Oil on linen canvas - "She's smiling"
Painting "She's smiling" 10x10cm
was inspired by a field of various plants, which we found near Stara mountain in Serbia. Different style, but I enjoyed working on this small format.

    I wonder if it has stopped yellowing. The damar? While you use something that changes color over time, do you consider it?

    I am also a painting mediums freak 😊 ! I made myself damar in turpentine Varnish......I also used Ketonic= sintetic resin insted damar......But also mastic...... I melted damar resin in linseed oil....to make a really old tipe of varnish ( esences,distilated spirits came letter in painting sectory ) ...This tipe of varnish slows the drying time of oil paint. . .. Maybe a sicatif was needed☝️... Good gloss, anyway... I also melted wax in oil..... Good leveling proprietes, subtile glazes, valvet look, also slow drying 😏.... .................................. I had bought a LOT of painting mediums......NEVER REALLY GOT ~ THE PERFECT ONE~ 😊..... "Venetian Medium" GEL from Lefranc Bourgeois was the closest one......Maybe is too much wax in it.....😏.... For me , THE PERFECT MEDIUM would be a gel that melts like cold butter brought in a worm room.....THAT INTERMEDIATE STATE....It melts when You work with brush and turpentine spirit over it..... ............................... There is on You Tube one REALLY precise italian youtuber....revealing old recipies and painting steps from Old Masters.....I guess he is working in painting RESTAURATION field ....ARTENET is the name of his chanel....☝️... ............................. Sometime, we should meet us = old tehnicks painting FREAKS,...to change recipies.....😊... Yeap.....old fashion stuff WORKS BETTER then modern alkyd, aldehide resins and so ☝️☝️☝️☝️☝️.... Only VINIL resin & paint ( FLASHE - Lefranc Bourgeois) are GREAT 👏👏

    I would use rectified turpentine instead of white spirit. It mixes much better with oil colors.

      In my experience, the smell of turpentine is much stronger than the smell of white spirit. Since I've been using white spirit, I no longer have a headache when I leave the studio. Certainly, it is an individual matter, turpentine can also be used

    Are you concerned about breathing in the spray vapors over time or does the vapor seem to go straight to the canvas and not go much into the air with the amount of spray force you use?

    • @paunkovicart
      @paunkovicart 7 месяцев назад

      I use the mask mostly when I work with larger format ipaitnings, or when the air pressure is a little stronger.

      I'd expect there to be a point where the damar crystals saturate the solution. If the solution is in a warm room, then it's done.

      It has long been recommended to use pure Gum Spirit of Turpentine instead of white/mineral spirit as white/mineral spirit is not a strong enough solvent to fully dissolve dammar resin. Certain kinds of resins can only be dissolved in certain kinds of solvents as different kinds of solvents work differently with natural resins.
