Overall, I’m impressed with how good it sprayed and at a decent price build quality is good too. Hope you guys like the video and subscribed. Is anyone aware of frame kits available for the last series of Toyota Pickup? I've been looking for kits to fit the 1988-1995 4x4 with single cab. but I've had zero luck locating anything for the frame on the series. Please let me know if anyone has any info on availability. Thanks in advance.
thanks for the video this should give me an idea on what to expect when I work on my 97 rodeo
Thank you!!! I just purchased an 04 with 236k on her clock and want to do this before anything else
Awesome Video! Thanks for making it! Very helpful. I think I could do this job now thanks to your selflessness in making the video. I know you didn't have to. Again, thank you!😁👍👍
Thank you for posting, I just used this exact process to remove my original springs and install new Ridetech springs to drop the front.
Are you able to make a video similar to this one for a 2011 crv? I can’t find any videos to replace my intermediate shaft but the bearing is shot
thank you for posting this . what are on the doors ? i like that look
I gotta do the same i was thinking to remove the CV AXLE but im gunna try this🤔
awesome it saved me from having to replace a ball joint cause it wasn’t going to separate without putting a torch to it
How 🤔 do you like your new combination?
love it actually pretty quiet inside the car with it ran on side but nice rumble for everyone else around
Hello, "torque405" I saw your channel and saw that in your channel have some problems, not many. For these problems your channel is not growing. If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. Do you want to know these problem? If you Want to know, I can only tell to you. Can I tell here or email?
Altho slow it is One of the better videos for this rebuild
Cant believe you showed us how to take off a wheel but, Didnt show us how to take off the part.youre supposidly teaching us to rebuild. Is this video listed as educational or listed as COMEDY? My neighbors 6 year year old can remove a wheel with a cordless impct(no joke)
Going through that right now with someone buying a cheap vehicle. I keep saying to wait and find one that was cared for. If they don’t look after the body I’d be surprised if coolant diffs tranny brake fluid etc would be looked after either.
I used the NVX sound deadening material and some poly-fill. NVX is Sonic Electonix's version of Dynamat. There's Kicker specific speakers with the correct mounting tabs for the Jeep sound bar which is what I have and the magnet is much bigger than the Kickers you have. I also have an external 4 channel Kenwood amp pushing 50 watts RMS driving my sound bar and front components, also Kickers. The problem I have is the dome light lens rattles with lower frequencies coming through the rear channel. It might change once I get around to connecting my subwoofer and tweaking the crossover settings.
@@jeepinintexas6215 i seen the jeep speakers but didn’t want to pay what they wanted for them at the time and I know kicker makes good speakers anyway so opted for ones that fit good enough and ones in the front. I only have a self powered kicker hideaway in the back, probably going to change that it’s not enough, but yes, the dome light cover gets very annoying. Thinking about putting some kind of seal around it to keep it from vibrating plastic against plastic
Thank you, I liked it
981 Purdy Springs
If I don't want to put gas, is there a problem?
@@Major06565 yes it will cause the piston inside to create air bubbles and not perform like it should it actually be pretty bad
A few years back when I relived my youth, I bought an 81(which of the 3 C3s I've owned, the other 2 were 1980's I hated)It's a bummer Chevy riveted everything on those cars. A pain when I did the front shocks, control arms, door actuators...
@@russelljdj i guess it was easier in assembly but not for us years later lol
@@torque405 true dat!
OMG I had this happen last night as I was leaving work. Turned the Jeep off and then back on. It ran fine and I was able to drive 30 miles back home. Then I did some searching and found this video. Sure enough my yellow/red wire was exposed and also a lavender wire. Thanks for posting this man, I wouldn't have known where to start without this video.
After going and reading on what You added. Mine has 344,??? mostly curb side. I have seen 04-08 both sidea and bad. All the hand to hand prepping we did every fall when we were just a little younger was cosmetic compared to what I have learned over the last couple years. Rusting from the inside out. Now one of the shows can't remember Washington State or Minnesota the Gentleman Mentioned that there was a Recall for frame repairs. Sequoia, and Maybe Tundra and Tacoma. No 4Runner Dealer said that there's to many. I think that's what I heard... Mostly I am on late at Night Focused on the 2000 4Runner. Water pump 2 + Years ago was Re-Educating... Love It Though got to be a little crazy...? GOD Bless Y'all...!
sad thing is most states say doing this is a no no. as far as inspection . most rigs now are made like crap. not like the 70s when a frame was built right, its like they took extra fenders bent them up and made a frame
Also possible vacuum leak by distributor
lots of information
Excellent, in depth video, looks like u might need tighter gloves for those type of jobs. Love all of your videos. Enjoy that C3.
Chaim Bridge
I am going to do this to my Tacoma what do you think about welding a plate over the rusted area then welding on the repair kit sleeve
@@jacksoncommins9225 the sleeve is a tight fit and thick enough on its own. It probably won’t fit if you weld another piece on for it to slide over
@@torque405 thanks
Did you take them for a test ride? If not that will tell you how they perform
@@gcrichlow17 yes went for a drive tryed adjusting they really were worse then stock for being able to see out ahead of the vehicle
I am 69 years old, this brings back memories my father had one 1956 with the 292 engine 😊
My Trooper is similar, but there was an extra "ring" or "washer" in the mix - not the snap ring. Putting it back on i've run into the issue of not having enough axle sticking out so the snap clip isn't getting seated - if i had 1/2 a millimeter it would work! Any suggestions?
Well done. Im in the middle of this now.
Thank you for posting this video. Very educational.
Could I start the car after I've done timing belt to see if it runs and was done correctly or can it not be tested until it's all back together?
I would measure also from the frame to the ground just behind the front wheels with the car flat on the ground or on a drive on lift. Could possibly be how the body is mounted or like another said, the load on the springs could be different.
@@RobertMoore-s9q I wish we had a drive on lift . Yea I measured all 4 corners of frame by the wheels between the door sections . I think it’s mostly these have so much variation from car to car way they were built I think they were around the last of the actual hand built cars ever made. Then some time in it’s past it’s had modifications done to the body possible it was taken off and the front clip was replaced with a custom aftermarket one and things were just not adjusted completely
To do a lineup right you should have the driver in the driver's seat on the lineup machine when it is done back when I worked on cars we had a gentleman that weighed over 300 lb and he was wearing out tires on the front of the vehicle on one side to solve the problem we had him sitting in the vehicle when we had it on the lineup machine it solved the problem just a word to the wise also roads have a crown so the water runs off that has Effect also😊 PS I forgot to mention these Mopars with torsion bars.
Why people don't annually rustproof their vehicles I'll never understand.
Some of us dont realize how important it is until its too late.
How is it with say, 200 LBS. in the driver's seat...?
@@christopheranthony6965 it didn’t change anything except maybe 1/8th in in rear
Did the wheels/tires rub without the spacers?
If you're going to work on corvettes, you're going to need a special lift. Or a way to work around the stuff that's on the market right now. I use, two, 10 ft, 2 * 10
@@mr.mckinnon5680 i work on a variety of things not specifically just corvettes I can make everything i have available work right now
Dear Einstein Being I spent about 50 yrs in the Autobody & collision industry it's been my experience that when you see such slight wheel opening differences they are normally associated with a Soft spring and NEVER the body is sitting crooked on the frame . Dude who the hell told you that ? I've personally seen guys replace Control arm bushing switching over to Poly grafite and not making sure the pre load were all correct and seen the same wheel opening issues SO NO. it has ZERO to do with frame on body unless you screwed up the spacer shims if you had the body off .. It is always 100% of the time going to be bushing Or spring related PERIOD..
@@TheRoguelement thanks for the compliments lol feal free to make many more fyi I’ve been working on cars my whole life to so I get what your saying but assuming things without knowing the car is not very intelligent 👍 I’ve been through this whole car myself and replaced things that needed it it’s been a puzzle of history this is how i choose to do what i did for now the front clip is not the original they got some thing off apparently it was a crappy build probably in the 80s or 90s and it was even missing a bolt I’m not doing a frame off restoration with this car it just a fun driver if I change springs in the future for another reason like the rear tweaked and I know it I can always set it up again not a big deal and the control arms are not poly and have been done the only poly on it or the swaybar bushings and not why I put them on to try and level a car just replaced them because they are easy to do and were wore out just showing what effects things have on the vehicle oh yeah I did say make sure the frame is setting level yep I said that and did lol have a nice day
Did u use jk dana 44 gears with this e locker?
@@sam32235 yes it’s been awhile since i got it all but I think it was depending on jk non rubicon axle and carrier was non rubicon 3.73 and down I think because thicker gears in jk it gets confusing i went through 4wheel parts originally then regeared again to 4.56 through Northridge 4x4 there good ppl and very helpful
I would have had 4 cuts and tetanus 1 min in video 😅
what motor do you have in there? I want to convert mine to a single belt system.
@@ninja6567 it’s a ls based 5.3 with a 4l60e transmission it’s a big difference from what it came with originally it made it a different car basically
Great video, but you didn’t show how to get that bushing out of there before you started showing how you were going to set up the other new part to go in. What did you use to take the pushing out?
I used a chisel under the edge and worked it around then a pry bar once it starts coming out it loosens up
I know it sucks it looks hurtin, and of course it’s not as strong as it once was, but that outer c channel on a frame like that is the thick one the inner c the rotten one is just thin. Helps make the frame ridgid. No hopp under any GM, ford, dodge and notice none have a boxed frame, and it’s not because of rust, it’s because it’s cheaper to not bother.
Also have any of you heard about oil undercoating, man it saves a lot of BS
I've got sn early Edelbrock aluminum 4bbl.intake for a 272 Y-block. It has an adapter plate to except typical square bore 4bbl.carbs. One can probably be sourced over the internet.
that is a 292 a 312 vallve cover would say thunderbird special Canter auto parts has every thing you need except the fuei tank I know L have the 4dr version of your car they sell good parts.
@@alanmize5627 thanks and yes it’s definitely a 292 I looked up the vin it starts with a M that was the engine code for 292
what brand and size are the spacers
The spacers were from Amazon vht auto there a 1” spacer i had to sand out the hub some to get them to fit flat because the hubcentric sizes were a little off with the taper of the hub on the Corvette
@@torque405 thank you
The fender badge suggests that it is a 312. For as long as it set, I'd pull the valve covers and check that all the valves are opening and closing when you spin it over. Note that the Y block engine is a solid lifter engine.
I love the will it run videos that are under 45 minutes. Good job.
thanks same here don’t want to drag it all out in one it would take up to much time all at once ppl have things to do . I’ll post a few things on the progress then it running and driving fingers still crossed right now . i really want to hear this old exhaust coming out the bumper
I think I figured out I need a fuse tap.
yes that’s what i jumped into one i already had running out of the fuse block for a speaker
