I’ve tried hard permadeath 3 times and all of them ended at the end of day one when Ellie got grabbed on the escalator. My game literally glitches out to where Ellie just stands up and I can’t move or shoot. Awesome gaming experience

Ok so do you know the part in the woods with Abby where she meets lev? I JUST got there in my grounded permadeath run and if you don’t remember, you get a hammer in that section and you use it to fight off stalkers until eventually you get a cutscene of Abby breaking the hammer and you get to move on. THIS TIME for whatever FUCKING reason the hammer just BROKE during GAMEPLAY like it was a regular fucking hammer. Without that hammer the cutscene COULDNT START and I was TRAPPED and the stalkers NEVER STOPPED SPAWNING and I couldn’t even QUIT AND RELOAD because i was still in a COMBAT ENCOUNTER and that would COUNT AS A GODAMN SHIT ASS FUCKING DEATH. So what do I do right? I keep fighting. And fighting. And fighting. UNTIL eventually I realize that the stalkers aren’t even going after me anymore. They are walking RIGHT PAST ME to LEV. So I’m fucking freaked out so I’m still fighting and trying to keep lev safe for like FIFTEEN MINUTES until finally I’m like “OK FINE this isn’t working. MAYBE IF I LET ONE GRAB LEV AND THEN SAVE HIM, that’ll somehow fix the sequence and I’ll be free” … I dunno if you knew this, but usually when an ai companion gets grabbed in this game they call for your help, and you get about ten seconds to run over and knock the infected off of them or else you get a game over. I GOT NO TIMER. THE FUCKING INSTANT the stalker grabbed lev I got the game over cutscene. Yknow it’s not the FIRST time I’ve reached this part, and ive gotten FARTHER than this, but getting to Abby IS STILL rare for me. When I get to Abby I sit up straight because “oh shit. This might actually be the run.” And to sink SIX HOURS into a run and be playing FLAWLESSLY like I was and have it TORN AWAY because of NOTHING that I did wrong? Like dude I wanna call customer support and demand that they give me my run back. WHY THE FUCK DID THE HAMMER BREAK. I’ve had companions block me while trying to run. I’ve had enemies appear out of thin air and kill me. I’ve fallen out of the goddamn map. I’ve died in the DINOSAUR flashback. And I still have NEVER SEEN such a level of fucking god ass stupid piss breath shit dick fucking fuck my skull until I vomit out my goddamn stupid fucking lungs bullshit like that. I’ve been working on this run for like two months now dude and im genuinely fucking going nuts. I haven’t even gotten to the elllie boss yet and I KNOW im gonna die to that motherfucker at least twice. I used to love this game… This used to be my favorite game EVER MADE! I was so engaged in the PLOT and the CHARACTERS and every playthrough still felt EMOTIONAL and REAL and these CHARACTERS were REAL and the cutscenes MATTERED… What have I done? Why am I doing this? Help! somebody help! Get me out of here!! I DONT WANNA BE HERE ANYMORE SOMEONE PLEASE GET ME OUT!! UNPLUG ME!!

Hillcrest is a nightmare. I tried to sneak around shooting the dogs first or taking out a dog and its handler with a Molotov before I attempted anything. I was always getting killed when I forgot there was a handler with a dog left.

Just remembered one of the reasons I didn’t replay this game even though I loved the first run. All the dog killing. I’d avoid them if/when I could but you’re basically forced to kill them. Not a good feeling for a dog lover/owner lol.

Fun fact I learned while playing permadeath myself. At 2:22 if you manage to stealth kill all infected without alerting any of them, you can progress without more infected jumping down. Haha

I played Permadeath on Per Act setting because I got confused. I thought Act and Chapter was Vice Versa. I thought act was suppose to be the little sections in Seattle Day 1 for example. But, it was fun. I played on the Light difficulty, I’m glad I got through it.
