue to support media that helps bring awareness and understanding to conditions that are so often hidden.
S Tier video
As a pursuing psychology student, i quite fond of Mr. Robot to be relatable and fascinating that shows how much complexity that brought Sam Esmail and Rami Malek to the character. I love every single aspect of it, it's my personal therapeutic section that brought me alive and keep me sane in terms of facing adversity. Elliot is by far one of the best character stories ive ever seen.
M83 is amazing and even better as this show's soundtrack
You need to make more. I relate so heavily to Elliot despite not having DID but many symptoms similar to it
Who needs therapy when I have you and this video I can watch repeatedly
Thank you for this & for having the ability to download it. I've watched many a series twice. This one kills me every time. As someone with a SMI I found this to be powerful & therapeutic commentary. I'm not on substack/haven't explored it, but I hope you continue to make content here. No matter how infrequent.
Please make more videos
My god. Thank you so much for this.
This may be one of, if not the best video essay i've seen on this platform. I am stunned by the power of your words, and their ability to bring out what I have been sitting on and ignoring for some time now. Thank you. Thank you.
Small spoilers my ass, otherwise great video
Hi everyone. Lots of people asking for more content since I made this and then disappeared off the web for 4 years. Good news! I'm writing again, and you can follow my writing on my Substack, linked below. I hope to eventually make more videos in the future, but that depends on a lot of things (time, money, etc.). considerthisblog.substack.com/
This is so awesome to hear @considerthis8769 This video is one I come back to many times a year and it brings me to tears every time! As someone who is a CSA survivor, a IFS therapy patient and a huge fan of Mr Robot I say thank you for this beautiful and impactful work. Excited to see more from you. Be well friend.
finding this 4 years after the release and realising that there is no continuation for your work was a real hit. This is a masterpiece and a very thorugh breakdown of the core idea presentet in mr. robot
God, dude, you made me cry. I love this show and this video so much. Thank you so much for making it. It's super well edited and all your points are well-presented. I have a Psychology test in a few days, and seeing Freud in action is always a fun time.
It's been 4 years! Make another video please.
This is amazing. But, why you created only 1 video in 4 years? I would like know more from you.
Just finished a #FiveNine inspired rewatch of this masterpiece of a show, and was searching out further Mr. Robot content here when the algorithm gave me your video. Moved to tears and found your very Human and empathic take on how such a dark show can be so healing deeply cathartic. Thank you so much, I wish I could subscribe to you 100 times.💝
Im no different that most in the comments. It changed me. It sounds hyperbolic. But, it was the first time i ever saw myself on tv. A character i actually understood and see. And now they did the subject matter. Perfection. And of course the acting, directing, cinematography, score, casting, and production. Perfect in my opinion. The holy grail. If someone hasnt watched it. Do it. Every season is spectacular. But each season only gets better. And the end is perfect.
All i want to say from this video is thank you...i was starting to lose hope.
I cannot describe how i'm gratefull for this video. Please dont stop writting about it! ❤
Incredible video. One of the best on YT
Sounds like hypno-therapy. Of course we are individuals. What’s strange is you not getting what that means. No longer able to be divided - that refers to time and space. Only one buddy. Meaning we exist as individuals in an ecosystem and biosphere no doubt - but as individual brains and bodies. Strange to think anyone would think it’s up for debate.
I can tell you've poured your heart and soul into this. Beautiful work, I hope you make more when the time is right!
Thank you matey
Thank you so much for making this video and explaining these things in such details! This show was really something to take a moment and think about - just like our emotions
This was amazing. Please consider making more videos like this
Beautiful that it’s just one channel with one video that actually means something in this whirlpool of time wasting YT content.
Watching this series send me into my first psychotic episode. A tear came down my face watching this. 😢
Its taken me a year to completely finish Mr Robot because i finish each season needing a break just because of how amazing it is 😭 has me questioning so much about myself and others
Please add subtitles
This video is an absolute masterpiece
great video
I think that it's necessary for us to go through trama and anger and destruction in order to understand healing and also not healing, the world is a balance of both dark and light anger and happyness good and evil and so on we the sons and daughters of balance
You're speaking too slowly and trying to sound too profound with infections.
I totally understand what your saying, and exactly the part where you said "this can work for all of us". I had shallow knowledge about the psychological topics you mentions and that's exactly how I helped myself to make amends and not totally go insane. And that's why this show will always be my favorite, because I see myself at least on some fractional level. As a personal struggle, understanding and eventually healing. I can't thank you enough for making this video.
amazing video. i hope you keep on keeping on.
Recently i found this video on some post in the subreddit of Mr.Robot, not only it was well produced and explain very well the psychological part of Mr.Robot, but also make me shed a tear towards the end, really appreciate this video and very important and the fact that you use the official music of the show, and i'm happy to find other people that are so connected in really unique form to this show!
This is one of the best video essays I’ve watched about a show I love great work
Is this not a spoiler for the whole series? Haha
God knows if you see this three years later but, what a fine video.
Mr robot is the first media ive watched where it feels like it gets me. I may not be elliot but i face his struggles. The addiction, anger, depression, the trauma. Its the show that i feel that truly understands that. The only thing that is comparable is the road by cormac Mccarthy. But even then its uncomparable
This is a masterpiece
great choice of song at the end
This is probably one of the most beautiful things I've ever had the honor of participating in. So fluid, easily digestible, interpretable.
Truly amazing
This video is sooo well done, thank you!
