Romantic Era Guitar
Добавлен 8 май 2023
Hello, I am Robby. Here I play guitar on my romantic era instrument. I mostly play lesser known music and arrange, but I also compose and play more well known music. I typically play romantic music, but I occasionally play music from other eras.
I play a c1820s guitar.

Ferdinando Carulli - L'Amour (Larghetto Amoroso), Op. 204 No. 1
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.2 месяца назад
Hello everyone. This piece is titled L'Amour with a tempo marking of Larghetto amoroso, which I find quite poetic. It is No. 1 from Carulli's Op. 204, a set of 12 pieces creating a fantasie. I actually discovered this piece in a magazine of pieces selected and edited by our good friend Horetzky. Horetzky made some interesting edits, but I prefer the original. This awful visual is the only scan ...

Andantino étude by Horetzky. It is listed as number 21 in a collection of 24, five of which were written by Horetzky (Nos. 3, 7, 8, 9, 21). A fun dance from Volume 1 of Pascual Roch's "A Modern Method for the Guitar (School of Tárrega)" published in 1917. Perhaps this is the closest we have to a proper Tárrega method. Recorded on synthetic-gut strings, which is why the trebles sound scratchy. I am still trying to decide if I like them or not. Here is a fun little moderato étude by Horetzky. I didn't play it exactly as written, but I think this piece allows for so many unique interpretations. I hope I inspire you to create your own :) Score: imslp.org/wiki/Special:ReverseLookup/40770 I have since discovered that this piece also appears as No. 3 in his Op. 30, "24 Studies or Exercises principally in arpeggio for the Guitar", published...
Felix Horetzky - Adagio (Guitar Score Video)
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.4 месяца назад
This particular score is interesting because it lists "Horecki" (his actual name) instead of "Horetzky", the name which invariably appears on his London publications. IMSLP groups this piece with a Moscow publication of "24 Études for Guitar", of which Nos. 3, 7, 8, 9, 21, and this Adagio are included. However, I don't think this piece was published as part of the collection. Unlike the others,...

Turlough O'Carolan (1670-1738) was a blind Irish harpist and composer. Thanks for 500 subs everyone. I hope you like this arrangement. Feel free to play this piece completely in time. I used a lot of rubato here and couldn't justify adding fermatas to the sustained chords. Also, sorry its so quiet. I played it with quite a lot of variance in volume, and that resulted in most of it being very qu...

I've been trying it with ukulele. but some chords are missing. I can't seem to piece it together. looking online they don't provide easy chords to read, mainly just scores and tabs
A Section (x2): Dm - Dm - G - Am Gsus4¹ - G - C - Dm B Section: Dm/A - C - Dm/A - Dm/A Dm/A - C - Dm/A - Dm C Section: Gsus4 - Em - Dm - C Am7/E² - Am/C - Dm - Am Am7/C³ - C - Dm - C Dm - Am - Am - Am/E Outro: Am (descending A minor scale) Footnotes: ¹ The sus4 is in the melody. You could simply play G and figure out the melody by ear if this is confusing. ² Arguably Em with an non-chord A in the melody. ³ The G in beat 1 would make the measure an Am7, but G and A are not played at the same time. I think I got it right. Hope this helps.

yes, a very beautiful piece. I'm pleased to have found it. I quite enjoy Carulli's work outside of his mass of easy studies.
I never was touched by any of Carulli s music before ! Not that I listened to massive amounts, but this one and another I heard few weeks ago really hit the spot with me , I love these slow melodic sweet touching pieces , Great find , beautiful performance
The other one is op 241 no 40 , really nice , I’d like to hear you play that !!
@@AlanMcCarthyguitar hey Alan. yes, this is a beautiful piece. Carulli left behind such a large mass of mediocre music that it’s hard to find the gems. I’m happy you like it. Thanks for the recommendation, too. I have been distracted by the English concertina lately, so I haven’t been recording. So much music and so little time… Thanks for your kind words, nonetheless.
Beautiful... I was singing this in choir back in time, and now I played this on guitar and piano.. Thank you for this arrangement!
wow. I can only image the experience of singing this in a choir. Playing every voice on guitar is a very peaceful and beautiful experience. I'm happy you like it.
Sounds so good on the guitar and suprisinglty good in C ! I dont know why but its giving me the Disneys roobin hood vibes ! hehe great playing and the recording is good !
thanks so much! I'm tuned down to A=424Hz for this, so it's more something like B# and a half major lol.

This seems to be a solo piece, but for this composer all I can find are duets. Any idea where I can find the score for this guitar solo? I clicked the link but was taken to a sight asking that I pay a monthly fee.
you don’t need a subscription for IMSLP. On the page it takes you to, click “complete score”. A 15 second countdown will start (that you can pay monthly to skip). Once the timer is up, click “continue to download”. There will be lots of duets in the pdf, but the solos are in there too. Hope this helps.
@@RomanticEraGuitar The site seems to have been updated to remove the free access. When I clicked on "Complete Score" the following message appeared in the lower right corner of the screen: "Hello, Ludwig here. Unfortunately due to the cost of GPT4, access to this chatbot is now reserved for members only. I encourage those who find this limitation a barrier to explore other chatbots such as Bing Copilot, Claude AI and Poe. sorry for the last reply. I just saw this. Ignore that. There should be text in the center of the screen that says something like “I understand”. Click that, then the countdown should begin.
