Is this her own technique...rubbing the backs of her fingers across the keys...using a cloth, etc? I've never seen anything like this...
The purpose of his étude is actually to clean your piano, which explains her methodology.
Thanks, I can't stop laughing :) but totally agree. Black keys are harder to clean
Fast tempo glissnadi, especially in higher dynamics (like fortissimo) can be quite painful when done by bare fingers, and black key glissandi are even worse. Because there's plenty of those in this piece, it's actually really clever to use a cloth, I've seen others do that too.

A good interpretation!
I am solving this piece out myself, and have been listening lots of different versions of it for a research, and this is the best one so far. Not a perfect but almost, there is only one tiny-tiny moment, when you lose the magic by thinking too much -- where you are, and what are you doing, etc. Well, listening to this makes the very same effect, maybe I just woke up at that point... There are other versions played more neatly or with more forte fortissimo, but this is closest to what I think the composer meant, and what I was looking for. So, thanks!
