👷👷🗼
2/3/23 this is the most incredible job I’ve ever seen anyone ever do. This man is the definition of a professional.
I want to be a lineman
Thank you brothers for all that you do for all of us. Have a blessed, safe, and loving day. Remember that I love you forever xs infinity AND E=Mc2 but Almighty God loves you even more then that though. Loving you all. Asalaam ☮️ peace
longshot and a half with this being 10 years old but does anyone know what pole choke belt this is?
It’s a Buckingham Super Squeeze
Much Trust! Trust in your team, your gear and your abilities!
I know this is 10 years old but I just wanted to say. I'm 15 years old and thinking about making this my job when I get out of high school. I will be 18 by then and I would rather join a lineman school than go to college. Mind I ask how old you were when you started school there? And how long did it take you to get a job after finishing? Also. Fantastic video.
I was 23 when I went to line school. It’s a great trade as long as your willing to work all weather and holidays and can’t get yelled at without taking it personal. It took me 3 months to get on at the utility that I live within. I had a cap at 6 months before I was going to look for a job out of state. But I’ve been at my utility now for 10 Years and am a troubleman now and couldn’t be happier.
@@buchananj55 ok thanks.
What would y’all say the best exercises for a lineman would be?
Squat bench deadlift, any compound lift with a barbell really. Focusing on overall strength, mobility and stamina would be good for this job
As tough as this is on a nice sunny day, think of having to do this in the middle the night, in an ice storm with below zero wind chills and having to use your hammer to break the ice off the pole on the way up. We all take power and the guys that keep it on for granted.
That's the reason these guys do it. They want to.
YO IS THAT MEL!?
Hard worker
Did you become a lineman?
I did. Journeyman for almost 4 years now.
@@buchananj55 No way! That's awesome man! Did you start out an apprentice lineman or get a groundman job? I'm about to to go into week 6 at NLC and we're about to start H structures little nervous any tips?
I was a pre apprentice which was basically a groundman. Just get up there and do it. Stop thinking about it. Don’t overthink
@@buchananj55 Roger that. I was a roofer for 7 years, so I feel pretty comfortable so far but gaffs up a pole is a whole different story. I think after graduation imma take the long way home and sign the books everywhere. Maybe apply for some contractor work idk. You go union, utility or contract out?
A utility with ibew 1245. Great way to learn. Can’t speak for contracting or non union. They all have their perks and downfalls. Either way just keep your head down, take all the ot you can, and listen.
Instructor Mel to this day putting us youngans to shame on the wood teaching at 75
I can't wait to attend the 2022 lineman program!!!
Where is this? Iowa?
Telco worker: should I grab my ladder or my hooks? Power lineman: yes
Thank you for this information this is my job lam from Algeria tank you USA
I start my lineman training on the 15, any tips for me???
Listen, learn, cooperate, don't screw off.
Don't be afraid to say something. If something doesn't look right. To many new guys won't ask questions when they see something because they think everyone else is seeing it to. You gotta have thick skin and don't be offended easily. They wouldn't mess with you if they didn't like you. Once you get comfortable climbing you should be able to keep your eyes on the top of the pole and not at your feet like the guy in this video. Ask questions but don't ask the same question everyday. The safety rules in this line of work are written in blood. They will get you home at night, so follow them.
Those 2012 blue skies totally different than today I swear
Facts
That was a nice smooth climb. Thanks for the view up there. Are you gonna go back up and sign it?
this type of Insulator got metal all the way tru so how its insulating anything ?
The daylight showing in that bucksqueeze give me the heavy jeebies. No thanks
Imagine hooking yourself up you make it to the top and then you drop your tool 😂🤣
Awesome video, but think I will use my Terex TM 105 for that.
Krikes, scary stuff. I hope you get decent money for doing that!
Decent doesn’t even begin to cover how much the money is
NicoBBQ
Congratulations, goob job.
Pusssy. I worked for ETC and climbed 90 feet with no bucksqueeze. Pussyboy. Total pussy.
Cool story bro
What u actually doing changing the dishes?seems like Ur doing a lot ov work a could have done 3 to Ur one lol even when it's snowing
out in the field every arm has cross arm braces along with wire and insulators, and you aint doing that in 11 minutes.
Lol. Get your own pen fool. Talk about being dependant. You're a grown man. Act like it. I always have to give up tools or something because youngsters ain't prepared. Gosh people ain't responsible but they act like they the shit.
Joshua Espinoza I don’t know how he acted like he was the shit. Also a pen is not really part of a lineman’s gear, you are most likely not gonna use it on the job. And they usually tell you to not keep anything in your pockets because it’s basically inaccessible with a belt on and it could stab you or some shit. There also isn’t any special pocket on your belt for a pen, so get over it.
Joshua Espinoza the pens so you can write your name on the top of the pole chill out tough guy
I wanna see these guys weld rod or tig! Alot more difficulty. Also skyscrapers are the most extreme.
All trades have their difficulties. As long as you enjoy it
If you build power lines for a living, you earn your pay. Your welder or skyscraper wouldn't work if we didn't. So remember that. Truckers wouldn't have trucks without electricity and we wouldn't have poles and equipment without the Truckers. So we all make the world go round.
pole climbing is more difficult than tig welding… i’ve done both. Anyone can weld but not everyone wants to climb a pole
got all the respect in the world for you guys
How do your legs and feet feel while doing this?
Yuo are still live in stone age?
Christ buy a truck.
Sometimes you dont have that luxury, if you do this kind of work you should know that
What brand of snatch block and rope is that?
Damn that’s only a student
Gotta love that hesitation on the square knot. I always have to tell myself right over left...left over right lol
Pretty sure he tied two thief knots. Not a square was tied that day lol 😂
Mmiitthh same
bro same shit here lmao
Thanks for sharing your experience! Doing some research before I head out to NLC. Any advice on making my schooling easier on myself?
I free climb all my poles, I don't like that bucksqueez thing.
Wow I want to do that but I need to get in better shape, lose my fear of hights, and get ball of steel.and thank u for help keep the power on stay safe.
Hanging off a ladder, that’s hanging off a cross arm!! You power cats are crazy! I’m happy working right at about 30 feet! Mad Respect for you guys!
Is he still hooked to the pole if the ladder goes or no?
thank you linemen! no thanks, I don't want to be a lineman!
where did you mount your camera?
On my forehead with my hard hat above it. It wasn't very comfortable but i feel like it was a good angle
I went to volta line school in Oregon and we didn’t get to use a ladder we got to lean out and do that shit from the pole and we are timed! I got up the pole and all done in 12 min and we had to drop the glass all the way to the ground and put one more on and pin them back up by the horseshoe
Xem youtubi nha.
