Rather Dangerous Hydraulic Elevator | Sam’s of Gedney Way, White Plains, NY
Просмотров 497Год назад
Interesting yet seemingly unreliable hydraulic of unknown origin, tucked in the corner of this convivial neighborhood eatery. Perhaps the video doesn’t capture it fully, but this thing rattles and shakes a ton. Lands rather hard, too.
Otis Series 1 Extravaganza | Vernon Hills Shops, Eastchester, NY
Просмотров 859Год назад
In order of appearance: 700 White Plains Road, 688 White Plains Road, and 670 White Plains Road. I believe these were all Burlington when originally installed, before being modernized to Otis Series 1 in the 80s.

Very Nice Burlington-Burwak Hydraulic Freight Elevator | 696 White Plains Road Scarsdale, NY
Просмотров 16 тыс.2 года назад
Very nice and very old hydraulic freight at 696 White Plains Rd., Scarsdale (really Eastchester). Certainly a rarity, and functioning quite well. The shaft view is excellent. Smelt like garbage, though.
Excellent Otis Traction Elevator | The Gramatan Building, Bronxville, NY
Просмотров 2162 года назад
The Hotel Gramatan, opened in 1905, was a major presence in Bronxville until its demolition in 1972. All that remains today is the two-story shopping gallery and offices at street level, and the elevator shaft, which leads to the condominiums that replaced the main hotel building. The elevator tower itself is still an imposing structure, and there is an excellent view of town from the top. The ...
Burlington-Dover 1960s Hydraulic Elevator | 116 Kraft Avenue Bronxville, NY
Просмотров 2442 года назад
Very nice Dover by Burlington installation at 116 Kraft Ave. Rapid door closure, unlike the contemporaneous Otis at 1 Pondfield.
Otis Pre-Lexan Hydraulic Elevator | 1 Pondfield Road Bronxville, NY
Просмотров 1342 года назад
Excellent and well-preserved example. It is becoming increasingly difficult to find something of this vintage. The motor has been replaced, but still quite nice.
Montgomery Kone Hydraulic Elevator | Saks Fifth Avenue, Greenwich, CT
Просмотров 2962 года назад
Montgomery Kone hydraulic installation at Saks on the Avenue. Recently modernized by Kone.
Dover Impulse Hydraulic Elevator | 31 Purchase Street Rye, NY
Просмотров 8332 года назад
Standard yet nice Dover Impulse at 31 Purchase. Nothing extraordinary, just an Impulse doing its thing.
ThyssenKrupp Hydraulic Elevator | 22 Elm Place Rye, NY
Просмотров 7462 года назад
Originally ThyssenKrupp Impulse. This was recently modernized, though I am not sure who did it.
1968 Dover Hydraulic Elevator | 150 Purchase Street Rye, NY
Просмотров 1542 года назад
This Dover is situated in the older wing of 150 Purchase. Certainly nice to see something such as this left untouched.
Excellent Otis Series 1 Hydraulic Glass Elevator | 150 Purchase Street Rye, NY
Просмотров 2572 года назад
A very nice Otis Series 1 glass elevator at 150 Purchase.
Very Old Watson Traction Elevator | 277 Martine Avenue White Plains, NY
Просмотров 9752 года назад
A classic. Single-speed Watson traction elevator at this Class C office building. A joy to see and ride. Certainly a suspect for imminent replacement but perhaps the building ownership appreciates the charm its antiquity lends to an otherwise bland building. Installed 1949; possibly the oldest unmodernized elevator in Westchester.

THE FLOOR PASSING CHIME IS SO ANNOYING
The left one has been broken since you filmed these
Peter McCallister: "KEVIN!!!! YOU SPENT $967 ON ROOM SERVICE!?!?!?!?"
DieselDucy, isn't this the freight elevator you got stuck in or was that the other one.
Someone got busted at the Cross County Center and I got busted at Ridge Hill (both malls are located in Yonkers, New York by the way).
Why did you put music and the end!
Yeah, this is why I don’t go into restricted areas, it’s not worth it in my opinion.
Not a single number has been burnt out.
At least the elevator is still original.
"Globe" is a brand name?
These are not the original lobby elevators you see in movies such as Home Alone 2. Those were Millar.
its the door peel yes or no

When will people stay away from private places?
These are really nicely maintained as it seems..
It’s similar to the one at the elevaTOURS museum, but that one was a salem
I found out that my local Macy's at Coral Square is getting this same modernization.
Very nice elevator, and I guess it was in the late 1950s when Otis started to redesign their elevator cabs, such as going over from small markings to large markings on their floor indicators, along with switching over from 3/4" small to large 1" black buttons, round rotary dial indicators that served 8 floors went over to the vertical rectangular indicator that could serve up to 24 floors, perimeter and cove lighting evolved into suspended ceilings, flat walls started to utilize raised laminated panels, and the Otis door track logo went over from 3 fins to 2 fins. Lots of transition in a single decade, especially from 1955 to 1960. But still, these Otis elevators are none the less outstanding time machines, even though many of them are disappearing to modernization.
that indicator is def a westy, so its prob a westy that got some generic buttons
Beautiful golden cab! Definitely going here during my NYC trip this year!
Get busted at 1:57!
I think this may actually be a vintage traction elevator that is original except fixtures (original controller). I think this might be a Westinghouse elevator based on the indicator, unless it is something even older. The hoistway door jamb being NARROWER than the door opening is very weird.
I assumed it was a hydraulic based on the layout of the building, but it certainly could have been a traction. I believe this was installed around 1969.
i hate the buttons but it has a epic motor
These elevators used to manually operated with bellhop up into the 1970s
I actually live in this hometown believe it or not
This whole mall is closing in March of 2023. It’s probably gonna be torn down and mixed use with residential & shopping
I may have to return to retake some videos. I can’t stand the sound of my voice in these old ones! Unfortunately, this Lexan is no longer accessible.
@@newyorkcityelevators I think you sound fine my guy! Lol! The videos are great! Honestly, I hope when construction starts, it would be possible to get parts off this old girl. I’m sure either way this is gonna go with the construction.
Holy cow, you are finally back! We all missed you so much.
Oh my god he’s still alive!! 😁
I really hope Kone isn’t modding these like the passengers
What made you start uploading again after 3 years lol
Finally had time to take more videos.
@@newyorkcityelevators Oh nice
I had no idea this elevator was here! I thought the Otis elevator was the only one here. So I'm assuming this is in the original portion of the building since the Otis was installed in the newer portion of the building.
Precisely.
Nice to see you back! This is a great elevator Rye has.
This might be an Otis Juging by the COP.
Your back
Welcome back!
Is This public or Private
Why you did not go to B?
Play Soon
If I ever in NYC you bet everything I am staying here
One of the employees at this store didn't like when I tried to film a video of this elevator
I always avoid service corridors unless a staff member offers me permission
I’m going to be honest. I don’t think she was rude at all. I will admit I do freights which isn’t the best thing to do but we also need to understand that if they tell us that we can’t ride the freights, they are just doing their job.
Photography is not a crime but it is a crime to ride
Unless youre a terrorist or criminal
She seemed to not be concerned with him filming but why he was riding the freight elevator which is technically is for service use only.
Why it’s du Independent service
Cool
That elevator closed like it had an attitude.😂
Similar to North White Plains station
Nice Elevator
