Just found your channel. Great idea having a lock on the railway. Look forward to more.
Fantastic job! Initially I was concerned that you made it functional. Glad you haven't made that deep dive yet.
Fantastic job so many ideas for mine if u get chance to check out great video
The lower lock gates should go into the water, the way it is now a boat can never enter or leave the lower side of the lock.
@@nielsdebakker3283 not according to every lock picture I’ve seen
Hi Steve. Good to see you back and being able to work on the layout again. Some nice work on the landscaping and a good start on the canal scene. Best wishes. Mark.
Very nice, thanks for sharing. Dave
Nice job steve. I don`t know if you have a 3D printer but I think there`s some narrow boats on thingiverse.
Yes I have and I have already downloaded a couple, I'll have to print in two halves, but it's on the "roundtouit" list.
I like those lock gates, but their hand rails should be painted white, based upon my knowledge of the Grand Union down the hill from me.
Great Observation, I've looked at a number of pictures over last couple of days and that is on my todo list to fix. Also may not be noticeable in the video, but the side wall ladders also need white railings on the tops.
Great job, looks very impressive. Just a small thought... next to the steps would be a slopped tow path on one side of the lock from when the barges would have been pulled by horses, but this is your layout and looks just fine as is
Thanks, yes would be tough for a horse to get up those steps, I'll get out the sculptamold!
Looking good! Thanks for sharing. Dave
Thanks 👍
Great video. I enjoyed the format saying what you were going to do and how then showing the results with comments.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Keep at it mate, excellent progress.
That's the plan!
Thoroughly enjoyed your video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Always loved the layout Steve, keep at it mate. Good to see you back.👍
Looking great overall, Steve. The gap issue on the backscene can be solved in a variety of ways. Gorgeous train running through the scene, too!
I like your scenery, the backscene gels it all together. Shame about the cliff you have created though with the backscene joint mismatch. Taller tree needed there I think. I love that Manor too. Nice sheen on it. Dapol or Accurascale ?
Many thanks! Point taken
Dapol Manor BTW
I don't do looking at scenery, but you had the right engine, Draycott Manor, running. Thankyou for running her, I was hoping she'd run all the way round, one day before my 42nd birthday. I could kiss you for this. My two favourite Manors are 7819 Hinton Manor (second favourite) and 7822 Foxcote Manor (first favourite), both of which are preserved alongside 7 other Manors to make 9.
Do the table lamps light up ?
Hi. I love all you are doing on your layout. It's fantastic. Shame about all these negative people ruining others enjoyment
Thank you so much!
Good for you! I’m going to sub as I haven’t seen your videos. I linked from your TCD FB post. Are you local to the Twin Cities?
Thanks, kinda sort of! I have a property in Bloomington, but the layout is in Slayton, MN about 3 hours south west of Cities.
Welcome back Steve!!! Don’t listen to the naysayers! It’s your model railway and no one else’s!!!
Thanks, I try to stay positive!
Hello, Steve and welcome back. Looks to be a great start on the canal scene. Should be a real eye-popper!
Thanks, still a bit of work to do though
Nice work Steve. I`ve No time for The Butt holes, and tell them to go away with True british charm, Then block them.
Nice work! Rgds, Joachim
Thank you! Cheers!
Well said Steve. Who's going to be your go to supplier now that Hattons have gone.
Thanks, I suppose Rails of Sheffield, although I've used others in the past like TMC and Olivas (Ugh! not recommended) and I used to use Lendons, but since Tracy retired they are less enthusiastic about international shipping.
@@worthingtonmodelrailway8628 Olivia's can be awkward for sure. They are or were Hornby's go to subcontractor to fit the official sound when Hornby started their new Dublo series e.g. the Duchess of Atholl. No idea why Hornby couldn't fit the sound themselves.
Glad you're back Steve,, do whatever you want in the way you want.Nice to see the layout back on RUclips. All the best from Sheffield, Pete.😁
Many thanks
Forget the negative idiots out there, Looking forward to future updates.
Many thanks for the positivity.
Nice to see you back on the airwaves. Your canal scene is coming along nicely and looking forward to further updates. Keep your mojo going and try to ignore the negative comments, some people just need to get a life
Thanks, will do!
Very good.
Thats about the amount of 16 tonners that a real 24 could handle, I use to work with them on BR
Just bought the experimental version 24 from tmc for £92 bargain.
New jobs can be stressful. nice addition yo your layout. Thanks for sharing. Dave
Steve thanks for sharing I am 3D printing what we call a Jack Pump waiting for some parts to make it work.
Fantastic little model Steve fits in well. Glad your back mate, good luck in the new job. All the best from Sheffield.👍
Nice to see you back Steve! Hope the new job goes well. Cool building and kits. Take care!
Nice little model, goes in well
Nice gadget. A Rapido Hunslet 0-6-0 saddle tank engine is coming my way, from Rails of Sheffield. She's a plain green engine and named Thorne No. 1. I've also bought a pair of nameplates, from Tay Model Railways ebay site. The engine doesn't like the name Thorne and neither do I, so we've agreed for her to be renamed. Her new name will be Becky. Do you like "Becky" as a Hunslet engine's name?
Sounds great!
Wow, it’s really noisy and annoying
The Noise is actually the Alien Spacecraft. I need to install a switch so I can use one without the other.
can u see what he don wrong
Your camera is nearly always off-shot - very poor!
Was it the contacts on the loco giving a problem? Still if you improved the track for a poorly running loco it will be improved for everything else. Glad you got it to run.
Very interesting video . If i were to go only buy 3 or 4 of these coaches which ones would be correct to run please?
Nice to see you back Steve, all the best for 2024.Greetings from Sheffield UK. Gods Country 😊
Admire your dexterity and skill.
looking good Steve sir. :o)
You took a bit of a risk there with the spray adhesive only an inch away from that row of stored carriages 😮 I can't say I'm keen on the self-adhesive type, as in your situation of applying it in-situ. It's just going to try and stick to everything except where you want it to, including itself 😕. The slideabillity of self applied wet adhesive would give much more control. Use wallpaper paste maybe ?
Hello Steve! Those are beautiful back scenes. I need to get some nice, long ones myself. Like you said, one can cover up a lot of little unhappy bits with additional scenery! Cheers!
Hi. Yes the id backscenes are tricky. What i did was cut some foam board the same height and length and put them on with foamboard on the floor to be able to roll and stick down gradually. Then i glue the foam board to the back of layout. Mine have come out well. Hope it helps enjoyed your video.
The one thing I don't agree with is those poor steamies locked up in the cabinets. Please take them out and run them on your railway sometime. I'm sure they don't want to spend the Christmas holiday stuck in there. When you're not playing with them, put them back in their respective boxes to keep the dust off. They will last a lifetime longer that way, same goes for the rolling stock.
Like the beard mate !! Looking forward to more content (work and life permitting) Good luck to ya !All the best from Sheffield 🇬🇧
Great to see the layout again ,it's amazing
