This isn’t plankton when he gets the formula y’all. This is plankton when he finally comes to peace with himself and gives up on his obsession with the formula. He lets go of his grudge against Krabs, closes the chum bucket, and leaves bikini bottom forever to start a new life with Karen. Somewhere where he won’t be immediately cast as the villain, where he’ll have the chance to be a respectable citizen. After a life well lived, he sings this as he reflects on all his regrets from his younger years, but finally concludes that it was worth it, because he did it his way.
