Yes, the SECRET is out. EBAY is a ONLINE GARAGE SALE! You buy cheap then you sell cheap. Also, good listings. Good titles, photos, and price. Plus, good sale through rate. That sums it up.

There’s a correlation between large stores and negative feedback. Those seller are trying to do too much too fast, almost going on autopilot. It becomes quantity over quality….not good You’re doing great work sir! Keep it up!

Exactly!! Im on year 26 as a full time seller. The #1 problem is that stupid exact number of items listed per day. It got popular 5-6 years ago when tech and chris started talking about it. You list good items everyday. so if that is 10, 30 or whatever thats is thats what it is. work the hours you deidicate and get what you get done. Not worrying about how much you get listed everyday. Pick up good items only

I've learned a lot from many sellers.. I took a rule of thumb, would I buy it? I'm still working on organizing. I'm still learning and I hope yo get up there where I can pay off my debt and spend more time with family

Did someone ever actually say to list as many items as possible regardless of quality ? I’ve never heard anyone say that.

Pros and cons to both sides… currently have 22,000 square foot warehouse & 7 employees. Never made as much money as I do now BUT I still made good money as a one man operation. The trade off to making more though is that I have constant headaches and employees make more mistakes. Have to be trained for months. Have to be your own HR department, etc. Huge trade off but can make more money if you’re willing to go all in. If you like peace of mind, do not ever hire anyone besides a shipper. I would always suggest finding someone to pick and ship once you can afford it. It allows you more time to source and list and make more money.

Are you scheduling your items when you mean that your items launch automatically? I heard a schedule listing doesn't actually count as activity? Only drafts that were manually edited and listed counts as ebay activity?

EBay is so yesterday...the only folks who make money on EBay now...is EBAY. It was great in 1999...through about 2007. Gone downhill ever since.

I aim for a NET percentage of 40-80%. Its rare I fall below 30%. If something is going to make that net percentage after everything then it is listed. I buy lots of things in lots or rows so there is often gems that get overlooked during buying. Its always nice when you get that "wow its going for that" moment. I box everything at time of listing which lets me stack boxes on top of each other. I do this part time (35 hours/wk) on top of a full time job so between getting the order and having that order ready can be as little as 5 minutes. Having everything boxed numbered and ready to go also lets me know my exact shipping cost at time of listing. I try to stay within $2 of my furthest shipping point's cost which is enough to pay for the supplies and for future increases. Having everything boxed up does take longer to list. But your saving that time (and headaches) on the back end. Plus having things in boxes avoids having to buy storage bags or outright having the things exposed hitting each other collecting dust and potentially damage. The first time you drop a box with something glass inside and it easily survives the 4 foot fall the system will pay for itself. I don't use a electronic sku system. I simply wrote a number on the box. BM1K3-891 is one of my part numbers. That breaks down as Basement, Section/room 1, Shelf K, Level 3, Box 891. I try to put less then 40 things on a shelf and with this system I can take that 891 out and send it off and replace it with a 1203 without it affecting any other factor of my inventory. Just need to make sure the box has the correct number on it and it goes in the correct shelf. But I don't need to think about a sku printer or app messing up. I have things planned out to have 20,000 items stored. I am 5 months in and will be at 1000 listings by the end of the year. Lots of learning and refining going slow and being careful to not make those rookie mistakes that everyone makes. But listing times are reducing while still maintaining my numbers and its time to go into 2nd gear going into 25. All my electronics are listed for parts. I test whats possible. Even if 99% of it works that 1% is going to get you a return. It means potentially less profit. But I would rather give someone more then they expect then less.

500 item store, selling for 4 years part time and full time . Average sale price 160$ and make 3-5 sales a day 🤝🏽 overhead is close to nothing and cost of goods extremely low

40k store sounds like a nightmare bro. Instead of a item goal maybe a money goal is what you need. My goal was 100k first year and boom I hit with no more than 900 listings up. Next year I'm doing 250k all by myself 💪

I think a lot of resellers see the success of technsport and is trying to become an overnight success. It appears that you were in total darkness of how ebay works based on the list of things you said were lessons learned.

My local Goodwill prices all Columbia at 9.99 or 14.99 and I would never buy that flimsy trash bag jacket even at five dollars bc I would sit on it for two years to sell for 15. If they want to eliminate resellers (which they are resellers as well) they need to do the proper research instead of blindly pricing stuff high hoping to prey on someone uninformed of market value. That’s my biggest gripe about goodwill pricing things high. Seems as though they pull a price tag out of their you know what without actually doing the work.

About 15 months ago, I made a similar move. Over the past four years, I’ve sold 26,000 items and grown my business significantly. I rented a storage space and employed two part-time worker but now I’ve streamlined my operations and moved the business back to my garage, where I manage everything on my own. With a maximum of 1,000 items in inventory, I maintain a solid 40-65% sell-through rate while running the business single handedly
