Good times.
Trips like this are the ones that we remember for a lifetime. It was a really great family bonding experience. Wishing you the best for the season ahead. 🙂Yaz
I cannot get over how clear that lake is 🤯 such a beautiful way to discover BC!
No kidding. Crystal clear and so inviting. It was a fun adventure. Definitely a bit of a workout for Dave in particular. Wishing you the grandest of adventures ahead. Yaz 🙂
What an unreal adventure ❤😍
It was so fun! I'm glad that we convinced ourselves that we had enough time to explore. Enjoy your season ahead!
Love your vlog, so informative and very well presented. Very helpful for my upcoming Taiwan trip. I've just started my small channel and uploaded some vids, I've subbed to your channel and looking forward to more inspirations of your vids.
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad that I was able to provide some travel inspiration. It looks like you are quite the traveler! Wishing you a lovely season ahead full of grand adventures. Yaz
Very glad to have your video recommended to me. The video was great, and I really appreciate the level of detail provided in the notes. Thank you! I'm heading to Philippines on December 13th and have the same layover you guys do. Can't wait to hear about the trip. Maybe asking too much, but let's get that thing loaded before I arrive, mkay?! 🤭
You are so very welcome. I hope that you have a great time in Taipei if you are heading that way. We really enjoyed our few hours there. All the best for the season ahead. Yaz
Whoops, just seeing the second half of your message now. Sorry! I sadly won't have the Philippines video ready before you leave. I'm so sorry! We spent most of our time in the Romblon Province. Alad Island, and Romblon Island in particular. We stayed off-the-beaten path, and had the most incredible food cooked for us by local families. We watched the fish being caught minutes before eating it. Absolutely loved it!
Wow you are a cool traveler too! I cant wait to watch your videos!!!
Thank you for watching! We do love traveling very much! We are not filmmakers, but we do enjoy making videos as a hobby. Such a great way to share tips with others, and to capture memories. Wishing you a lovely season ahead. Yaz
Hello, nice video, I am gathering information about how to spend the same amount of layover in Taipei, my question is since you got a private tour which I assume you booked ahead of time, is it necessary for me to get an internet wifi connection to be able to communicate with the driver/tour guide while waiting for him at the airport and while touring the city? Did you also leave your hand carry luggage at the airport or you bring it with you during the city tour? thank you and enjoy Philippines.
Thank you for watching! Yes, we did book our private tour in advance. We were introduced to our guide via WhatsApp and made the meeting point arrangements prior to landing. I don't remember needing to connect with our guide by phone once we were in Taipei as he was always nearby. We ended up bringing our carryon luggage with us in the car. There were lockers available at the airport. The whole process for our adventure in Taipei was incredibly efficient. It felt easy! Thank you for your kind wishes for the Philippines. Our trip was absolutely incredible and I can't wait to share the adventure once I have time to edit the footage. All the best for the season ahead, and for the trip that you are planning! Yaz
@ ohhh thank you for your reply. And thank you for your video, very informative.
@@believetrustsurrender5678 You are so very welcome. I hope you have an amazing time in Taipei. We really enjoyed our time there.

It would be dangerous to visit Quebec with all the terrorists that live there.
Awesome video! I’m going to go watch more
It was an amazing adventure. It's amazing how much you can pack into very little time!!!
Another great trip
Thank you! It was definitely a fun few hours.
Did this route back in 1997 for our Grade 12 trip - it was October and had some chilly nights, but it was beautiful and would love to do it again one day. Thanks for sharing!
Oh how fun! What a great Grade 12 experience. The great outdoors is such a fabulous classroom for learning key life skills. We didn't realize just how low the lake water was going to be on this trip at the end of a dry summer. We learned a lot, and laughed a lot! This trip was one of our top family adventures to date. Have a lovely season ahead!🙂
M'y beautiful city❤❤
It truly is the most magical city! A feast for the eyes, and for the soul.🙂
I’m planing to go December 24 th to 29 th .but I heard German market finish at that time
Hello! Yes, the German Christmas Market ends on December 23. Exploring the Old Town at any time of the year is fabulous as it has so much character. I think the next time that I visit I'd like to eat my way through the city (food & beverage adventure for my palate🙂) , and take in more of the history. Enjoy your time in this very special place!
Yikes!was that an open flame in your tent at 3:19?
Hello! It's a collapsible UCO Original candle lantern with a metal frame and glass chimney. We put it on for a few minutes before we sleep to fight some of the dampness. It works like a charm. Enjoy your autumn. Yaz
How do you know where the 5 markets are? Is there a map? What did you buy? It starts in late November ok
Hello! The German Christmas Market is spread throughout Quebec City's old town. www.mnaq.ca/en/ is the market website for more details and for downloading the site map. It looks like it starts on November 21 in 2024, and runs until December 23. It is only open on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. I bought a few ceramic miniature incense houses (I'm nuts about these!), a winter hat and gloves, festive food items and stocking stuffers (little craft items that make great gifts). I absolutely love the vibe there. So magical. Thank you for watching! Have a lovely autumn. Yaz

That is so sweet of you to say. You just made my day! Thank you for stopping by my channel. Have a lovely autumn. 🙂
I've done the Cape Scott trail, the West Coast trail, and the Nootka trail. Of those three, Cape Scott is by far the most challenging, if only because there is much less trail management. It's not uncommon to have to crawl through the mud underneath massive dead fall. At high tide the alternate route is steep and muddy with slippery ropes offering little protection from disaster. I saw more wildlife on Cape Scott, more bears, more humpback and grey whales, and even a regular recurring set of identifiable wolf footprints, day by day.
Wow, thank you for the great information! Dave shares the same sentiments about the North Coast Trail versus the West Coast Trail. Nootka Trail is still on our bucket list! You had more luck seeing wildlife than we did on the NCT. We saw one bear, sea otters (adorable), and bald eagles. Some of the beaches on the NCT are out of this world!!! Northern Vancouver Island is truly one of the most beautiful places that we have ever visited. Thank you so much for watching and for sharing your valuable insights! Yaz 🙂
I recommend doing it earlier in the year. I did it late spring and the conditions are much better. More water, with flowing streams made for speedy travel. It took me 11 hours car to car. I can’t wait to go back and experience it over 3 or 4 days and soak it in. Nice video.
Thank you for the kind feedback and great insights! If we have an opportunity to try this fabulous canoe route again in the future we'll certainly follow your recommendation. Enjoy the rest of your summer! Yasmin
"Beautiful! We want to see more of the hotel!" Love, Devendra
Hello Devendra! I'll make sure to include more hotel clips in the future. 🙂
Great vid. We were heading into Cape Scott in 2022 and were greeted by one group from the North Coast Trail that had a bleeding hiker. One group with someone who couldn't even carry their own pack anymore and another group that was almost in tears as they were shocked how gruelling the trail was. We haven't braved the NCT yet as a result ;)
Oh my… that would be discouraging. I had never done a multi-day hiking trip before the NCT. Luckily Dave had experience hiking the WCT so was able to show Cameron and I how to live out of our backpacks, and adventure safely. Yes, lots of opportunity to get injured on that trail, and you are not close to a hospital. It was an incredible family adventure that we will never forget! Enjoy your summer! Yaz
Super cool video. I was born in Campbell River and 52 years later we are finally doing this route for the first time early September 2024. How bad can it be? ;)
Lol! It’s never too late! We went at the end of August last year. You will love it! The obstacles made it fun for us, even if it didn’t look like it. We would do it again in a heartbeat. Have an amazing time!!! Yaz
I was just wondering what adventures you were up too ❤
Thank you for watching! We’ve had a few good adventures this past year that are on my editing hit list. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Beautiful!
Can you believe how gorgeous that place is? Wow! Take care of yourself. 😊 Yaz
So fun! Very inspiring Yaz. Love it.
It was a blast, even though it may not have looked like it. A great family bonding experience. 🙂 Thank you for watching!
That was my play group as a kid, we lived in CFS Holberg.
Amazing! It's so gorgeous there. 🙂
Hi there! Thank you for sharing the video. Would you mind telling me what month were you in Quebec? The reason I’m asking is because, I am planning to go to Quebec city November 27 through December 2, and I was wondering will there be any snow and will the place be decorated for Christmas that early? Let me know your thoughts thank you so much.
@@anitavukpalaj3168 We went the last weekend in November for the start of the German Christmas Market. We’ve actually gone a couple of years in a row at the same time. One year we had snow, another year we didn’t. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas at that time. I would check the dates of the German Christmas Market as I get the impression that the Old Town gets decorated for that. It’s not unusual for hotels to be decorated for the holidays in time for the US Thanksgiving. It’s such a magical experience!!! Thank you for watching, and have a wonderful holiday.
Are there food bins, and outhouses? Last year I did the west coast trail, with my daughter and her friends. It was awesome, even 40+ years later. After seeing bears, and knowing what raccoons can be like. The bins, were priceless.
Oh how fun! Camping is such a great family bonding experience. We would suggest planning for not having access to food bins and outhouses when on backcountry trails like this, even when there may be some. We also try to find out the most current trail conditions from a FB group. Enjoy the adventure!
been to cape scott park 45 years ago... Too old now. saw the old mine site, lotsa birds, some deer, no bears (sorry). had very good boots, hiked in, hiked out. alone, cuz nobody else wanted to go. was not too wet, but was cold. great stuff, enjoyed it. bad part was bushwacking when I lost the trail. eventually finding it again.
Oh my gosh, that sounds like quite the adventure! We were short on time so didn't see the old mine site. We only saw bears on the shore during our boat trip to our starting point. We did see a lot of sea otters. They are way too cute! Good boots are a must. Someone that was hiking ahead of us had their boots fall apart and they hiked barefoot the last day! I'm sure those boots must have ended up on that big shoe tree at the end of the trail. Glad that you were able to find the trail again. There were a couple of areas that weren't as obvious for us and we found ourselves bushwacking. Luckily there was an ocean to our right, so we followed the sound of the waves. Have a fabulous summer, and thank you so much for watching! Yaz
Great video. Hiked this trail a number of years ago. We started in Shushartie Bay and had to hike through the bog. You were smart to avoid it.
Thank you for the kind words. Making these videos is a fun little hobby for me.🙂 The NCT hike was so much fun!!! A full work out for sure. Bravo for not being swallowed up by the bog. Lol! I hope your summer is filled with great adventures. Yaz
lovely! Thanks for this.
Our trip to Fiji was one of the most magical travel experiences that we have ever had. Thank you so much for watching. 🙂
I walked the West Coast Trail with my father many years ago. A uni friend did the North Coast Trail a couple of years ago. He invited me to join him, but I'd moved overseas by then. Still looks inviting, though.
You must have loved the WCT, especially doing it with your dad! What a great bonding experience. The NCT is magical. Not very busy and 'wild'. We're still talking about how fun it was! The Nootka Trail is on the bucket list now. I'm just editing our Sayward Forest Canoe Loop video. Now THAT is something fun to do with family or friends. Enjoy your summer! 🙂
Lovely! I can’t believe this is where I live!
Lucky you! We love Vancouver Island soooo much. I'm actually just editing a video now about an adventure that we did along the Sayward Forest Canoe Circuit. We can't wait to go back. Enjoy your spring! Yaz 🙂
I love your vibe
Thank you for the kind comment. 🙂 Wishing you a lovely week. Yaz
I had a 55 lb. pack at the start with all the food supplies we needed.
Wow! That is a heavy pack!!! Even after eating all the food, don't you find that the pack still gets heavier the more tired that you get? Lol! I'm just working on the video for our fabulous Canoeing Adventure around the Sayward Forest Canoe Circuit on Vancouver Island. That was some heavy portaging! Have a fabulous week. Yaz
A lot of the West Cost Trail beach walks we did were on tennis ball sized round stones. Hard hiking
I can relate to the round stones! Yes, they make it tricky. Have a lovely week and thanks for watching. Yaz
I hiked the entire West Coast Trail with 2 others in 1979. Long before it got destroyed in a terrible storm. Not the same as it used t be anymore.
That would have been an amazing time to hike the trail! Wild and wonderful.
HI, Where did the inspiration come from to name the channel Planeta YAZ? What do you know about YAZ?😉
Hello! Many, many years ago I was telling a work colleague some funny travel stories from my trip to India. I was laughing at some of the misadventures that had presented themselves to me along the way (I try very hard to look at the bright side of situations). My colleague couldn't see the humour in some of the situations that I had encountered so asked if I was from another planet to be able to enjoy these situations. 🙂My nickname is Yaz (short for Yasmin), so he started calling me Planet Yaz from that day on. After that I created a newsletter of my adventures for my family and friends that I called Planet Yaz. I would tell stories and draw cartoons that put a positive/amusing twist on maybe the 'not so fun' things that I had experienced in my travels. I started doing this for myself to teach myself how to focus on the positive and not the negative. This thought process changed my life for the better. I'm sorry, I'm not sure what YAZ is? Have a great day!
@@planetyaz Hello, Yasmin, I'm "Gabriel Yaz". His name caused me curiosity and attention. I recently saw a “Podcast” where a girl talked about a distant planet called YAZ (Planet YAZ). Her story is fascinating and leads us to believe that this place really exists. I'm curious, interested and enthusiastic about the subject. I looked online for things, places, stories or something similar that would give me more information about this planet. I didn't find it! I saw your channel and was curious and connected the Podcast girl with the channel, but I saw that based on the content it had nothing to do with it. Even so, I saw some of her videos and liked them and soon realized that they were a travel blog, which, by the way, is fantastic. Still, I wanted to know the reason for her name and wrote to her. Thanks for the answer, I understood everything you said, that is, it has nothing to do with the girl's planet YAZ, but... it has something in common! The fact that your friend told you that you are from another planet, and also adopted the nickname YAZ, and then you created a channel with the same name, Coincidence? Maybe so, but you would never imagine that someone from another country could make the connection between “Yasmin” and Planet Yaz. It's incredible! Are you really from Planet YAZ and don't consciously know it? According to the podcast girl's report, there are millions of YAZ beings reincarnated on earth. Yasmin, I don't know if you believe in otherworldly things or spirituality or reincarnation or something. Many Brazilians see spirituality and exotericism as reasons to live in search of expanding consciousness and using spirituality as a guide to a better life. I don't know if this is your case. OK! I bought the book from the girl on the Podcast and started reading, if you want to know more, here is the title: “Planet Yaz, The story of one of the exiled humanities that inhabit the Earth”. Unfortunately for you, the book is in Portuguese and still doesn't have an English translation, I'm sorry! Google it. As for the podcast video, it is very long. I'm going to cut a small excerpt and publish it on my channel, which by the way is called @gabrielyaz and I have another one @ensinamentosdomestre. There are few videos posted on these channels that I'm starting now. So that's it, thank you very much and sorry for the long text.☺

Yes!!! It was amazing. It was one of those experiences that made me feel like a little kid again. Thank you for watching! Yaz
@@planetyazfeeling like a kid again IS THE GOAL lol the videography is excellent by the way
@@magentapilot4576 Oh gosh, thank you for that compliment. I made the mistake of not checking my filming tools for 'frames per second' settings and lighting, so it was quite the challenge trying to make bad footage look presentable!!! Plus it's quite intrusive trying to film around a family vacation... I really appreciate the kind words.
Best holiday with children and grandchildren ❤
I'm glad to read that you had the same experience! The toddlers, teens and timeless members of our family were all entertained. We loved how many surprise and delight stations were at the German Christmas Market! Staying in the old town made a difference as everything that we had time to see in two short days was within walking distance. The hotel swimming pool was definitely a hit too! Thank you for watching! Yaz
A wonderful adventure, so excited to see what you do next!
Thank you! We've got some super fun adventures coming up, both in British Columbia and overseas.
I was at a surfing beach there back in 2001 , it was a hippie establishment . We never made it to the huge trees 😢😢
You'll have to come back! LOL! We actually did another big tree quest around that area in October that I will eventually make a video about. I'm so time starved! We explored the Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park area and saw the Cheewhat Giant. WOW! Port Renfrew is an awesome place to use as a base to explore. Big trees, beaches, waterfalls, surfing, the epic Juan De Fuca hiking trail... Absolutely love that area. Have a great spring and thank you so much for watching! 🙂Yaz

Thanks for sharing your journey. Planning to do this trail in the summer. Any tips?
Thank you for watching Geoff! It's such a gorgeous and fun trail. For additional tips: 1) Pack as light as you can. Our backpacks felt heavier the more tired that we got. 2) Determine your water sources in advance and maybe carry a bit more than you think that you will need. We drank way more water than we anticipated due to the workout. 3) Expect damp feet. Merino wool socks and gel blister cushions saved us! Your hiking boots will take a beating. We saw someone hike in bare feet the last day as his boots had fallen apart. 4) A sense of humour really helps. 🙂 It is so wonderfully quiet in this area. Nothing but the sound of waves, birds and pebbles rolling up and down the beach. Have a blast!
Hi I really liked the video I was just wondering I saw on a map there were some lakes up there if you can camp up there?
Thank you for the kind words! There are lakes in the high alpine of Tantalus Provincial Park that we sadly never got to see on our hike due to the weather conditions. The BC Mountaineering Club (BCMC) might be the best people to ask about overnight camping opportunities in the area. I believe they are the ones that maintain the trail. The Squamish Riverside Rec Site near the Sigurd Creek Trailhead is nestled in a pretty gorgeous location! That may be a nice base for your adventures. We hear that Ossa Mountain and Mount Jimmy Jimmy are also great summer alpine hiking trails in that area. Happy exploring! Yaz🙂
This is amazing Yasmin! Thanks a ton. I'll be following your steps this coming Wednesday, and hoping to spot and photograph these amazing eagles
Happy Holidays! They are bigger than you think. I get surprised every time I see them. 🙂. I went to the Fisheries area in the Paradise Valley yesterday and only saw one so maybe try the other areas. The Squamish Golf Course trails by the river always seem to have the most at this time of year from my experience. You just never know with wild animals. Good luck! Hope the new year brings you tons of great adventures. Yaz
Hi Siddharthnaidu5286, Did you go shooting the bald eagles? Any online album?
I would love to see photos too! I saw a number of eagles this past weekend by the Mamquam river. I went in the morning and they seemed to be feeding.
What time of year/month did you go
Hello Jesse! We went at the end of August. It was so awesome. Happy Holidays! Yaz
Great hike
It's one of those great adventures where you get a lot of variety, exercise and epic scenery in a very short period of time. Perfect for time starved adventurers like us! Thank you for watching!
It's not remote anymore, overrun with Canadians and Californians , it's no longer a cool relaxed location.
Thank you for sharing your travel experience in Southern Costa Rica. I'm sorry to read that you did not have the most relaxing time there. We did notice that the locations north of Uvita had a higher concentration of foreign visitors and Expats. We are drawn to quiet, off-the-beaten path experiences and enjoyed the peaceful settings of Drake Bay and Pavones in particular. The organized scuba diving and snorkeling excursions to Cano Island were very popular with visitors. In Pavones we must have stumbled upon a quiet window as we felt quite removed from it all. Only a handful of surfers, and very quiet roads, beaches and restaurants. Thank you again for sharing your insights! Yaz
