@@Mmz322 not sure to be honest, depends how strong your company network is - pretty sure if someone were to look it might show that there is an unknown router connected
The first thing you need to do, is bring food from home with you, so the router will think you are still at home
Wait - why does the employer care if you’re traveling or not? My employer only told me I need a wired connection. They never banned traveling.
Some only want their data staying within the U.S. If you work remotely overseas and don’t have this setup then you are using servers of the country you traveled to and that could be problematic.

@@afksosa IT caught me, but in essence I was only working with a commercial VPN, which I don't recommend you use.
@@lonnielove01 I am thankfully, I had a ton of PTO they let me use, but they did deny me access to applications. I didn't do exactly what Justin suggested, I only had a commercial VPN setup and they know wheb you are using them. Anyways I have to have a different setup because I'm using regular nighthawk router with VPN and not wireguard. I prefer wireguard but nighthawks don't have wireguard unfortunately

You can't just work from abroad if you have a job that allows you to work remotely. Remote work is meant to be only within the United States. Otherwise you create tax liabilities for your employer with the foreign country that you're working from. Remember tax is based on where the work is conducted. You have to be a contractor in order to work from abroad, not a W-2 employee.
it only becomes a tax issue for you as the employee when you've been inside another country for a certain number of days per year, and those rules varies by country. Otherwise, millions of people globally are considered illegally working remotely when they travel, answer work emails on vacation, etc. Several countries have tax treaties with each other, eliminating tax headaches and double taxation for the worker.

Quick question. So, im working fot a call center where o take inbound calls. Im using my own computer and my work is web based, i don't have to download anything. I'll be moving to the Philippines with my gf, and im moving from the US. Would this same thing work or is there anything else you'd recommend? Also, what's the purpose of the router connected to another router? I wont be at coffee shops and such, I'll just be at my home in the Philippines
If you don’t need to hide your location from your company then you wouldn’t need this setup. If you do then you need 2 routers so the one with you overseas etc. can connect to the one back at home to make it look like you are still working in your original residence. There are 3rd party VPNs you can use for select cities but some IT departments can identity those IP addresses are from a vpn. Wireguard client/home server connection shows a an original ip address in the area of where you live so you company is none the wiser where you are in the world.
but how you deal with the issue of having a local sim? Boss is calling on your phone or writing you a text

Easy to do. Took me about 10 minutes. I have my phone connected via vpn to my router at home. Any city i travel to when i run a speed test always hits the server my home router uses just like i was in my living room running the same test.

Huh. 4 hour work week is primarily about delegating job tasks to others cheaply. Not sure I see the relevance. The content about automating income streams isn’t about working full stop. What employer is checking your home IP address?

I’ve noticed sometimes when I log on my work phone or work tablet, a red dot turns on and this one time when I was working remotely out of state with my supervisor’s knowledge but I’m assuming she did not relay the info to the company’s IT dept, the phone all the sudden acted funny and it read that the owner of property was retrieving location or something to that effect…so I’m assuming that is how they got found out…

My current job my employer knows I am in another country (they moved me to contract) But in speaking to the sysAdmin about this topic he said ... another rookie mistake he has seen: Make sure your laptop/Device timezone is manually set to your works timezone. A lot of websites and services take you locally set timezone, not your IP address to determine your location for services/ads/etc. I keep two clocks on the wall
Dont forget to not use Bluetooth and Wifi, both will give away your location.
