I'll Be There For You(Friends theme song)
Nothing before the '90s, really?
This sucks. I wanted the performances, not little, unsatisfying snippets.
name of the first man?
Where tf is Sutton foster
Alternate title for this one is “My fave broadway musical’s tony award performances.” A lot of really great performances have not been included in the list lol 👎
3:37 cue the tears and the chills, and the cheers and the tills. 😭
Jennifer Holiday should have been NO 1 with "And I am Tellin You I'm Not Goin."
No Jennifer? These were some good performances but, in my opinion, not all the best. I love Wicked but that was not Ms. Menzel's best performance of that song.
Gee what an education. Who knew that the Broadway musical started in 1996? As someone who has seen the televised Tonys since the flood, these are hardly the best, especially that crap If/Then,... one of the worst shows I have seen in almost 50 years of seeing Broadway shows. One modern performance you missed was Fantasia singing I'm Here. Other performances you might check out are the 1984 Tonys, the best year in Tony history. Patti LuPone in Evita [much as I hated the show], Jennifer Holliday in Dreamgirls,, the 1976 Tonys with A Chorus Line, and so many others. Angela Lansbury's show stopping Everything's Coming Up Roses.
best 8Tony Awards show Performances
This video should be titled Most Popular Musical Theatre Shows. some of these performances are not even that good...
What about Jennifer Holiday in Dreamgirls or Patti LuPone in Evita?? Those should be 1 and 2.
This list is the poster's OPINION!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's PURELY SUBJECTIVE!!! Obviously, the poster does NOT deem Jennifer Holliday's and Patti LuPone's performances worthy of being listed here. Simple as that!!!
I was waiting for Turkey Lurkey
Newsies.. best ever!!!!!
"Best" is so subjective. Had the uploader said "favorite" I might not be wanting to say "no" so loudly at some of these performances. 😃
TURKEY LURKEY TIME
This list has no Michael Jeter in Grand Hotel. Therefore, this list is bullshit. Go back before 19 fucking 96, why don't you.
memo a moi meme: sampler a 1:14
So The Tony's started with this generation? Anything before you all? Merman? Martin? Liza? Come on...
What about anything goes????🥺
You hear Lea Salonga’s musical and suddenly everything else pales in comparison.
The dude that played Dustin was in there
What about :The Phantom of the Opera”?????
Jennifer holiday is no one for Dreamgirls
Does anybody else not understand the hype of Hamilton?
I thought I was the only one
Idina sounds awful here. And that flat at 7:32 yikes
Figure Skating Mashup She had an asthma attack backstage that night and the band was not keeping up with her and were going to fast. After all this song is not easy to sing..especially after being belted 8 shows a week!
I read somewhere that she was sick.
You forgot Evita.
Jennifer Holliday's performance for Dreamgirls was the absolute best tony performance ever.
In YOUR OPINION!!! NOT in the opinion of the person who composed this list!!!
A gentleman’s guide to love and murder?????
IF THEN???? REALLY???? THIS IS CRAZY, IT WAS AN AVERAGE PERFORMANCE FROM A BAD MUSICAL. COME ON!
Dancing through life is my personal fav 💚
This list is missing a lot of less modern musicals.
Ya think?
This list is missing a lot of less modern musicals.
This list missed major preformances…
omg KEALA SEATTLE!!!
Sorry, but original Les Miz on Tonys was better. Lets have a glass together from Grand Hotel is my fav. Also enjoy when they bring back classic songs from previous winners
I love Idina, but her breaths are so loud and wheezing. That was the first thing about singing I got hammered into my head, so I can’t help but notice it. Yes, it’s a hard song that requires a ton of breath, but this one was just so noticeable, it really took me out of it.
Agree, doesn't she have asthma.
@@jreyas6263 Yeah, I believe earlier that day she'd had an asthma attack?
Which song
The music was honestly going too quickly
I remember reading a comment saying that Idina was incredibly sick that day (a cold or smt like that). So yeah, double effort.
Seems super biased
No Evita????
Baby Anthony and his hair lol
My top are 1.defying gravity and popular
I agree with this list especially number 1 but what about "One song Glory?" That was the song that brought me to Rent
Betty Buckley singing Memory from Cats should have been number ONE!
No no no has to be Elaine Paige
I love all of those. They are my favourite songs too!
Dream girls. The color purple?
Dionte Brown The Color Purple is so fucking phenomenal it’s crazy!!!!!!
Not the 2015 revival tho
Andrew Rannells is awesome.
Idina’s breath support i think could’ve been better in the defying gravity performance. She was gasping for breath every time she took a break (quite audibly) when in reality when breathing into the diaphragm it isn’t audible.
She has asthma and it was flaring that night.
It’s also the way she acts the character, at this point Elphaba is scared and so she would be taking those big gasping breath although I agree it was more noticeable here
Samantha H. The band was going to fast
She had had an asthma attack backstage that night
The band is going to fast
Where’s Hair (1969), Dreamgirls (1982), The Lion King (1998)?
Girl, you want Jennifer Holiday to scream at you without naming her on this list? Dreamgirls still number one.
Rajasa Pramesywara I love dreamgirls as much as wicked but it hasn’t been on the tony awards
Just remembered it had lmao
Ellie Galler oh yes it has! Jennifer Holiday and company did the tonys when the show came out. And JH won the tony that night. If you search for it on RUclips you’ll see it. And she so deserved that Tony.
It was, until Michael Jeter did his thing in 1990 for Grand Hotel. That's the champ. Jennifer is/was amazing, but she pitched it to the back of the house instead of the TV audience, so it came out looking like "And I Am Telling You I'm Going To Eat Your Children."
Omg Broadway production of Pippin the singer is the worst
I give major respect to Idina. She was in a few musicals on this list, including number one. She was a rockstar in Wicked. That song is not easy, and she killed it.
