Advertising is part of modern life we see it every day. In the past advertising your wares wasn't easy . The ads shown in this film were taken from an old book packed with 70 adverts showing Stirling businesses

My wife and I will be travelling from Inverness to Glasgow in the New Year. Railway tickets are not yet available, but it seems we'll have to change trains and wait a while at either Stirling or Perth. Which would you recommend please ? thanks !
Stations are never great places to wait about at. Stirling Station is uncomplicated If you have time , a walk around the town is ok. Streight through would be the best option
wouldn't be a woke lefty hate Britain march without the Hamas flag of hate.
The Walking dead again they look stupid and pathetic no means no Proud to be British FIRST ❤️ 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thick clowns.
A couple of hundred crackpots
Well. That didn't take long😂😂😂Crackpots.🏴🇬🇧
Its ads, not adds.
Well Rod You must be a teacher . No its not ads either its avertizzzzments lol
Here’s one suggestion of how I think it should have been dismantled for restraining works .A 100ton mobile crane multiple straps an all sides of the four faces and corners and I mean multiple multiple straps and lift it slowly but straight upwards you’d have more chance of saving a lot more of that wonderful clock than that clown 🤡 did with his unknowable attempt of how to use that machine in a wreck less manner
They don't want to save it. Look at some old photos, and see their 'success'. Been going on since the World Fairs of the late 1800s, part of an invasion of our world.
I totally agree with you Colin and we can't let this story get covered up or forgotten until solid answers are given. It is a criminal matter in my view.
It was just a fine piece of Edwardian masonry. A handsome thing that added a great deal to the beauty and charm of its area. Anyway, congratulations to the Council who stand in the long tradition of Stirling Councils determined to destroy anything of remote aesthetic value in the town. The Baptist Church, The Station Hotel, Viewforth even (which was good of its type and finely landscaped). There is such a long list. And on the other side of the balance sheet such wonders as The Inner Relief Road, and "The Bridge to Nowhere". What a place.
I totally agree with with your point of view. Stirling Council have slowly killed the town
@@colinmcgregor1746 Every town is like this. Very sad. Watford, Lowestoft, even Cambridge and Canterbury. It's an insidious invasion.
I no longer live in Stirling, but I am both shocked and disgusted that the council has done this. The footage of them taking it down- what an absolute mess. I don't believe they will follow through on their plans to 'rebuild and restore' it, at best it'll be a cheap simplified version. I hope the people of Stirling make their voices heard, and care enough to follow up on this
There appears to be a worldwide movement to destroy all the previous era's beauty, so we only see modern, transhuman shapes and forget our harmonious past. They erase our history, one beauty at a time. When I look back only to the 1950s, I'm shocked how insidious the masonic movement has been in removing all the things that remind us of who we really are.
colin i live in cornwall and dont know where this is but omg things like this anger me ....i did notice the cut at the bottom of the columb and was the crane just stabalizing the clock for removal or was it destroyed ..
The digger pulled the whole thing down including the scaffolding. Stirling [ city] town is in central Scotland, ruined by by modern style planners
wtf did i just watch omg they shouldnt of took that down ..probably cost them more taking it down then to fix it ..that clock needs to be accounted for as its history of that town ..
i love how big discusting organisations work ...wasnt it protected due to its age .....i always thought grade listed buildings was protected lol if i bought a grade listed building i couldnt fart on the exteria walls without getting into shit lol or am i being thick lol does the grade thing also work for monuments yup
another clump of histery destroyed ..i really do hope that council are doing a plan to restore it
It won't be restored as they destroyed it taking it down. What you may get is a facsimile of the clock. It will never be what was there before. As a listed monument Stirling council had a statutory duty to care for and keep it safe. This has been neglected over many years and the important thing to note is that they didn't bring in a specialist stone mason firm to carefully dismantle and catalogue the pieces, they brought in a demolition company! The chief executive of Stirling Council can make all sort of soothing speeches, hell I can say I have the moon in my shed. We know that's a lie as is the words coming from the gilded tower of the council exec office. He needs to go, either by falling on his sword or being forced out by public backlash. The council as a body corporate should be prosecuted for the destruction of this clock. They have committed an act of cultural vandalism, which had it been an ordinary member of the public would see them in front of the sheriff to face justice.
@@FATBOY692011 Masons pretend they like stone building etc - but in practice they are behind the wholesale destruction of our history. For each new 're-development' in the 1960s and 70s there was a row of masons voting in through.
i dont live there i live in cornwall but this post angred me so much i think its disgusting with what they have done i really hope ppl of stirling are getting together and acting on this to do something about there local council ffs it was a clock on sollid foundations how could it be deamed unsafe that a mason couldnt fix ...councils love putting usless shit in town centres also spend enough money on seats that stop homless ppl from sleeping on them ..@@FATBOY692011
Stirling's council can't stop digging
Im a 24 year union roofer and I'm definitely not wanting this job we got cranes for this
A wolf saved Stirling from invading Vikings. That tree was cut down to make a point. For some people climate change does not seem to be a reality. How many more trees will turned into something like this? "A work of art," other material could have been used. This will be a reminder of those who don't care about trees and the environment, if they did, a tree would not have been used. If the tree was dead then this new structure won't last as long as a living tree. Stirling is a beautiful city, it's architecture and landscape testify to the creativity of those who care about their surroundings. Trees are can integral part of our fragile planet and should not be exploited for someone(s) ability to create "art."
No your all wrong with that kind of thinking .Trees have a life span like you and me and sick trees can be dangerous the art is an after thought and will soon rot as will we.. What would you have used pastic, iron, Peace brrother
@@colinmcgregor1746 I'm all wrong about climate change I'm all wrong about the environment, I'm all wrong about my concerns about our planet. My comments show that I care about trees the environment and our planet. As I mentioned, if the tree was dead then the sculpture will not last as long as a living tree. If the tree was dead or sick there would be documented evidence from a professional tree surgeon. Is there? If all the tree sculptures were made from sick or dead trees then I retract my critical comments. I would like to believe that any further sculptures of this kind will be from sick or dead trees. Climate change is a reality, David Attenborough will confirm this. We all need to do our best to save the environment, not exploit it for personal attention recognition or praise. I wish you well.
lol, got to prioritise those bike greenhouses!
Thanks for making these; I didn't know almost any of this!
Thanks Stevo’s dad.
great video thanks
that's one thing visitors to Stirling stepping out of the Train Station get hit with one eyesore of a greeting ,. the backs of BUILDINGS , no nice frontage anywhere.
Great to see these wonderful Scottish Independence Parades in the UK! Can't wait to check it out there in the summer! Cheers to sharing this and enjoying watching your content here, man! 👍😎👌ɢʙ
Thank you, Colin. How is the 'City Centre' now? All the best. Rab 🍻 😎 ⏳ 🎲 🌠
Subscribed, Colin. Thank you. Many heart-felt memories, and remembrances of what came before, with my respect of and living in Stirling, 1993 until 2009. Your narration is from the Heart, replete with love and your respect for Stirling Town and environs - never forgetting Baird and Hardie, the Radical Martyrs, who were put to death in a disgusting manner (8 September 1820, outside the Tolbooth on Broad Street). The Gentlemen were later disinterred from Paupers' graves at the Kirk of the Holy Rood, Stirling, and reburied together on a hilltop within Sighthill Cemetery, Springburn, Glasgow N1. (Adjacent to where I was born: 42 Millarbank Street, Springburn.) All the best, Colin. Stay free. Rab 🍻 😎 🎲 🌠 🕊

Pathetic.
Fred never used safety ropes he would climb this little tower after a few pints
Absolutely nothing wrong with this swimming pool. The new one at the Peak is pathetic compared to this.
For anyone wondering about the usefulness of the bridge it is estimated that as many as 10 people a day use it. Money well spent again in Stirling.
Lovely video thanks Colin. Couldn’t agree more with what you said at the end regarding changes. In fact I’d say all the changes were for the worst. What a shame.
Love the music!
The people who made the planning and spending decisions in Stirling in the last 70 years should never be allowed to work again. Thanks for the video Stevo’s dad.
Respect to these guys. 🙏
He looks a bit nervous to me the only thing that safety helmet would do up there is keep the rain off having said that I wood shat myself up there well done
Picture of horse drawn tram advertising my great grandfathers garage in Barton Street, Henderson Bros.
I didn't get enough time in Stirling when I was there in 2009. I won't make that same mistake the next time I go.
Just loved this video 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧👍💂
