One trick you could do is use a piping bag with either a large straight tip or if it’s a plastic bag cut a decent amount off of the tip to create an opening (assuming it’s a buttercream consistency filling) and pipe the filling on the layer. Start from the inside and go in a big swirl until you reach the outside. If you keep the piping bag at the height that you want the thickness of the filling to be it should work. Let me know if this makes sense or not. If not I can create a quick tip to post.

The buttercream recipe I use is from Merci Cakes on instagram. It is a silky buttercream recipe. She shares her recipe on Instagram. In our first episode, Buttercream Dreams, we talk about the butter we use, etc.
