Whole Other World Scuba
США
Добавлен 7 апр 2011
Whole Other World is all about Scuba diving of all sorts. We want to take you with us and provide a first person account of what we see as divers. Our goal is to provide a video library of our local wrecks and dive sites so that people may know before they go or just explore from home. Whether we're wreck diving, culling Lionfish, or hunting for fossils we hope you come along for the experience!
Hunting Megalodon Teeth in the Depths of the Cooper River
After spending most of the past year of 2024 diving offshore Charleston, SC we decided to make it back down to the Cooper River for some good old fashioned fossil diving. Being the end of December, the water was a bit nippy at 50 degrees Fahrenheit but there are also less boats and gators in the water. We just played it by ear and tried out some spots that we had been wanting to dive for a while but never had. As you can see it turned out to be one of those memorable days, everyone went home with something good! Now I can't wait to go back out for some black water river diving! #fossildiscovery #sharkteeth #megalodon #scubadivingadventures

Lady Luck Shipwreck: Hidden Secrets of the Engine Room Revealed!
Просмотров 43821 день назад
The engine room of the Lady Luck is not exactly hard to find and a fairly straightforward dive, HOWEVER, that does not mean it is appropriate for inexperienced divers to enter. This is still an overhead environment with many hazards that could snag an unsuspecting diver. While there is no exit into the hold, you can almost always see the one way out making this similar to a cavern dive. The bot...
Deco Diving the Vandenberg Engine and Boiler Rooms - Penetration Dive
Просмотров 1,9 тыс.Месяц назад
The Vandenberg is a massive ship with a proportionally massive engine room. We have been planning a return trip to the Vandy for two years now and despite some sporty seas, we were able to finally make it back out to dive our plan. We went straight towards the stern, down to the sand to find our entry point into the bottom level of the engine room at 145 ft. We cruised around slowly, trying to ...
Deco Diving the Lowrance Wreck Engine Room
Просмотров 109Месяц назад
This is our first time diving the Lowrance Wreck down in Pompano Beach Florida and what a beautiful wreck she is! This wreck sits in 200ft of water so Trimix is a must. We cruised around the bottom for the first half of our dive and then went down the middle of the hold until we started finding machinery. While we saw a good bit of the engine room there is still more left to explore next time w...
Spearing Lionfish on the Anne Richards Tug
Просмотров 1665 месяцев назад
We decided look for some Lionfish on a wreck that we had not dove on all year and there sure were a ton of them hanging out on the inside! The Anne Richards Tug is a wreck that is located in the Comanche Reef in Charleston, SC. We got a total of 60 Lionfish in two dives and could have easily gotten more if we had brought multiple Zookeepers down. This video is from the second dive of the day.

That looks a pretty clean wreck to dive in
@@davidbarnsley8486 it is a very clean wreck to dive, definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been yet!
Wait... What people actually eat this fish?
Nice!👍
Thanks!
Great video.
It was a great dive!
Awesome as always.
It was indeed, can’t wait to explore some more!
Spooky!
It's a lot spookier when the vis is bad!
What camera was you using. This is the best video I've seen. Usually they ask turn out green
I use a GoPro 10
What was your time at depth, and you # of deco stops at what depth and time at each?
Bottom time of 50 minutes at varying depths, 5 deco stops totaling 55 minutes of deco, total run time 105 minutes
That looks like a fun dive. Depth, time and deco obligation?
It was an awesome dive! Max depth was 150ft, total run time was 105 minutes, deco was 50 minutes.
Very cool! Are you catching them or spearing them? I couldn’t tell.
We are spearing them with Hawaiian sling spears.
He was trying to look inconspicuous, the eye movement alone had me rolling 😂
He did NOT want what we were selling
😂😂😂
Delicious 🤤
Excellent for ceviche!
The beautiful, the invasive, the yummy!!!
That’s right!
That's so awesome.
It was!
I feel as if the ropes down there should be removed…
We get groups of divers together for National dive against debris day to remove trash from our dive sites, we also clean up every time we dive but it is hard to keep up!
That’s very amazing
They are!
I had Lionfish pizza in Cozumel a couple years back. Surprisingly good! Very buttery and mild taste. BTW how far is this wreck from Charleston by dive boat? Didn't know it existed.
@@imstillatit9813 that does that really good! The Comanche is about 40 miles offshore from Charleston.
❤
Looks super awesome!
It was indeed, cant wait to go back!
I used the latrine. It was a day after Taco tuesday..., there were no floaters/ i mean survivors.
@@jesseholder1578 Taco Bell and marine heads are a devastating combo!
Very nicely shot! So few underwater videos are really worth watching, yours one of those. Last thing i expected on a lower deck is the flag of America)
Thank you for watching and your positive feedback!
What boat are you in?
@@adonisnguyen1293 this was at the Comanche wreck.
There should be a soundtrack with Heart rockin' it.
Sea catfish?
They were kind of like big polywags
Thank you for this. I served on the Robison ("Rockin' Robi") from 74-76. I knew she was sunk for the reef, this is the first vid I've seen. Part of me is a little sad, but much better this than being beached at the breakers and cut up for razor blades.
@@steeleslicer1217 thank you for watching, she is an amazing wreck and home to a huge diversity of fish now!
Notice how the Lionfish lover went radio silent once she got schooled.
I'd say we have a Lionfish overpopulation problem here.
@@b.wiggins714 100%
@@WholeOtherWorldScuba I'm your neighbor to the north - live in Hampstead NC. I'm very interested in diving for Lfish!
@@b.wiggins714 I know yall have some to spear up there too, I’ve cleaned a few up from the Aeolus… not the Caribsea though. I don’t usually spear around 60+ Sand Tiger sharks😅
Thanks 👍
Awesome stuff. I love it.
Thanks!
Good stuff..!!...Keepem coming...
Is it worth anything?
You can sell them yes
Leave that fish alone dang 😢
@@Nunudiva22 this is an an invasive Lionfish that is non native to our waters and they are decimating our native fish populations
They are an invasive species
Why they are invasive and are not exposed to be there
@@Wildlings1o1 they are invasive because they are from the Indo-Pacific part of the world and now they are taking over the Atlantic Ocean. They are spreading at an uncontrolled rate because they have NO natural predators on our side of the world.
@@WholeOtherWorldScuba Except us!!
Do you turn these in for bounties or sell to restaurant?
@@PROAmateur01 we cook them and we collect them for a competition the SC aquarium is hosting.
Wait, do people eat those?
@@donaldmiller4386 yes you can eat them and they are delicious!
@@WholeOtherWorldScuba I never knew that I thought they were poisonous to the point of not being able to eat them
@@donaldmiller4386 they have venomous spines on their back but you can filet the sides like a regular fish
@@WholeOtherWorldScuba awesome thank you for the information
Hey brother, really enjoy your video - just one question. I know your spot is probably sacred, but I was stationed in the Navy of the Cooper River by the weapon station in goose Creek years ago. Are you that far up the Cooper?
Thanks! Yes we do all of our cooper river diving up north from the navy station. We kind of just hit different spots all the time, you never know what to expect
@@WholeOtherWorldScuba cool! Well, thank you for the reply and good luck and stay safe out there. Hey one more question if you don’t mind, do you have to deal with gators up that far?
@@b.wiggins714 there are gators in that part of the river but they are mainly more of a threat during mating season. I always tell my divers to stay away from the banks or swim towards the middle of the river if they come up close to the edge. Gators are usually at the surface so you aren’t likely to bump into one at the bottom while diving. If you live in the area you’re more than welcome to come out with us sometime. We dive the river more in the fall or winter.
@@WholeOtherWorldScuba Awesome! I'd love to go with you guys. I'm a former Navy EOD diver and have ALWAYS wanted to get some big teeth. I live near Wilmington NC and find them on the beach at Topsail Isl. (not the Megs). Here's a story you may have heard of last summer.... ruclips.net/video/7z7xwQ-i4kQ/видео.html Let me know how to contact you for the chance to go. Ben Wiggins Hampstead NC
So awesome man.
Thanks! Looking forward to your lionfish video!
Great video. Thanks for sharing. I enjoy seeing these.
Yes!!! Happy hunting
Yes Sir! Gettem Boys!
What a great dive. Magnificent ship and plenty of opportunities to dive different things and levels on her. Been to the spot. Thank you Gage.
