    Harbor freight and Princess auto have manual tire mounting machines. They need to be anchored though, so probably not worth it for five wheels. Surprised a truck shop wouldn’t do the job. Nice looking wheels/tires!

    • @GordsOldFord
      @GordsOldFord Месяц назад

      Thanks again for following the project. You're right. Not worth getting a machine for five wheels (and I have no garage floor space). The first wheel took us an hour, but the fifth one was done in lass than half an hour. I may have given the wrong impression about the tire shops. They didn't actually refuse. They might have done it but I got a bad impression from the two I spoke with. One 'wasn't sure' and the other said they didn't think I would be allowed on the road with tube type tires. That sounded goofy to me. Cheers, Gord

    I am using the same motor and transmission mounts on my 48 but I’m installing a 351 Windsor. Noticed you are using the front holes on your radiator support and I will probably end up doing the same. My question is where is your motor cross member ending up in relation to the front axle. Mine is looking like it will be just behind the axle and in front of the steering link.

    • @GordsOldFord
      @GordsOldFord 4 месяца назад

      Hi Bill. We haven't finalized the installation yet but, with the motor in place, the motor mount bar is situated so that, if the front suspension 'bottoms out', the axle will come up just behind the lower section of the motor mount bar. The frame brackets for the new motor mount bar are immediately behind the old motor mount gussets. We want to keep the old motor mount gussets in place for strength in the frame, but we'll have to cut into one to fit the fuel pump. Hope this helps, Gord.
