Updated commentary re:Are Vtuber news channels scum? [Additional context]
I'm seeing a lot of misunderstanding my viewpoint on my latest commentary video about drama and news channels, so hopefully this clears it up for some. I think reporting on actual news is important and very necessary, especially when corporations do extensive damage to their talents and the community. It's the shift into petty indie Twitter spats that I heavily disagree with.

Why the Coverage of NIJISANJI EN Ruined VTubing for Everyone
Просмотров 11 тыс.Месяц назад
Drama coverage isn't a new phenomenon, but it's definitely a rising problem in the Vtuber sphere! Ever since Dokibird/Selen Tatsuki's termination from NIJISANJI, it seems as if the most vile of the indie and corpo side has been publicized and monetized here on RUclips, all because of the rapid success seen on the coverage of the story as it was breaking. Am I crazy, or is the Vtubing sphere not...

How to Start Long Form YouTube Content as a VTuber || WORKSHOP ||

Most VTubers think they have to stick to gaming content or VTuber-related niches for RUclips videos....I'm here to tell you that is NOT THE CASE!!! As a high functioning autistic and socially anxious beginner vtuber i definitely struggle a lot with self confidence and making friends, and even knowing what makes someone a friend (it's weird but true) even though that was my main goal when starting since i have no irl friends. This was a really cool video though Lycoris. 🧡

I am just going to be honest, and not to emotional damage you, but i think your model is scary and ugly, if i could choose between gawr gura and you id choose gawr gura within a heartbeat. Most people want to see pretty models, if you want viewers you cannot simply stream what you want to stream, you have to find a balance between what you want and what the audience wants, i also disagree with your networking advice, its not true that only vtubers use twitter, and also with your rigging advice, yeah you can go cheap, you can go only do the top, or even go with free models or png models, but if you want to stand out in terms of quality, there is a price to pay, and it can go up from 1000 to 40 000 $ if you want a really high quality model, i feel you should be more honest about it.

I’m gonna give you the hard truth, the indie community shot yourselves in the foot. You forgot the passerbys are greater in number than existing fans. Passerbys who are not interested in dramas and just want to watch content now completely see indiesphere as nothing but an uncreative toxic circle that does anything for clicks. I am one of those ppl. I used to be fairly interested in indies, now I avoided them like plague. I can’t stand a group of ppl that had to put others down to be seen, spreading potentially fake news for clout, creating an entire community of toxics. Corpo vtubers also are becoming more selective and less open to collab with yall either. So there you have it, the finding out phase is here. Fun times is over. Other than kids and dramamongers, normal people don’t wanna be around you anymore.

I will say, I still watch Rev say Desu for years, I like the dude, especially since he gives pretty blunt reasoning of how reality is. Of course I get that a lot of negativity have been going this year but honestly, this year was pretty much mixed in reviews. Is more of the factor of how you want interact with the reality you live in as a VTuber (which I am) or viewer and I chose to just stay in my community and maybe branch out on Twitter if I felt like it at the time. As for those Twitter spats, I honestly just make fun of them because is basically throwing hands in public spaces, why you bring this stuff in public but for drama, you're asking for it, righteous or otherwise.

I find your take on Zaion's termination notice to be odd. You call it "a laundry list of every punishable thing the talent did to be terminated", without using the word "allegedly", but then you use that word to describe the defamatory nature of the notice (so Zaion's infringements were not alleged, but her being defamed was, in your presentation of the events). You proceed to call it "Niji's level of transparency" when talking about Riro Ron, but in *her* case this suddenly becomes "complete humiliation" for the terminated talent and "the things she was accused of with no proof shown to the viewer was borderline defamatory". And here is my problem with this: it was never about transparency to begin with. When Niji terminated Zaion, they compiled a list of things that they deliberately took out of context, overblew beyond all proportions, or just straight up fabricated in some instances (Zaion's laundry list has been thoroughly analysed in detail after she dropped her own document). Niji also provided no proof for their claims. They coupled this termination notice with three black screen videos by Zaion's genmates that were pure mud slinging against Zaion's character and person. It was *exactly* the same playbook they later used on Selen. In short, what Niji set a precedent in is character assassination against a terminated talent, *not* transparency. Issue a laundry list of petty, overblown, taken out of context, or just straight up fabricated violations of company rules, offer no proof, and yes, defame the talent. And idol followed *that* precedent *to the letter* when they terminated Riro Ron. This was never about transparency, weaponised or otherwise, and I am somewhat baffled why you would present it as such. I will grant you that *at the time* when Zaion was terminated, a lot of people *were* calling what Niji did "transparency", but that was because back then the company still had a largely intact reputation and Zaion was a newcomer with a small fanbase, many people were willing to take Niji at their word. But that was ages ago. You did not make this video in March of 2023, you made it in October of 2024, with the full benefit of hindsight. Framing Zaion's termination notice as "transparency" is nonsensical. As for the topic as a whole, in my opinion coverage of negative aspects of vtubing is useful and should absolutely continue. It provides a valuable public service to all current and future talents, so they can be more cautious when signing contracts, and it also provides a service to fans as well, by informing them which companies and indies are bad actors (and thus giving the fans the option to decide not to support financially said companies and indies). Sweeping bad stuff under the rug and only repeating the positive aspects can be just as toxic and harmful as the opposite. That said, drama and news channels definitely go way too far in fishing for any potential conflict, overblowing mild Twitter disputes and turning nothingburgers into frontpage news. But for me personally the solution is simple, scroll past such tweets and do not watch those videos. At the end of the day, every person is responsible for curating their own internet experience. You can not control what other people produce and publish, but you can control what you consume.

"Coverage of stupid shit" is important to keep our own community in check. I'm lost as to how you DON'T see these things like the shylily copy situation to cover. Yes, major corpo situations are important, but it comes across like you only want the positive of smaller vtubers to be highlighted. Also, there has been a recent shift in that basically all of the major "news" vtubers have started to include more positive content and aid in celebrating smaller vtubers. Not only not acknowledging that, but you seem to insinuate the opposite which...idk I can only think it's Algo recommending things it thinks you want. If a small Vtuber is to be taken seriously, they should be held accountable for major mistakes, and you are downplaying that. You refer to bias, but this very video shows very high bias with you claiming only YOU show sources, which is actually the norm among the major "news" vtubers Why is Twitter wrong for pointing out his hypocrisy though? You make it sound wrong, but it really isn't. He is called a hypocrite...because he displayed hypocritical behavior. If someone lies, they are a liar. That's really simple. It's not even a debate in IF he is being a hypocrite, it's literally all there on display. If you read this till the end, I appreciate it, it's not easy to try to understand those who disagree with you.

im not quite sure how you came to some of those conclusions about my stance? and im really not sure where you're getting the "only i show sources" thing from haha. i dont pose as a news channel, all of my content exclusively comes from my opinions and biases and i always welcome discussion i also do acknowledge the positive reporting they do in my older video im reacting to here. i dont mention a recent shift into more positive reporting simply because i havent seen it in the channels ive been following, at least not to a dramatic degree that outweighs any of the negative coverage they post. if youve noticed it, thats great! but i dont think that overthrows my main thesis at all. i also dont appreciate you assuming that i choose not to mention things out of malice or with intentions of downplaying certain aspects, when in reality its incredibly hard to mention every and all points of view when im only one person in a live setting with no one to riff off of. were it a conversation or at least with chat interactions, i would have readily talked about the concerns you have. the same goes with scripted videos, as i do try to be thorough and consult with people behind the scenes, but its seems like theres always something missing that commentors immediately fault me on for not covering. im not omniscient and again, im not saying there should be NO criticism when vtubers (indies or corpos) make mistakes or do illegal things, but milking it for views is surely not doing the situation any good. and a lot of these twitter spats dont need to leave the platform at all. for example, katliente has posted a few videos covering the well-known issue of gfx scam bots, but she presents it like its a legit artist and not an obvious bot scam thats been in the space for years now. reporting on it is quite literally pointless and thats the type of thing im referring to sorry but im really not sure what youre referring to in the last paragraph. i dont know who the "he" is youre bringing up, nor when i ever defended someone from the accusations you mentioned? regardless, thanks for your comment and i hope this clears it up a bit

@@lycorisbanashi I apologize if I misunderstood, overall both current you and in the past held a calm demeanor with valid points(which is why I like listening to you for advice and recently be trying to catch your uploads) but there are times where the tone dips very harshly so it came across as very dismissive. In regards to the sources issue, it seemed like you were insinuating that the major "news" vtubers don't use sources when talking about issues/situations while you do, if that was incorrect then sorry about that. I understand it is a live setting, and you didn't interact with chat here as well as not having anyone to bounce off as, as well as the pressure of commenters who seem to point at any perceived flaw in the video. I'm not judging you, and I don't think you were doing any of this with malice. My original comment was blunt, but I essentially fell into the same issue you did in the video, so that's completely my fault lol. Parts of the video came across very harsh and seemingly dismissive, but perhaps it was rather disappointment with how things should be better or could be better rather than actual dismissal. I agree wholeheartedly with various content creators who have jumped the Vtuber drama train only for views, with no care for getting the facts right! Katliente was actually someone I had started to like and enjoy, since she seemed level headed but also with a side of sarcasm( My kind of humor lol) but after a Rev Says Desu video came out showing how reckless she is, I was appalled, and when others confirmed her record of getting things wrong as well as showing how she only started Vtuber drama for views was what made me ignore all of her content entirely and explain to my non Vtuber friends to not support her content(not boycott, just my friends like to dip their toes in vtuber stuff sometimes and don't keep up with who is/isn't trustworthy when it comes to hearing informed opinions on topics and/or information on vtubers) The he I was referring to was when you were talking about the Vtuber who talked how parasocial content is dangerous, only to continue with boyfriend style content for views long after the fact, which is why people were and still continue to point him out as a hypocrite (sorry the name eludes me rn, I can try to find a timestamp later). This portion came across as very dismissive because it came across as though you thought people pointing this out was unnecessary and potentially only negative, but again I very much may have misunderstood you on this. Thank you for reading my comment and giving it a fair and honest response, I appreciate it and I think you try to be far more conscious of what kind of content you put out than many out there who will ONLY give the bad side of things without any respect to the full picture. I respect you a lot for that, and I'm still going to keep watching your content lol, it simply felt like there was a lot I had to say about this video, so don't take this as hate but also don't take it with a grain of salt since there might be others who misunderstood like I did. I'll leave my original comment up, but the way you handled my comment made me switch my first dislike on your content into another like! You honestly are a role model to other content creators, even if it feels like people are always pointing out flaws, or even if some content doesn't do as well as others, please don't ever be discouraged because there are still people who enjoy watching you very much and see the goodness you put out. Gotta head out rn, but if there is anything I missed or can elaborate on then I'll throw my tent back up in your comment section(as long as you'll have me lol), anyway have a good one!

I appreciate this video and your thoughts on the topic, Lycoris. I was a big Niji fan for the first 2 years that Niji EN started but I lost heart when I saw how Yugo's "graduation" was handled. Trust was already lost then and it just got worse with them mistreating more and more talents and issues coming to light. But I have to agree that the heavy focus on drama in the aftermath has really lessened my taste for a lot of vtuber content because the only reason it feels like everything is on fire every week is because of people actively partaking in the spread of it. It doesn't help that twitter is built on engagement baiting so of course folks will jump at that chance. I have hope that things will change down the road, but it will probably take the algorithms changing how engagement works currently to get the masses to also change. People just follow what works, after all.

Well i worked for a few channels like that and let me tell you that drama is almost a guarantee for success. Just got a new client yesterday with 5 channels in the celeb drama nieche. All of that channels create the same videos just with slightly changed scripts and editing. The channels are just 30 days old, used the diddy drama for fast growth and all got monetized after 2-3 weeks. I think it's the same with vtuber drama channels and the only reason why they do it is just simply because videos like that generate a fair amount of money.

What ruined vtubing for me is Nijisanji itself, I still love a lot of their talents, but whenever I watch my favs there, there's a looming dark shadow of Nijisanji at the back of my mind... Of the bad things they did that lead to fatal incidents to their own liver... (Probably other companies too for sure, this popped the bubble of the vtubing world as a comfort world... That mostly everyone are having fun and satisfied with their companies and or that the vtubers we know and love can actually be different to the ones we knew and love) i still continue to support my favorite livers despite everything because I love them, but that doesn't change the fact that Nijisanji is a very bad company... For Drama channels/Commentary channels, despite them farming way too much of the controversy, more than being annoying or ruining the vtubing Community, for me, they are more a huge help on telling what is going on with the companies and livers I love, I can't really watch and see all their social medias all the time because I have life outside of being their fan, so the commentary channels helps me to see a general idea of what is happening~ good or bad~ and i think, it's better to have them to have a bumper to the companies, that if they do something really bad again, the commentary channels will be there to spread and farm on it, they will be much careful now and considerate (hopefully) towards their decisions and livers, else, they will be like Nijisanji ~ I have a lot more points but I should stop now hahaha or it may be an essay comment~ TuT

You did a cery well video essay. It sure makes me think about it. Here are some question I have about this topic tho. I understand how using negativity to gain views isn't a nicest way to making content, but how will you pointing out things that are wrong in a community without being negative. For example, I am sure you know this video on your channel are not a positive video at all, but it doesn't mean that it's bad content. Quite the contrary, it very informative and interesting. Next, your video pointed out a lot of problem, but I can't tell if you have some opinion on the solution for the problems you pointed out. I would like you to tell more ideas how would you like to solve it. It doesn't have to be realistic but some ideas always more useful then none. Also from your point of view, how can I, a person who enjoy Vtuber know more about both the good and bad of a community I'm a part of without putting myself in a echo chamber of constant negativity and constant posivity. Both are bad in my opinion. I myself think that we as a community should watch everything with a brain and not put 100% our faith in anything. We can't only see the positive things this community bring and refuse any critic as well as dwelling in negativity and hate on both corpo and dramatuber. really interest in your opinion. If you can make a video out of it. that even cooler!

It is true that the constant reporting on drama on vtubing has taken its toll (although I'd say we are definitely slowing down in the latter part of 2024 here). But there are things that absolutely should be reported. The whole fire that was Selen/Doki v Niji, I'm sure nobody disagrees had to be reported. Now, did it get reported well passed its *shelf life*, I'd agree to that. Doki herself was ready to move on from all of it within the month. Keeping a vigilant eye on these corpos, putting them on blast when they pull some tomfoolery, stops them from completely taking advantage of new and upcoming vtubers. Or at the very least, makes it harder for them to do so. The same applies to indies also. If some indie vtuber is really doing something shady or scummy, well I'd want to know so I don't show them any support by accident. Now, do we need a report on every little negative thing, corpo or indie. Probably not. I'm always happy when I see someone reporting positive stuff as well. Like when vtubers make it to the top streaming spots. Or if a vtuber has set a new world record. Or hit a new milestone of some sort. There is definitely a balance that should be observed, where we get reports on the positive alongside the negative. Rather than fixating entirely on the negative.

I wish to speak more But I doesn't want to

Tend to not watch drama content or even vids like this. I don’t watch drama because I don’t need more reasons to feel disheartened, and avoid vids like these because they can be hypocritical as drama videos about drama videos being bad. I don’t think this is a reflection of vtubing as a whole. It’s honestly just following content cycle even flesh content creators followed this route with direct parallels. Everyone doing it for fun, then becomes a job. Is literally the back story of RUclips. Vtuber agencies - RUclipsr Agencies Many RUclipsrs lost rights to identify by their government name, because of aggressive contracts. The only reason to sign with an agency is if they are going to bring stability to your career, otherwise you’re better off doing it yourself. Also never sign over total control of your IP. That doesn’t mean their arent better ones to be apart of like Smosh, good mythical morning, educational side of RUclips, ect. Simple content does well: The easier the topic is to understand the more potential audience it has. Most people don’t know about vtubing, but everyone knows drama. Drag race drama channels are huge, with a large portion of the audience claiming they don’t watch drag race. People have been saying the channels will end drag for the past 15years but it’s only growing. The positive impact of drama: Drama is how people hear about things often times. This kind of publicity follows a net positive for niche community awareness as it does build up brand awareness as lots of people are still completely unaware of what vtubing is. Sadly, It also grows toxicit with crab bucket and pick me behavior. - I could go on but this is starting to be enough to be a video in itself lmao

A lot of what niji did and does is not even “drama” and i hate that it’s labeled as such by people cause a lot of what niji did were legit crimes from zion/sayu’s weird nda that they barely gave her any time to go over before signing to the whole doki situation and how niji shared her medical info and other private things with other talents which lead to the black screen vid and even the michi’s tax thing that is wildly criminal to be taking money out of her paycheck to pay the company’s taxes and not having that go towards her taxes, covering that is not drama, it’s just exposing crimes to the people. Now if all they cover is petty beef between vtubers that has no real reason to be reported on then fine those are dramatubers but people that actually share news and legit stories can’t be described as “dramatubers” if what they say has facts behind it.

Hi Lycoris~ While I'm a subscriber who doesn't usually comment, I would like to respectfully disagree with some of the points in this video. I am approaching this as someone who appreciates and even enjoys the current state of the industry. So here’s an essay! -Premise- I do not believe that coverage of Nijisanji EN ruined VTubing. In my opinion it is still an emerging industry; that it's an unexplored frontier like the wild west. We are watching the creation of a modern mythos, with heroes and villains that can already be considered legends. As a viewer, this year in particular has been an exciting time as we watch history unfold. Distressing, yes, but exciting. The catastrophic failure of AnyColor's handling of NijiEN needed to be talked about and should not be forgotten, because this has happened before and worse is just asking to happen in the future. Shakeups and ripples through the industry will keep on happening until it's dead, so in the meantime the best thing we can do is look to the past to be ready for the future. -Dramatubers- When there's demand, people will find supply. After a great trend-setting event there will inevitably be trend-chasing, and I definitely get being grossed-out by shallow, numbers-driven clout goblins (my words). In the video the idea of a Gold Mine is used, so let’s go with that: a gold rush is exciting and all but it ends eventually and not everyone strikes it rich. If they flood to other cities to vent their frustrations; it’s not the first miner’s fault for finding gold, it’s on the cities to have better law enforcement. And if the law’s not enough, people either have to persuade the lawmakers or take matters into their own hands. As for the miners who didn’t strike it rich, maybe the problem was that they were looking for gold. There are things to find other than gold, and things to sell besides gold. Sure it sucks to get there late or not find a vein, but few people get rich doing what everyone else is doing. In fact, most of the profit off a gold rush come from the merchants selling supplies. With an emerging industry there are few laws and practices that can account for its developments; if anything goes wrong & the established systems are slow or don't work, the best thing anyone CAN do is talk about it. If anyone does the same bad thing, call them out on it. Give aid to or mourn the victims. Shame the villains. Celebrate the heroes. Make the titans fall. Like it or not, it is a human instinct to dwell on the negatives and in our nature to love a good story. As for the issue of normies reporting on VTuber issues, I think the issue is ignorance and not negativity. It sucks to see people walking away with bad impressions of something you love, and I think that was inevitable if 1) They already have a prejudice against anime & 2) All that came to their attention was a business-shattering scandal. Negativity’s always going to exist and there are situations where it’s a good thing (positivity is not always good). I figure this is an industry-wide problem that will settle with time and effort, by getting results and making VTubing normal. -The Big Three- I believe that FalseEyeD, Rev say desu, and Khyomaru are doing necessary work. My opinion is that their video coverage can serve as time capsules; resources that can be referenced by people in the future. Mainstream journalism is late to the party and apparently cannot be trusted; so there were people who saw a niche and decided to fill it. These will be our newspaper clippings, our library magazines. I can understand if people doubt their jounalistic integrity―because they’re not journalists, at all. They are self-hired content creators with no boss who choose to talk about news because they wanted to. Any integrity they have is personal integrity. That is to say: they look and act so professional that people think they’re liscenced professionals. This is just a big, big misunderstanding. False and Khyo definitely have a bias against AnyColor because it not only tried to take away their hard-earned RUclips channels but it was specifically to strike down non-Japanese criticism of their company. (Just in case: In Japan, you can be sued for defamation even if you’re telling the truth. Big companies use this to silence reporters often. False & Khyo do not live in Japan.) That’s corrupt as f%^& so I don’t blame them at all for dunking on Nijisanji every chance they get, to hold them and others like them accountable to the non-Japanese public. Even if it wasn’t these 3 uploaders specifically, others would talk about the same things in their place. In my opinion, if a company wants to stop being shamed to oblivion then stop messing up. Reporters gonna report. -Agencies- No notes. I agree with you. Fake virtue signaling sucks. Oh, one note: r/kurosanji only exists because r/nijisanji is for some reason run by AnyColor and the mods removed anyone & everything that critical of the company. The displaced reddit users were given every incentive to make their own place and consolidate. -Conclusion- I’m right there with you being tired of drama. Even if I like aspects of the VTubing industry’s current situation, I can also get sick of constant negative news. No matter what, everything has its limits. That’s not so much the industry’s fault but social media algorithms that thrust it in our faces to bait engagement. Also, it hurts when the topic is something you care about. Drama’s only fun when it’s not happening to you. Disengaging with the drama is hard by design, especially if you’re online every day, so maybe minimizing it will be more effective. For example, rather than taking drama straight I stick to the creators I like (and their chat). Even misery is better in good company, right? I also celebrate the creators I like who have different approaches to the news. In particular, Legal Mindset and Armcha1r Expert were used as examples in this video. They both bring expertise to the niche that is sorely unrepresented and their insight is refreshing, in addition to doing good work. In spite of the brick walls I dropped, I sincerely appreciate the video. I hope this was constructive and informative to anyone who read this.

The people that doubt the news coverage "honesty" or "integrity" are the same ones that don't care about it being spread to begin with. The 4chan Rats were always advised to be taken with tons of salt, as they come from 4chan. Sometimes they hit, sometimes they don't at all, but Twitter people lack the brain power to understand nuance, they take everything "literally" and make a big fuss out of the smallest things. This isn't a news coverage issue, is an audience not being fit to consume news issue. Most of the people that are into VTubers have probably never read a newspaper, watched the news on TV or read a news article online, so the concept of "news" is completely foreign to them. They don't understand that an early report can change and flip sides, be it sooner or later. They are used to "tea" and "threads" which again SHOULD completely be taken with tons of salt as their sources most times than not are extremely dubious or disingenuous, but Twitter being twitter will always take it at face value. This stems from the Internet being a place which is conformed by minors and adults alike, minors being heavily inexperienced and immature, and adults behaving like minors or not caring about the presence of minors at all. Something that people seem to never learn, is that negativity/toxicity will always prevail or be more engaging than positivity, as positivity doesn't usually require you to be vocal about something; you just share, donate or leave a comment in a reduced space. Negativity will always reach its way outside of its "intended audience", it will always cause people to start talking about it, give their opinion be it contrarian or not, and the circle (which in reality is a spiral) keeps on expanding. People that hop in on a trend for clout are despicable. On the topic of Nijisanji being misreported, you're wrong and not at the same time. If you leave the context out of the video as to why Nijisanji/ANYCOLOR grew such a bad reputation then yes, it sounds as if people were biased against them because of some copyright strikes and a single issue with a single VTuber (plus the clout-chasers misreporting because numbers > fidelity), but that's not the full story at all. That's way too far from being the full story. Ichikara, before being ANYCOLOR, already had issues upon issues upon issues on their repertoire, things on the JP side were awful which led to multiple disputes between talents and staff. Things only got better because THE TALENTS spoke up and demanded change. The EN livers don't have that option, even though they like to paint it as if they have any saying on what happens at all. Many of the livers that left have already stated how awful things always were, and you didn't even have to wait for them to leave for it to be obvious that talents were/are mistreated. If you have ambitions outside of what ANYCOLOR thinks to be reasonable or of their interest, then you will be ignored or told no without even giving you even the smallest opportunity to prove yourself. Those that stay on their seat and obey every order without having ambitions of their own won't complain, they are complacent with what they were served, they don't want to change or grow, they just want to "be" (nothing wrong with that, but it feeds the concept that talents shouldn't expect to have ideas of their own unless they are given the permission to). ANYCOLOR has had no issue on rebranding or removing entire branches for no apparent reason, cancelling someone's plans, not assigning proper management for their talents, ghosting them or giving odd or incorrect information, putting out termination notices that read more like a revenge card against the liver than anything else, punishing livers for non-issues whilst lacking basic staff etiquette themselves, and a plethora of never ending issues. And, the highlight for all of this, is that the ones that started the drama with Dokibird and cited things that made viewers start a witch hunt were them, ANYCOLOR. What happened with dokibird was both the tip of the iceberg and a catalyst for what was to come. A tidbit: ANYCOLOR included in one of their annual financial reports that their "VTubers weren't idols therefore they wouldn't get into drama involving idols" (they mentioned this in an attempt to save face with investors), but then the drama they get in is either worse, or as petty as wanting to eat a burger at McDonald's. The "Weaponized Transparency" you mention is only one of the many things that ANYCOLOR did to (essentially) humiliate their talents. If Nijisanji is failing, is because of both ANYCOLOR and the toxic audience that NijiLivers were left with. On the other side, redemption is always an option. People can change for the better, past incidents can be forgotten or forgiven. This, in an adult or mature space, wouldn't be a rare or uncommon concept, but sadly the Internet isn't one, for the most part. It doesn't help that outsiders or newcomers could have been "informed" by people that only covered the topic from a surface level or incomplete manner, making it so those that don't really care about confirming if what was said is true to spread rumors or grow a grudge for someone or something that a few hours ago they knew nothing about. Twitter being the main gathering point for almost any fanbase doesn't do anything good for anyone. Maturity, forgiveness or growth are foreign concepts in a platform which rings the drama bell every other hour. These are things will keep on happening, year after year. There is no cure for the willingly ignorant and no redemption for the forever manchild, other than self-awareness; which they sadly lack or have forgotten about.

Edit: Gonna leave the comment up but just saw another comment mentioning this and your reaction so glad to see the katliente thing got corrected 👍 A little but important correction for the katliente part. She (katliente) did NOT report the vtuber group to the fbi. The editing in her video is indeed a little confusing but she showed a screenshot from a Google drive by Obvi_TV (who likely reported them). Hopefully I didn’t misunderstood that part in your video but I thought it was a major misunderstanding for many creators.

agreed with indie drama (katliente has no business farming our community), but nijisanji deserves all the negative PR they get, their shenanigans JP/EN in general couldn't make me happier for their inevitable collapse. khyo and false definitely were allowed to be biased, i'd be biased too if someone tried to take my livelihood away from me... nijisanji isn't exactly known for being a good actor, and in the youtube community copyright striking is a sin 🤷 but otherwise agreed, it did allow for tourists to come in and profit/spread negativity. supa cringe

Imo I don't have a high opinion of dramatubers. As a fan of Niji (yes I like Niji the horror), I definitely believe there's a lot of criticisms to be had with the company and make sure our oshis are doing alright. The way the company handled Selen's termination was INCREDIBLY garbage and putting their own talents in the forefront only brought in more harassment from the livers. it gives off Kemono Friends vibes, where Kadokawa fired Tatsuki for BS reasons and the former used the seiyuu's to apologize on Kadokawa's behalf. Absolute scummy behavior. The issues I have with how dramatubers have handled it is that they psychoanalysis every small "drama" Niji has when it shouldn't be drama. Like Uki not supporting the genocide happening in Gaza is somehow newsworthy. And caring so much about Anycolor's stocks going down when Cover Corp's stocks are also going down. But AC is the easy target like WHO CARESSS. I have a lot more to say, but that's like most of the issues I have with these drama channels. Like them spreading misinformation and indicating that ex-talents hate the current talents when that is a lie (i.e. U-san telling Vox and Ike fans to support their oshis, literally every graduated liver still being friends with the current livers still in Niji, Kuro telling off a dramatuber for spreading lies, etc.) It just feels like they only care about the livers after they leave and want to see if there's any "dirt" on Niji. Ppl wanted Sunny to tear into Niji when for long time viewers, she's been having health issues and it's been clear she left because of said health issues. Dramatubers just psychoanalysis and want to make the livers' mental health worse by idk existing. That's actual bullying, the bullying these drama channels claim to hate bc Doki was allegedly bullied, which I have not seen evidence of. I truly hope for the best for Doki and the livers; they've already moved on and I think it should completely stay this way. Also, Yugo has confirmed multiple times in their spaces after they left that they were not terminated, they left to focus on their own music😅

I both agree and disagree with the whole video as a whole and it's hard to articulate the why of it due to the complexity of the underlying problem. I studied in media and work in it so I am somewhat aware of how media operates. It's a discussion that could be its own long ramble and no one element holds more weight in the situation we find ourselves. A lot of the issue is that the problems are at their core beginnings not fully bad but are tainted by the general state of the world and even more so the internet as a whole. It's a problem that's not exclusive to the VTubing community, it's present everywhere as long as you dive into it a little and a TLDR is that we are stuck in a rock and a hard place. Trying to make a long story short, we can start by blaming our survival instinct as a starter. After all, those that survived were ones that paid attention to bad news and acted accordingly. This has made our instincts FAR MORE receptive to bad news than good ones. We say we want good news but our survival hinges on knowing the bad so our bodies are just more geared for that. Ultimately, it will take far more generations learning to stop to cling onto bad news to truly fix it. Beyond that, why not focus on positives? Well, look at any channel that covers events and you'll see positives news don't generate as much appeal as bad ones even within the same video. FalseEyeD is a great example of that, look at their coverage in general and you'll see they show far more positive news than negative ones overall in terms of quantity. However, most people tune-off after the big story that grabbed their attention and retain only that or even worse, the positive news often have very little substance, not because of bias but because in general, positive events are conflict-free thus get covered faster while negatives often have more sides each with lots to say and realisticly, you can't ignore all sides thus it taking more space. I could go for far longer but really it's a mess and everything and simultaneously nothing is to blame in this state.
