    Does the scoring cards stay in your hand for the second round after you use them? Or do they get discarded?

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 9 месяцев назад

      They stay in your hand until you score them, but you can not play two identical cards during the same phase. So if you got something in the first age, and didn’t score it, you could aim to score it the second Age.

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 2 года назад

      The rules do say you can play with up to 5 people I believe. The only thing is that even with less chips, there would still be a longer game with more people since that’s one more voice to negotiate with. My 4 player games have taken around 25-35 minutes. Depends on how crazy people get.

    Thanks! As you said in some comment I have one more reason to buy Malarky! My favorite game with chips is Tic Tac Toe with stacking chips. Rules are easy: There are two players (difrent colors) and every player has two chips with number 1, two with number 2 and two with number 3. You can place your chip wherever (board is normal, 3x3) but there is a hook - you can place your chip on enemy's chip with less number (3 on enemy's 2 and 1, 2 on enemy's 1). That are cool rules, because you chave to manage your chips correctly (nothing is worse than desperate trying to bloch line of three with 1, when enemy has 2 :p) it makes game much more tactical. It's amazing how many games you can create with simple colorful chips, or changing rules of Tic Tac Toe (wich ironically was first computer game) :D

      They still have a turn. Actions dealing with Prisoners are free and can be done on anyone’s turn. Example, it might be someone else’s turn and I offer to give them a prisoner if they give me the next play. Then pretend they refused, then I kill their prisoner as retaliation.

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 4 года назад

      No worries, you’ve got good English. A player CAN capture with a chip that isn’t their color, like in your example. The only point to consider is that if Green makes a capture using Yellow’s chips, Green will kill and capture whatever chips they choose in that pile BUT it will then become Yellows turn as the player whose Color was used to capture a pile makes the next move.

    Can you ask to trade prisoners then kill the prisoner you have but get your chip?

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 4 года назад

      The rules don’t specifically state the timing of trades but I’d say no. That would be a trade that would need to occur simultaneously. If you said, “Give me a prisoner and then on your turn, I’ll give you a prisoner.” Then that would be something you can back down from. But I think you should specify your own trading rules at the start of a game. For instance, I might say that “from the start of a person’s turn until the end of that persons turn, all trades are binding but once that person’s turn is done, any promises of what will happen later do not need to be honored.” I usually play by stating any simultaneous trades must be carried out but if you give someone a prisoner in exchange for an action, then that action doesn’t need to be honored. Try it both ways! The game is pretty short at only about 20 minutes.

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 4 года назад

      Yes, totally. Taking prisoners is one of the best parts of the game. Obviously, Orange could tell Yellow to screw off and make a deal with someone else due to the threat. Also, any deals that are not immediate, are non-binding so Yellow could say they won’t kill Orange (or give it back) and then not follow through. Or Orange could demand Yellow give the prisoner back first, then they’ll give them the play back but then maybe Yellow double crosses Orange! It’s all so diabolical.

    6:50 so if yellow picks orange to go, can't orange make another pile?

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 4 года назад

      No, Yellow can’t pick Orange because Orange was in the pile that Yellow played on. The only way someone can play more than once in a pile is if all other colors are represented and they are the lowest color most recently played. Then it’s a “default” and that color HAS to play, (barring them being eliminated) but that color can play on any stack or start a new stack of they like.

    Soo what happens if there’s two players left with the same amount of only their colored chip, it doesn’t make sense to put a chip down and let the other player put two over yours so they could only either alternate stacking on one pile or choose to make new stacks. Just wondering how it’s supposed to end in this scenario.

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 4 года назад

      You should hope to have some prisoners by the time it gets to be just two people remaining. That’s the best way to ensure victory aside from just having more chips. If you are in the situation that you mentioned, each player with an equal number of chips, the first player to play would always lose. Stacks would look like this ABABAB so nobody would kill a stack and when it’s A’s turn, they wouldn’t have a chip to play so they lose. Or A and B play on alternate stacks and keep passing back to each other but everytime a stack is captured a chip is killed so again, the first to play would lose.

    thanks for this video but i have some questions about how to play when there are only 2 people left and also how it is possible that a player can win without having and chips or all of his chis are dead

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 4 года назад

      When 2 people remain, nothing changes in the rules. It is unlikely that you both only have exactly the same amount of chips but let’s say player A and B both had 2 chips each and there are no stacks. Player A places on stack 1, passes to Player B, B places on stack 1, passes to A, A places on stack 1, passes to B, B places on stack 1, passes to A, A has no chips, A is eliminated, B wins. You aren’t eliminated when you have no chips left, you’re eliminated when it’s your turn and you have no chips to place. People can offer you prisoners to keep you in the game, possibly to add you as an ally to eliminate another player with a chip placement.

  • @snipperjoey1151
    @snipperjoey1151 4 года назад

    Two questions: 1. Can players exchange chips and kill captures whenever they so wish? Without restriction and without it being their turn? 2. If a player is eliminated from the game, who goes next?

    • @dexdouglas
      @dexdouglas 4 года назад

      1. Actions taken outside of the move sequence: Any prisoner in a player's possession may be killed or transferred to another player at any time. Such transfers are unconditional and cannot be retracted. A player may not transfer or kill chips of his own color. Players must keep their chips in view at all times. Players can confer freely, but only at the table and during the game-no secret or prior agreements are allowed. Coalitions, or agreements to cooperate, are permitted, and may take any form. There is no penalty for failure to live up to an agreement. 2. If a player is eliminated, the move returns to the player who gave the defeated player the move. If doing so defeats that player in turn, whoever gave that player the move will get the next turn, etc. This was taken from BGG user Brianmccue’s Rules document posted here: boardgamegeek.com/filepage/151858/two-page-rules-so-long-sucker
